My mom was texting me today and I inadvertently locked the message. I could see it in my inbox but all of the characters were the letter J. There was a padlock icon on it. I don't know how I locked it so I couldn't unlock it and just ended up deleting the entire thread. Can someone please tell me how I managed to do that and how to undo it without deleting the entire conversation?

my phone is VERY new, and I am VERY confused with most of it. However, on my home page there is (WAS) a text messaging icon, a voicemail icon, a browser icon, and then a market icon. Somehow a second text messaging icon showed up. So there was my normal original text message icon, and then a larger one above it. So I tried deleting one of them, it would not work, so i tried the other one, did not work. Then I turned off my phone and turned it back on and now they are both gone. I tried hitting menu, then add, then motorola widgets and then messages, but the only option for a text messaging icon is the red message icon, i was the actual text message icon, HOW DO I GET IT!!?? It's bugging me very badly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem,it happens once a day(it happend before MR1,with MR1,and with MR2). Cant unlock the screen,when I need to drag padlock left or right it just cant,padlock stays on the left or right side, I can get it back to the middle but unlock - NO (sometimes it promts for some ''unlock code'' but it is not usual lock code as I never set a lock code) and in mean while if you receive a call from some one he complained later on that why didn't you receive the phone, my answer is always that phone never vibrate or ring but when i check the miss call log the call was really there.
The only temporary solution is soft reset. Somebody have something to say?
I was wondering, is there a way to have the screen come on and/or have the phone unlock when you get a text message or email notification?

You can use one finger to hold the green icon, then you'll notice a little green icon on the other side of the screen (where the sound off icon usually is, it disappears when you hold the unlock icon). Then just tap that one too and it unlocks.

It was right about the date/time stamp and looked like an x button. I was thinking maybe it meant the conversation had reached a limit because no matter how many additional texts I sent or received from this person, the number stayed the same (204). But when I restarted the phone, the icon had gone away and the number started increasing again.

It's my first smartphone (and touchscreen) Im not too familiar with any of the lingo that Im sure is needed to get my question answered, BUT...
My phone went through an update NOV 13th. When I woke up it was like having a new phone. Im comfortable with it now, but I dont really know what any of the icons that appear in my (text) message threads are.
I had a few red triangles with "!" exclamation points pop up. After some online research I found it to mean a message had not sent. I learned how to delete them and everything has been okay, no icons off to the side of message threads except the attachment paperclip. Until today. I was conversing back and forth with my dad via text. After I had sent my last message to him a blue box with a white 1 (one) in it came up next to the message thread. this box only appears when im in the message home screen, that shows all the message threads, not when that specific thread is open. Along with the box, at the top of the message screen, where it says "messages" with the "+" off to the right hand side there is a blue 1. Im sure its related to the blue box/white 1, considering it was not there prior.
Text Message icon and notifications gone after I uninstalled Handcent SMS. I have been unable to find anything online in regards to this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Also be wary of removing this application, FYI.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

-voicemails
-facebook msgs
-texts
-email

I am having real issues reading anything. The icons are really small for as large as the screen is as well as some text thought the phone. Every phone I have ever owned had at least a small,large,larger even the yucky Storm I got out of I could pick larger text (point size). Anyone know if this was left out or how to fix? Its relentless and can only be cleared by dropping down the notification window and clicking on 'clear'. It looks like a small envelope but not very good graphically. I originally thought it was default app notification but its not. I'm rooted and have a custom rom installed. Someone please tell me how to stop it, I can't take it anymore.

I am not sure if the solutions are the same. Also, when it is on ring, it rings and vibrates, not just rings. Any suggestions? My main concern it getting it to vibrate when I get messages, I am not too concerned about the ring/vibrate thing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't know if its a sign I have a lot of stuff on my phone or what but it annoys me when I click the green messaging icon on the phone and it stalls for a second or two before opening or if I had been texting person A and I get another text from person B, when I tap the green icon it will open back up the Texting thread from person A instead! In that case, I have to exit out of all conversations before I can see the new text coming in from Person B!

View 6 Replies View RelatedRingdroid is great is you have the song. But if I download a ringtone - it comes as an MP3 attached to a text message. There is no media icon I can see that I can click/hold in order to have the option to save the MP3.
So, how can a save an MPS that comes in attached to a text message ?
I want to add some custom ringtones. Ringdroid and Ring Extender both do a nice job, but you need to have the song in order to make a ringtone. I have downloaded ringtones that came as MP3 attachments to a text message.But, I cannot figure out how to save those MP3's. There's no media icon I can click and hold. If I try menu while it's playing - it just backs me out of it, and if I try menu before playing it I just get the usual SMS reply options.

When someone calls or texts and ur not around the phone to hear it doesent the phone have a setting where it rings every 1 or 2 minutes. To alert you that you have some sort of message waiting. Other than the little tiny green light that blinks when u have a message. My env touch you could set it to alert you 1,2 5 15 30 minutes after initial message.

View 10 Replies View Relatedthis phone is pretty sweet with all that it can do but my major issue is with texting. I use handcent and every once in a while if I get a text and I unlock my phone and open the message before it stops vibrating ill see the first few words on the preview bar but when the handcent finnaly opens the message wont be there. its happend to me prolly 10 times now and kinda sucks asking people to resend the message. It only seems to happen when I open everything quickly, and also once in a while if its doing a function like closing handcent and I hit the power button before it fully closes the phone will restart which also is kinda anoying.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I put my phone into vibrate mode (either by using the rocker, or going through settings) my phone vibrates when receiving calls, but not when receiving emails or texts, they just stay silent, so I am completely unaware that I have received anything. Is this actually how Motorolla designed it's phone, or am I making a mistake? I receive texts/emails much more than phone calls, but am not always in an environment where I can have my ringer going off. Is there a way to set my text and email alerts (and any other alerts [voicemail, etc.]) to vibrate when in vibrate mode.
