I was complaining that the only way to listen to a message no matter how you set it was via the speakerphone speaker. Well looky here... Guess google isn't as open as we'd thought.

During a video hangout, the audio randomly switches from "speakerphone" mode to handset mode. The video itself is fine. The other person's audio will get really quiet because it's coming from the handset speaker, and they will complain that they can't hear me anymore.
After this happens, I can manually hit the speaker button and choose the option to use the Speaker rather than Handset mode, and the problem fixes itself. However, the fix usually lasts less than a couple minutes. Within 1-3 minutes it will change back to handset mode. This happens even if the phone is sitting down on the table during the hangout and I'm not interacting with it and there's no chance for me to inadvertently press a button or cover up the proximity sensor.
I'm using an EVO LTE with a stock ROM w/ root if matters.
Just purchased the Legend and there appears to be an issue with the speaker. I want to identify if it is just my phone or if other users are experiencing this problem. The speaker on the phone is producing static whenever audio is being played. It can be heard clearly when doing the following: Click on the volume button on the side (either up or down) and place the phone to your ear. Open the phone application, click on a number and place the phone to your ear. The static lasts for 5 or 6 seconds and then dies off. Would appreciate if anybody with the phone coud check this out as I'm unsure if a return is required.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a little issue here with my droid's audio output: it seems to be randomly deciding it should come out of the handset rather than the speaker. I notice this happens often when I end a call, that the audio doesn't switch back to the speaker, but it also seems to happen completely at random - for example, it happened at some point when I was asleep last night, which prevented my phone waking me up when my mom was trying to call me this morning, because the ringtone came out of the handset, and thus, was too quiet for me to hear.
Using google voice, I found a workaround - I set voicemails to play through the speaker instead of the handset in the app, so if I go in there and play a voicemail, it'll switch me back to speaker. I can also sometimes get switched back to speaker by making a call, but that's inconsistent, since calls are just as likely to cause the problem as to solve it. I don't know if this is being caused by an app or not.
Worked perfect in my car every day until I installed the update, now it connects and doesn't send any audio to the car... just keeps playing through the phone speaker. Wtf happened?

Not sure if cherry rplayer is the culprit or not. I have also noticed that my media player starts playing by itself...
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is a different problem than the several threads that talk about low volume from the speaker. My normal speaker volume is adequate, except perhaps in a very noisy environment. But this is what is happening: At some point speaker volume will be normal and then later in the day I use an app that has sound, like YouTube or Google Maps navigation. The sound from the speaker is so low that I have to hold the speaker up to my ear to hear it, even in a very quiet room. Much lower volume than it usually is. I push the up volume rocker and it shows that Media Volume is already at the max. It is as if something muted the speaker, but not quite fully muted it because I could hear it by holding it to my ear.
The first time it happened, I had opened the YouTube app and played a video. The speaker volume was so low I had to hold the speaker to my ear. I plugged in some headphones to check whether the volume was normal there. It was. When I removed the headphones from the jack, the speaker volume returned back to normal................
Vertically between the at&t logo and the handset speaker and to the left, there are 2 cutouts of the black trim behind the screen plastic/surface. They almost look like LEDs (although I realize they aren't, or shouldnt be). You can see them in the owners manual pics but they arent labeled on their diagram, and I can't figure out what they are.

Do all the earpieces support streaming or playing music/sprint tv audio/Google listen?Are they all mono or do some single earpieces have stereo?Is there an industry standard for noise reduction that I should look for in the feature list? Any other tips if I just want to buy one and be satisfied its the right one?

Things only turn when I turn the phone left or straight up, not right or upside down.

One person with whom I was speaking said that I sounded like I was running or was in a windy location (I was calling from a quiet hotel room). On my end there was noticeable static. As a test, I hung up and paired the Jabra with my Blackberry 8830, and the person with whom I was speaking said that I sounded a little distant, but otherwise clear. On my end, the audio quality was good.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust put the latest ROM on my phone last night and rooted. I was all excited adding my apps back and setting the phone up that I neglected to test the phone.
I received a phone call today and couldn't hear anything. Like the person on the other end muted their phone. Now the kicker, if I put the phone on Speakerphone I can hear the caller just fine (as fine as pre 2.2). I looked around and haven't been able to find any reference to this.
Not sure if this is a GS issue or a Navigon issue...I am trying to use Navigon with a headset. But when there is audio guidance, the audio comes on both the speaker and the headset. I would expect the audio to be heard only from the headset.

I have a samsung galaxy s2 on AT&T running android 4.0.4. I have the bluetooth set up to play audio through my car stereo.
Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago when I accidentally booted my phone into safe mode. I re-booted it back into normal mode, but a lot of my settings got messed up after that happened.
The odd thing is that now, when I am in my car, the phone connects to the stereo over bluetooth - I see the name of the song, artist, etc information on the car stereo, and can do things like skip to the next song using the controls in the car. However, the sound actually plays through the phone speaker instead of the car speakers!

I am using a MediaPlayer instance in order to stream audio files from an Internet location. The audio player is in a separate activity. The user can select from a list of audio files and come to this activity which plays the audio.Now the user might go back to the previous activity (with the list)and select another audio file. In this case, I want to stop any other audio that is playing and start playing the new audio which was selected.Is there any way I can know whether an audio file is playing without having to hold on to the MediaPlayer object?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone figured out how to play audio from the HTC EVO (mp3, Pandora, etc) through the USB or HDMI ports?I've looked seemingly everywhere and have not found anyone who has done it.I want to be able to amply drive my Grado SR80i headphones.I believe I could do it with a portable amp like HeadRoom's Total AirHead through the headphone jack, but if I'm not mistaken, the headphone jack is sonically inferior to a line out jack. The problem is, the EVO doesn't have a line out jack.my inquiry regarding harnessing audio from either the USB or HDMI ports.Let's assume the answer to my question above is NO.I'm relatively satisfied with the sound quality I get from the EVO using Sennheiser PX 100 headphones and the tiny FiiO amp. I just switched over from the Metro PCS Samsung Code which is a Windows 6 phone to EVO and I put my SD Card in my EVO. All my music files play and the mp4 video files play but the audio from the mp4 video files dont. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to very quickly port over an html application with plays sound (with soundmanager2) to a native android app using WebView. From my research, I haven't seen any evidence that sound, such as mp3s, can be played via javascript or any other methods using WebView.
My goal now is to quickly port over the html app and then eventually create a truely native application without using WebViews.
If anyone has been able to successfully implement playing audio using WebViews and Javascript or if this is just not possible at this time.
