View 1 RepliesI have a couple of MP4 videos that used to play on my HTC Desire before it got its Froyo uodate, that dont appear to be now. When I click on it to play, it comes up Cannot Play Video - Sorry, this video cannot be played. When I look at the details it has Type : Video/mp4 Am I doing something stupidly wrong? Also is there an easy piece of software that can copy DVDs into a format my Desire will understand. I'm after an ease of use rather than cheap bit of software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have HTC Desire with Android 2.1 and Windows 7 Premium 32bit. I have created some 3GP videos on the HTC and can play these successfully. When I transfer the file to Windows 7 the playback via Windows Media play doesn't have any sound. Same files playback with volume via iTunes. I'd really like to use these files with Windows Media Player. Is this some sort of codec issue? Why are such task seemingly simple tasks made so difficult?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to find an media player that plays videos but when I minimize or multitask to another app I want the videos audio to keep playing like pandora does. The reason for this is bcuz I rip videos off of youtube to mainly listen to the music.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm big into freestyling. i have over 1500 instrumentals on my phone.i can't figure out how to play them and record myself (either audio or video) at the same time.i figure i'm either gonna have to download a new music player that won't close or a video/audio recorder that won't close the "Music" player that came with my evo.and before anyone goes tryin to be smart, i realize that even if i was able to accomplish such an action the quality would probably be really low due to speaker and mic being so close.my intent is more of a "on the fly lyric composition" rather than a " put myself on youtube to show everyone how awesome i am"
View 2 Replies View RelatedI really want to know why I can not hear any sound whatsoever simply because the video uses 5.1ch aac instead of 2ch aac. The video part of mp4 plays perfectly, encoded to h.264. I would really like to know if there is any media player able to play these videos correctly without having to resort to any kind of re-encoding (a waste of time when the original encodes should play fine) or having to use special 5.1ch headphones (bulky and not practical to keep on hand all the time). Also, does anyone know if this might be corrected with Froyo 2.2? And last, all my videos that have 2ch audio play as they should, sound and all. Same codec settings were used.
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen I'm listening to audio with my headphones through cherry rplayer and then take the headphones out to use the speaker, I don't get any sound...I have to shut down any audio players functions before I get any sound out of the speaker. Not sure if cherry rplayer is the culprit or not. I have also noticed that my media player starts playing by itself...
View 8 Replies View RelatedInvoked device native player to play audio file, it opens android native player on top of the application but when selecting to back out or return to the application, device automatically stops playing the current media.
Sample code:
Intent intent = new Intent();
intent.setAction(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
intent.setDataAndType(Uri.fromFile(file),"audio/*");
startActivity(intent);
How can I implement so that Device should continue to play audio in the background when selecting to back out or return to the application
I noticed that you can't adjust media volume without first playing media. Like you have to, for example, press the play button before pressing rocker volume in order to adjust media volume or else you'll just be adjusting ringer volume. This is unfortunate since games also use media volume. So if you wonna start up a quick game in a quiet setting, your in trouble if you were listening music before and never turned down/off the media volume. Unless I'm missing something and there is in fact a way to do it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an LG ally and I connect my bluetooth. It's connecting to media audio and I can hear music videos, you tube and my visual VM but not the people I call.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought I could go the the main youtube.com website and play videos? Don't we have flash lite on the hero? Does anyone get videos to play or are we only limited to the youtube app?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen playing videos the framerate is really poor, and sometimes it just plays the first few seconds of the vid and stops, but the audio continues. So, basically my question is, what are the best ideals for a video to play on the hero
Resolution?
File format?
Audio quality?
Vid Quality?
Framerate? et
Might be a daft question but is there any app I could download that will assist me with this. On my onld phone (Windows Mobile based) I could listen to certain sports commentaries via the internet stream. (I think they are .wma files). Is there any app that will allow me to play these or is it beyond android to play windows media format at the moment. for information the Hero tries to play but returns a content not supported' type error
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently ripped and downloaded a DVD to my hero. However, the video plays fine, but the audio doesn't seem to be working. The volume in the "media player" is turned up all the way.Any ideas on why the audio isn't working?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to know if there is a way for watching .WMV videos on the HTC Hero.
I already know that it will play MPEG-4 videos without a problem (you can use the RealPlayer Video Downloader to download HQ/HD videos from places like Youtube and it automatically saves them to MPEG-4 format).
However, I want to transfer some files like music videos onto my HTC Hero and having tried several times, using the RealPlayer Converter, to convert the .mpg files to .wmv, I can't watch them on the Hero.
However, I recently looked at one of the threads (I think on a different forum) and he said that he could watch videos in WMV format using 750kbps on resolution 480x320. But RealPlayer only allows for 768kbps and resolution as 480p HD as the nearest possible (which was the setting I ordinarily chose).
The other strange thing is that when I go onto the Albums part of the phone to see if I can view any videos, it shows a thumbnail image of the music video (a preview image of the video) and when I play it, I can hear the music, but the video itself fails to appear.
I have a strange thing going on with my htc hero, whenever someone calls they can hear james blunt your beautiful playing over the ringing until I pick up. I haven't set it up and i dont have any james blunt on my phone even after a full restore it still does it. Any ideas how to stop it from doing this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have taken a few videos on my phone and would like to upload them to share with people. I get an error message when trying to send to Youtube, Gmail or text msg that the file is too large. Any ideas (maybe through a downloadable app??) for how to get these off my phone and onto a computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a lot of smart phones but never used bluetooth headsets and have a few questions.Can you get a bluetooth earpiece for answering phone calls that lets you answer from the headset once paired?
Do all the earpieces support streaming or playing music/sprint tv audio/Google listen?Are they all mono or do some single earpieces have stereo?Is there an industry standard for noise reduction that I should look for in the feature list? Any other tips if I just want to buy one and be satisfied its the right one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know where to find a media player that would allow you to play streaming videos on Android Browser?
I want to know if you can play streaming videos on your web browser on your android os phone.
I want to be able to use/view the video's I record with my phone on my computer. (open from an email or use in window's movie maker)I have a new computer with Windows seven at work and a Vista laptop at home. I can send the video to myself and try to open in from my email or tether to the computer and transfer the file manually. Either way I can't open with windows media player. Video's taken with default "Camcorder" app on a myTough 3G running Android 1.6.I know it has something to do with the codec's the phone uses but wonder why they wouldn't use codec's that are compatible with the most commonly used pc's?Is there any way around this? Some kind of converter for the computer or for the phone?Is there another camcorder app that can record video with a different codec or is it phone hardware specific?So far have been able to use these forum's to sort out most of my Android problems but I'm stumped on this one. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Should be more user friendly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of videos I ripped using Handbrake on Mac. They are all h.264 videos. For some reason they do not play on the Evo. I can hear the audio, but I get no video.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've gotten the ffmpeg4 but not the H.264 videos to work. I just get a black screen with the audio coming through.
View 27 Replies View Relatedi have a HTC Evo updated to 2.2, when i go on Facebook using my phone i'm not able to play the video's people post links to, it tries to start the video but then it says: Cannot play video, sorry, this video cannot be played.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAre there limitations on file size, or something. I knew which formats I can use, so that's not an issue. The issue is that when I put an mp4 on my Evo, it will show up as a black screen with only the audio playing. Those were with larger files, approximately 1.6gb, and 2.3gb. I did get a a smaller file (about 20mb) to play, although the audio was off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from an iPhone to the HTC Desire. I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I transfer HTC Desire videos from phone to computer, I can view the video but with no sound. This also happened with my old Touch HD. The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?
