It makes my battery usage worse. What if I raise it to max 7? Will I see a battery boost, or what problems might I come across? I am going to set mine at 7 and I will update if I see any differences.

FYI, the slot cycle defines how often the device wakes up and checks the CDMA network for messages, incoming calls, etc. This does not effect the throughput of a data connection. It will only improve responsiveness for catching incoming calls and messages from the network.Each increment in settings doubles or haves the interval time. Slot cycle 0 wakes the device to check the paging channel every 1.28s. 1 is every 2.56, 2 is 5.12s, etc.Only thing you are doing is using more battery.any other observations are a placebo.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm shopping for a cheap used droid for verizon and think I have it narrowed down to the eris or droid 1. I really like the eris for the price, however the droid has a lot of perks too like bigger higher res screen, more modern cpu, and improved battery life. I plan to root either device. What do you guys think, will I be disappointed with an eris? Is the smaller lower res screen bad for browsing? Can I expect to leave the wifi radio on all day for voip without too much in the way of battery life problems?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've had my Eris sense November, loaded and uninstalled way too many apps, performed hard resets, loaded the 2.1 leak the night it was "found", and even done a couple hard resets sinse then. Had a new one pop up tonight, playing aroung I installed LockBot free. playing with it and Home, the phone got laggy. So, first thing I do is reboot. the phone restarts, but now it has a translucient box in the lower left corner and says "Safe Mode" and none of my Non-Android (ie Sense, Handcent, Pandore,...) widgets are showing up on the screen, let alone working, they just have little boxes that say "Problem Loading Gadget". Rebooted again, "Safe Mode" is gone, but widgets stil not working.....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if anyone else has noticed this, I have searched around a bit so sorry if this has been covered before but this is my second Droid X to do this. When I lock the screen, my signal strength goes from 3-4 bars down to 1 bar after a few minutes. When I quickly tap the home button, but do NOT unlock the screen I can see that there is only 1 bar, and even sometimes the 3G icon is gone, (i.e. no data is transmitting, but I am getting a cell signal). Once I unlock the screen, I immediately will see the bars jump to either 3-4, depending on my location, and/or the 3G will pop back up (if it was missing in the first place).
My conclusions about this are that this is a reason why some devices crush the battery life and others don't. And, there is an issue with the phone hardware/software radio communications. If when the screen is locked it is losing signal and constantly going back and forth between 1x/3g/no data, that would explain why some people are having their battery dead within 5-6 hours. This phenomena is occurring on my second Droid X. I have yet to notify Motorola formally, other than through Verizon, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there is experiencing the same issues. Mind you, it is sometimes sporadic and others very consistent! There are times when the phone will be very hot in my pocket, and I suspect this is the reason. I know how to back out of applications and i can confirm that I do not have any running in the background that are sucking data.
Please keep in mind, I experience this with and without task killers and I live 5 minutes from Downtown Minneapolis where coverage is excellent. I also do not use Juice Defender or any other battery management program which may cut data when the screen is locked.
I'm new to the forums but I couldn't find an answer. I'm posting from the road, don't worry I'm not driving, but this screen is way to bright. Thw lowest the display goes is giving me eye strain. Is there any way to make the lowest setting lower?

And with it, my battery temperature has been idling in the 30-35 range, higher in my pocket, and therefore its been at 40 constantly. I've done nothing today with it besides maybe 15 minutes of music via headphones total, and I'm getting like 17 hour battery life. I used to get this while spamming apps, playing around, browsing, etc. Does temperature increase battery use or is it time to switch ROMs (Petes 0.8 has been a battery drain on me).
