You guys know whether one can watch YouTube videos in high quality or "HQ" format on the Droid? Is there a setting or an option that allows one to stream the HQ versions rather than the lower quality versions?

It used to work but now it doesn't seem to be allowing me to be able to. I'd hate to have to do a factor reset on my phone to fix this. Anyone know of anything that could be causing this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm at home, my WiFi speed is typically almost 3m DOWN and 700k UP. (Lame compared to my speeds at work) While my 3G is typically about HALF of those speeds. But here's where my confusion sets in. When I watch a YouTube video with the stock YouTube app, videos buffer faster and/or play MUCH better when using 3G. I'm wondering if the 3G connection is utilizing some kind of compression that allows this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to download mp3 files from my file server onto my Droid. Everytime I try to download a song I get the error message Download Unsuccessful. I thought it was a problem with my server but all of my computers can download from it, and I just went and got my mom's Droid ERIS to test. It could successfully download mp3 files from the server. This is ridiculous, why wouldn't my Droid be able to download these files but the ERIS can? Is this a case of Droid DOESN'T?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is a cool trick to save videos to your G1.If you use firefox web browser you will need to download a plugin called download helper. Now you go to youtube and find a video you like.then wait for it to load.then when you select download helper in the top right corner you select from dropdown menu the file name of video followed by .flv.when you download the .flv file then i use xvidforpsp and convert the .flv to mp4 ot h.264 and then copy it to the G1 memory card and tada you just saved the youtube video for playback to your G1 to play at anytime and save without having to find it again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI commute to school underground with no service for roughly 1.5 hours. During that time, I like to watch youtube videos. Besides TubeMate, is there any Android app (or any method on Android) to download youtube videos AUTOMATICALLY? I want to have the videos download while I sleep so it is available to me when I wake up and get ready. Right now I manually download some videos using TubeMate (when I remember).
I did have another setup using "youtube-dl" program on linux and setting up a cron job to download the latest video from a channel. I would then upload this to dropbox and then redownload it on my Android using FolderSync app.
Any better way to auto download new videos from youtube channels. I have a Galaxy S3.
I just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNo idea why this wasn't posted in the Droid forum as well, but this works just fine for us. There's even an option in to always to HQ, even on mobile. Install it and enjoy. Credits go to pardonmyfreedom for posting this up in the Incredible forum.
YouTube HD from the EVO :D
The File

Or, attached at the bottom of the post!
Installation Instructions
Either download it straight from your Droid browser, and click on it when it's done. Or, download it on your computer, put it on your sd card, use a file manager like ASTRO to find it, click on it, and install it.
You *may* get a warning about how a system app is being updated. That's cool, because it is
I've had the same "Most Viewed" and "Most Discussed" videos on my Youtube app homepage since the day I got the phone... I can't stand apps that never update properly and so far the Youtube and Facebook ones are both doing it
View 5 Replies View Relatedfor some reason i can't seem to log in to the built-in youtube app. it works fine via the browser, but when i try to log in via the app it says either "the username or password isn't valid" or "there was a network error while trying to sign in to XXX. retry now or press the back button to cancel".i'm going on vacation in two days and was looking forward to uploading a few movies on the fly. looks like i will have to do it manually via the browser.
View 10 Replies View RelatedNot sure if there is a way to do this or not, but I don't see an option to share a Youtube Video with a GChat conversation? When you long press the video, then Share, everything is listed to share too: facebook, twitter, messaging, gmail --- but not GChat. You can work around by Sharing to Gmail, then Copy the text, and paste it into your Gchat conversation, but hmm? How do you report that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to access my favorites and playlists, it's keeps asking me for my password telling me I entered the incorrect password or account information has changed. Nothing has changed. I am able to log onto Youtube on my pc with the same password, but can not on the Droid.
It was working just fine earlier in the evening, but I can't imagine what changed.
If I look under Accounts and Sync in the settings section, I see my gmail account and my youtube account. When I click REMOVE ACCOUNT under the youtube setting, it tells me I am going to erase all my messages and contacts. I thought I could reset the password this way, but I was concerned it was going to erase my gmail contacts as I don't have any youtube contacts and thus don't know what they are referencing.
