One of the main reasons for me to root was to get away from the slow refreshing icons on the home screen after the Verizon OTA 2.2 update.
I installed Lithium, but perhaps it is based on the same build? Is it the kernel? I still have the problem and it is very annoying.
Any way to get around this?
This is the original thread I was in. Is it that there is no known fix? Or is it related only to the Droid and 2.2? My wife's Incredible doesn't seem to have the problem with 2.2, but it could be Sense, RAM, or some other factor.
2.2 slow icon refresh
When I'm at home, my WiFi speed is typically almost 3m DOWN and 700k UP. (Lame compared to my speeds at work) While my 3G is typically about HALF of those speeds. But here's where my confusion sets in. When I watch a YouTube video with the stock YouTube app, videos buffer faster and/or play MUCH better when using 3G. I'm wondering if the 3G connection is utilizing some kind of compression that allows this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

for some reason i can't seem to log in to the built-in youtube app. it works fine via the browser, but when i try to log in via the app it says either "the username or password isn't valid" or "there was a network error while trying to sign in to XXX. retry now or press the back button to cancel".i'm going on vacation in two days and was looking forward to uploading a few movies on the fly. looks like i will have to do it manually via the browser.
View 10 Replies View RelatedNot sure if there is a way to do this or not, but I don't see an option to share a Youtube Video with a GChat conversation?When you long press the video, then Share, everything is listed to share too: facebook, twitter, messaging, gmail --- but not GChat.You can work around by Sharing to Gmail, then Copy the text, and paste it into your Gchat conversation, but hmm? How do you report that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to access my favorites and playlists, it's keeps asking me for my password telling me I entered the incorrect password or account information has changed. Nothing has changed. I am able to log onto Youtube on my pc with the same password, but can not on the Droid.
It was working just fine earlier in the evening, but I can't imagine what changed.
If I look under Accounts and Sync in the settings section, I see my gmail account and my youtube account. When I click REMOVE ACCOUNT under the youtube setting, it tells me I am going to erase all my messages and contacts. I thought I could reset the password this way, but I was concerned it was going to erase my gmail contacts as I don't have any youtube contacts and thus don't know what they are referencing.
Is anybody else Youtube not working after updating to 2.2?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my phone, one of the things I did to save on battery life was to turn off the "always on mobile" setting, as I read that the refresh intervals still work properly and refresh according to your settings (ie: mail will still be checked every 5 min, etc.). For the next few weeks, it did work properly like I read and I never had issues when i pressed the sleep/standby button on my phone as far as receiving mail and google voice messages every 5 minutes.the other day I checked the "enable always on mobile" box, and realized it was taking up too much battery, so I decided to uncheck it once again, thinking it would go back to how it was before, but now I am not receiving mail / google voice / etc. properly, and only seems to refresh if I take the phone out of standby.For example, with the "scoreboard" google app I will not receive an update until i physically press the power on my phone (which can be 3 hours later after the game ends), I have mail that I received at 5:00pm that I didnt receive until I physically turn on the screen at 5:45, and I don't get notifications for text messages through google voice properly ,same as above. I had a google voice text message received at 3:00pm and didn't receive notification until I turned on my phone at 6:00 pm.I have checked the scoreboard app, google voice, and mail settings and they are all set to 5 min intervals. Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? I only noticed this ever since I "checked" and then "unchecked" the always-on-mobile setting under wireless settings. I know 100% I had "always on" turned off before when I was still receiving everything fine.

I can login on my pc but I can't on my phone widget. Is anyone else having this problem and what kinda of fix can I do? I did a factory reset for another problem and I still can't login into the youtube account after that either. I have also tried changing my password and it didn't work either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I search for a music vid on youtube, it only results with live performances, not an actual music video, even when I type in "official music video" I get random and live results of stuff that has nothing to do with what I searched for. Also when I go directly to the site, it asks to view vids with the browser, but nothing happens becauuse of flash player. When I first got my droid, the internet worked great, now its slower than dial up. And face book problems suck so bad I have to type in facebook.com everytime, even then, it keeps directing me to touch, and mobile. I know some of you are having sim problems with facebook, actual help would be great, I don't know how to disable viewing in mobile only.

Well it didnt work now i have no youtube app. Can someone post a youtube.apk for me to download and install from the Droid X 2.2 leak (rooted). Note I tried the ported EVO version, it just force closes. I think i need the exact one from the droid x 2.2 leak. Can someone post it so I dont have to do the SBF recovery, then root, then install the leak.

How you delete the browser and youtube app on a 2.2. The uninstall button in settings is greyed out. Perhaps I need to get an older version of droid.

Watch YouTube feed offline, extract f to get a Doggcatcher url that's compatible. For format, select MP4 (iTunes). I then email myself the URLs and copy and paste into Doggcatcher.

I tried this in the YouTube app and the browser, but I got the same results. For this particular search, my Droid came up with 4 results, and my computer 20 results. I've also done google searches for particular videos, only to get a "video not compatible with YouTube mobile" (or something like that). Are these 2 issues related? View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted running chevy's simply stunning 4.9. I've noticed some of my apps I have installed doesn't show as installed on the market. So I wasn't receiving updates for it. I click on the app and click install and it reinstalls onto my phone with no issues. However my youtube app doesn't fare as well. It downloads but install is always unsuccessful.
Second problem is with my speaker.
I've got the gba emulator and occasionally play some pokemon fire red. This phone I currently have is a refurb replacement. My first had a bad headphone jack. I was able to play on my first one with volume on full blast without it being all raspy, unfortunately my replacement one I currently have cannot do it past half volume.
I installed Smoked Glass 6.01 about a week ago and I REALLY like it. Especially with the Helix launcher. The only thing is that I seem to be missing my YouTube app. Never mind the HD-default I was promised during installation (I didn't accidentally "uncheck" it, it should have installed), but I don't have ANY youtube app. Anyone else have this problem? Or is there anywhere I can simply download the required .apk.
