Is there a good program to backup your all your apps, files, shortcuts, bookmarks and personal settings. I know Astro has a "backup" function but I don't know what it actually backs up. I know you can back up your contacts Google.
I guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to "clone" your Droid, not just the SD card.

Phone has developed a very annoying buzzing/vibration during calls and Vodafone UK will be exchanging the handset tomorrow.
My question is, if I use the SE backup software will it backup everything? Apps, SD card files, settings etc. Has anyone had any experience of this, can you offer any advice?

It doesn't matter whether I run simple or advanced backup, both of them get stuck about halfway while dumping the system.tar.
I let my last attempt sit for nearly the whole 2nd period of the Penguins/Islanders game and it hasn't moved. Any advice? I think I may try a different kernel just for shits and giggles.

If not, is there a way to get it 100% back to factory default settings? I haven't really customized it yet, so if I break it during rooting or BRICK it, I know there are UNBRICKING steps posted already, but I want to make sure I don't end up with a FUBAR phone during this process, or afterwards.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have A LOT of apps on my Droid. Way too many, but that's a subject for another day. Getting to them on the default menu is impossible, its WAY to much scrolling. My home screen space is very limited - the left side is a full screen calendar, and the right side is a nearly full screen task list. The main home screen loses some space to a clock widget, so I end up with only a 4x3 space on my center screen to work with. Given all of the apps I have and all of the functions they do, this doesn't work. I need direct & instant access to at least a dozen things on the home screen, Plus much more a few clicks away. I have thus far found TWO decently sound organizational options for my Droid, but neither quite do it for me. Hopefully you guys know of another one that I have not yet found.Folders on the home screen. Put things in folders.Problems: Despite ability to name folders, Grey folders all look the same, making it harder to quickly grab the one you want when there is a screen full of them.impossible to nest folders (this feature alone would solve my problems)Folders don't auto close, pressing the home button takes you back to the home screen with the folder still open (yet one more button to hit to close it).Great app on the marketplace called "Apps Organizer"Pros:makes a list of all your apps, then lets you assign label(s) to them (like gmail). Then you can create shortcuts on your home screen to a specific label.Lets you select a unique Icon for each label.
Problems:When you click on the shortcut to open up that category, the tray of Icons is TINY. Significantly smaller than normal. This makes reading text labels of the apps "legible", but only with good eyesight.No nesting.No shortcuts to gmail labels, direct dial, direct messaging. So those groups of icons all have to go in the folders the plain grey indistinguishable folders.Temporary workaround:Create a folder for gmail labels, direct messaging and calling "folders" on the home screen.create 1 "reorganized" apps menu folder on the home screen that would link to ALL the apps, organized by labels into 6-8 categories. No more endless scrolling for the "occasional use" app.Create half a dozen labels for HIGH use applications and place those on the home screen for direct access to those categories.None of the options presented REALLY get the job done. grey indistinguishable folders remain, I still have to launch everything out of the TINY icons and text used by Apps Organizer, direct message, email, calling, labels still needs some work. Any suggestions? Am I missing any options in the above, or other ideas that would enhance this spit and duct tape organizational system?
Thinking about switching to BB from Ultimate Droid v10. That being said, anytime I do this, I backup the ROM entirely through SPRecovery. I've used Titanium Backup, MyBackup Pro, etc., and I can't seem to restore the settings/apps whenever I switch to a different ROM. This makes the process entirely pointless to me, as I don't feel like setting up home screens/redoing all my settings each time I switch ROMs.
Titanium Backup likes to give me parse errors regardless of the level of compression that is set. MyBackup Pro reports a successful backup, but nothing is actually restored except apps (no app/system settings, no home screens, etc). I've heard that to make Titanium Backup work, you must set something in the shell but I have no idea how or what to put in there.
I though Google was about integration, but today I failed to load a video using both the Droid or my PC (usb) to my picasa web page...
I think it is a bit silly that Picasa isn't compatible with Android videos... 3gp files (Is this phone specific?)...
But I can upload to youtube!
Anybody knows of a good converter for these files?
Anyway, sad... Even worst after seeing the Windows Phone 7 preview. Maybe that's going to kick the development a bit.
The micro usb port on my phone has gotten loose over the last few days, and so T-mo is sending me out a replacement phone. I would like to completely backup my phone (ideally to my dropbox folder) so I can easily restore all of my apps and settings on the new vibrant when it comes. I already have Astro, and have backed up my apps to my SD card. But I would like something more comprehensive, say the way Blackberry Desktop software can do a complete back up from one phone and restore it all to a different phone. What backup apps do you use?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI probably nuked my Droid doing something, either messing with it rooted or cold/snow/moisture got to it. I'd be in the middle of a call and the other person wouldn't hear me. This would happen randomly. I went to Verizon and they simply shipped me a new phone.
Now that I have it, i thought all my apps would be on the SD card. Nope. I can only get back Apps that are the Market has marked as needing update. all my other apps are gone. How can I move them along with my custom setting like GDE etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHad issues with install of Watermark'D theme over CM6 rom. Finally got all that sorted but had to elect to install Google Apps separately after the fact. I restored backups of all my apps through Titanium Backup except for three - Tweetdeck, Weather Channel, and Yellowbook. Titanium would not restore them - I would click on install, it would try, then come back with an installation failed message. Went to both the market directly and Appbrain and attempted to install them from there. Found them listed but when I clicked on it to install got an item not found message. Tried to install Tweetdeck from the apk and got the same message as with Titanium. Oh and have downloaded other app from market successfully. Any ideas?
