My phone is Running way to hot on this kernal for Pete and I haven't even put O.C. yet the speed is good but is their a way to get like a 800 Mhz Kernal for ESE, b/c haven't found one yet. Thanks....actually I'm not even sure Pete is running a kernal.

What is the latest ROM pete has put out? Has he done a BB for the froyo if so a link? Did some searching last night all (I think) I am finding are the OTA ROMs that have come out that he has rooted. Is that all there is, been sitting on 2.1 and decided to make the jump.

View 32 Replies View RelatedI installed my first custom rom and kernal yesterday and unfortunately I'm having some battery problems. I left my phone on for 7 hours idle and it only has about 80% left.
The rom i used is BB .4, Kernal is Chevy ULV 1gig
My idle temp is 26c, basic use temp is 36c (browsing, right after quadrant use), is that high?
The usage breakdown is:
Total time on: 6hrs 52 m
Phone Idle: 26% 6hrs 43 min
Cell Standby 20% 6 hrs 49 min
LauncherPro 16% 5m 56s
Android System 12% 4m 32s
FlipClock Blackout 9% 3m 31s
Voice Calls 8% 1m 35s
Display 7% 6m 7s
If it is the kernal then i have to go back to stock right? because ULVs use the least amount of power?
During installation of rom and kernal, i did the wipe data/cache stuff. I also installed a custom boot animation. lots of stuff to do on my first day.
I have the FRF57 Froyo ROM installed, and with it comes a 600 OC. I'd like to push it up to 1GHz, but I'm unfamiliar with OCing the Droid. Could you guys post a link to the kernal, please? I can't find one. I'm using the Clockwork flash. Also, to install the kernal, is it the same as installing the ROM? (unzip it into clockwork backup folder, boot in recovery, and restore it?)

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt looks like Chevy's kernal is breaking the root access for Titanium. Anyone else having the same issue? When I first installed BB .7, Titanium worked fine. Then I installed Chevy's kernal and now it doesn't have root access. Looks like a couple other people are having the same issue on AllDroid. I'm using BB .7 with Chevy's 1ghz kernal.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if anyone else has noticed this, I have searched around a bit so sorry if this has been covered before but this is my second Droid X to do this. When I lock the screen, my signal strength goes from 3-4 bars down to 1 bar after a few minutes. When I quickly tap the home button, but do NOT unlock the screen I can see that there is only 1 bar, and even sometimes the 3G icon is gone, (i.e. no data is transmitting, but I am getting a cell signal). Once I unlock the screen, I immediately will see the bars jump to either 3-4, depending on my location, and/or the 3G will pop back up (if it was missing in the first place).
My conclusions about this are that this is a reason why some devices crush the battery life and others don't. And, there is an issue with the phone hardware/software radio communications. If when the screen is locked it is losing signal and constantly going back and forth between 1x/3g/no data, that would explain why some people are having their battery dead within 5-6 hours. This phenomena is occurring on my second Droid X. I have yet to notify Motorola formally, other than through Verizon, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there is experiencing the same issues. Mind you, it is sometimes sporadic and others very consistent! There are times when the phone will be very hot in my pocket, and I suspect this is the reason. I know how to back out of applications and i can confirm that I do not have any running in the background that are sucking data.
Please keep in mind, I experience this with and without task killers and I live 5 minutes from Downtown Minneapolis where coverage is excellent. I also do not use Juice Defender or any other battery management program which may cut data when the screen is locked.
I have noticed that my desire's in call volume reduces while im speaking to someone. For example, when im speaking to someone, the volume of the conversation goes lower and lower, but when I move the phone, the volume comes back.

And with it, my battery temperature has been idling in the 30-35 range, higher in my pocket, and therefore its been at 40 constantly. I've done nothing today with it besides maybe 15 minutes of music via headphones total, and I'm getting like 17 hour battery life. I used to get this while spamming apps, playing around, browsing, etc. Does temperature increase battery use or is it time to switch ROMs (Petes 0.8 has been a battery drain on me).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted 2.1update1, I backed up twice with sprecovey...2.1 unrooted, 2.1 rooted. Then downloaded Ti backup and did a full backup of apps. I bought ROM manager and downloaded p3droid 1ghz kernal and flashed it. I know it probably worked but I ended up restoring to the back up that ROM manager made just before flashing p3droid kernal. How can I restore my settings and apps after I flash a ROM? Is there a way to add p3driod to over clock without overiding my apps?Didn't want to get in too deep without finding out first. I read for weeks before I rooted, Im ready for the quick answer. Im considering CM or Nexbeast...not sure. I really don't mind the rooted droid OS, but id like to use wireless tether and over clock a little. If I flash to a new rom can I redownload TI backup and have it restore all my apps from my SD? I also have sprecovery backups on my PC, but that wont help because they were created on stock 2.1 rooted.

I really like the eris for the price, however the droid has a lot of perks too like bigger higher res screen, more modern cpu, and improved battery life. I plan to root either device. What do you guys think, will I be disappointed with an eris? Is the smaller lower res screen bad for browsing? Can I expect to leave the wifi radio on all day for voip without too much in the way of battery life problems?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Eris sense November, loaded and uninstalled way too many apps, performed hard resets, loaded the 2.1 leak the night it was "found", and even done a couple hard resets sinse then. Had a new one pop up tonight, playing aroung I installed LockBot free. playing with it and Home, the phone got laggy. So, first thing I do is reboot. the phone restarts, but now it has a translucient box in the lower left corner and says "Safe Mode" and none of my Non-Android (ie Sense, Handcent, Pandore,...) widgets are showing up on the screen, let alone working, they just have little boxes that say "Problem Loading Gadget". Rebooted again, "Safe Mode" is gone, but widgets stil not working.....

I am not getting great battery life as of right now and am hoping that someone can suggest a new Kernal to help with this.
