I have had my Droid since lauch. The GPS which i use a ton geocaching and with the google maps has been flawless. Now all of a sudden the GPS has stopped being accurate. It always says im half mile to where i am, google maps/navigation doesnt work, and neither does any program i have that uses GPS. Always says the GPS Signal is not there. Any tips or has anyone have had this happen to you?

Searching around I've found loads of people have the same issue. Suddenly you'll loose access to gmail (unable to load, retry?), market place and sync just shows errors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FACTORY RESET. Now I've found you can resolve easily by deleting the com.android.providers.settings older entirely via root, then rebooting. at shell type: rm -r /data/data/com.android.providers.settings. THEN REBOOT. You'll loose some settings, ringtones, notifications, screen brightness, but these are easily reset. If when you sync you get a ! you may also have to, or like to, clear the data under settings>apps> for gmail, gmailstorage, contacts,contactstorage, calender, calendarstorage - DO A SYNC FIRST AND CHECK IN YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT ON A PC AS YOU'LL LOOSE ANYTHING NOT SYNC'D. But why do so many devices suddenly bork requiring this? Does anyone know?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy GPS quit working yesterday in Ruidoso, NM. Was working great all weekend, even in the mountains. Yesterday morning, it refused to find my location. Rebooted several times (didn't remove battery-should have) but it never kicked in. Turned GPS off, but kept turning it on periodically just to check it on the drive back to Austin. When we got home, I checked it one more time and it was working? I'm very glad it's working, but just wonder why it stopped? I really missed it!

The "FVE" said it was something I downloaded from the market and basically made me reset. It really is not a big deal to do a reset since all the contacts can get synced to your google account. I just don't want to have to keep doing this fix.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe SetCpu suddenly stop working with my Droid X 2.2 OTA. So I decided to troubleshooting by clearing the data, clearing the cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, un-rooting the device and re-rooting the device. I'm able to get other "Rooted Apps" to recognize permission ,but SetCpu wont even ask for permission during the installation process after picking "Auto Recommend". After "Auto Recommend" it just goes into the app and all I can see is a blank black screen. I'm able to launch the widget app once in a while but it seems like the program is working in the background. I have emailed the dev about this rare problem and sent him some logcat one being the installation process and the other one is adding the widget to the home-screen and then launching the app through the widget. I'll be including those attachment if someone with android code skills willing to help me solve this problem. Edit: I did a titanium backup of SetCpu when it was working fine 10/6/10. I did both the app +data restoration and on restart of the device it is able to ask for root permision and it shows the SetCpu bar notification icon. This tells me that the app is working in the background but when I launch it up all I'm able to see is a black screen.

I've had my Droid for a few days now, and I'm loving it, but it seems to really be having problems with my wifi at home. Whenever I use it on my wireless here at home, it basically seems to make the wifi stop working on both the droid and my laptop. Everything works fine for awhile, usually until the droid goes to sleep, and then I can't get to the internet on my laptop, or the droid. The signal is still fine, but it doesn't go anywhere.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWell the problems started 3 weeks ago when i noticed whenever i move around the headphones inside the jack, the music stops or one of the ear buds stop working. so i thought it was the headphones since skullcandies don't last long. i got a new pair and listened again but it STILL HAPPENED . (btw, the phone is not rooted)
The Phone still plays media fine without the headphones, so i thought no big deal. NEW PROBLEMS started to occur. The phone would NOT PLAY Media files whatsoever. (games, music, notifications, APPS ) every time it happens i have to restart the phone.

When I took it to look at it, I noticed that the phone was overheating. I popped the battery, let it cool down completely, and tried again. Same thing - unresponsive touch screen and it pretty much immediately overheated.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI must have the worst luck with phones. My Droid X was working flawlessly since I bought it last week and then suddenly won't get signal! I called VZW and was on the phone with them for over an hour. Tried everything and come to find out, my Droid Eris (previous phone) connects just fine. Some problem came up with the Droid X! Suffice it to say, they are sending a replacement in an week or two and I'm back to the Eris in the mean time. Anyone know how the heck this could've happened? I tried airplane mode on and off, turned the phone off and on, took out the battery while the phone was on, did a full system reset and went through all of the system stuff through VZW.
View 20 Replies View RelatedSuddenly this morning my DROIDX decided that my wallpaper (an image that i have saved on my phone) is in landscape only mode.
When I go to edit the wallpaper the little box that comes up (so that you can crop, etc) is now landscape and not portrait. This results in two huge black bars above and below my picture on my wallpaper.
I dont know how this happend or how to get it back.........
Yahoo. worked absolutely flawlessly up to about 3 days ago. Anyone else? check your e-mail on a computer and see if you have missed emails being sent to your phone. Have not done anything other than the update and it worked fine after that. i did clear my cache for the first time yesterday, but the problem started before that.

I'm on vodafone and when i try to refresh the news feed, i keep getting a "an error had occurred while fetching data (null)" message appearing. It's the original Facebook app on the phone, and i've never had any problems with it before, so am a little confused why it has suddenly stopped working. I haven't changed any settings or anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using a trusty U8120 for a while now with Fresh Zodiac Fruit Rom. I was browsing on it last night and then next day the screen was just inoperable. Sometimes it would "take" some input, but it would understand something different (e.g. on a keypad, touch it in the middle "5" and it understands top right "3", but then again, "3" doesn't register either).
Here's the funny thing: it doesn't take any input whatsoever, but, if the screen is about to idle shut down and I touch it, it goes back on full light, meaning it understands the touch.. what the..?
I tried reinstalling the firmware but nothing happened.
I suspect many of you are like me and monkey with your phones so damned much that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what changes we've made to which changes we've noticed. I've been running UD 9.0 ever since it came out. I've had great battery life with SetCPU profiles set from 250MHz to 1Ghz unless the battery goes below 30%, in which case it goes down to a max of 550MHz with a low still at 250MHz. The only thing I've changed recently is downloads of app updates, (...including SetCPU, btw). The other day my home WiFi crapped out, so I used a tether app and played around online with my laptop using my phone. I had never done it for so long before, but inside of about three hours, my battery was at 20%, when usually at that time of day, it's at hour 13 from last charge, and at about 40%. Now my battery is not lasting a whole 14 hours, where it used to go from 5 AM to 10 PM before it gave me the "15% juice left" heads up. I don't know if it's because of a bad SetCPU update, or a wifi tether app problem, or what.

Whereas I used to maybe only use 10% battery after the first 5-6 hours of my day, I find myself now down to 60% in that same timespan. The same apps I always run in the background are and everything has remained constant. What could be the issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedTipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?

I turned it back on and all is fine. Sheesh... glad it's easy, but anyone else see this rude behavior? I have a 90%+ charged battery so it's not a low power thing...

For the second time in a month, my EVO has decided to stop working with 3G. 4G works fine as does wifi, but 3G is dead. When this happened the last time, I spent an hour on the phone with Sprint doing all the usual things from resetting profiles to battery pulls to, eventually, factory resetting the phone (losing everything in the process).I'm not terribly excited about another factory reset, so anyone else have this problem and found another solution?
Anyone know how to stop the motorla phone tools from installing automatically when you connect the phone for the first time? Also how to avoid browser pop up of verizon media manager when you connect?

So first time what I did was make a factory reset and everything was back to normal,and that was beforo Froyo, now when I am running Froyo, I wonder when I make a factory reset does it turns me all the way back to the stock desire, without new software version and Froyo update? I have bought Desire on contract so I have everything official, no unbranded or rooted phone.
