Quick question, does the car dock stop all other apps from working when in car mode? Can I have the phone in the car dock and use the browser to watch flash movies?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just can't figure it out. I am running BBv0.9. I did a total data wipe, so I have been resetting my apps and settings. Last night when I plugged my Droid into my multimedia dock it of course gave me the option to choose "Clock" or "Mulitmedia" for display on the dock. Well, since I like the Mulitmedia look, I checked "Set as default" and chose Multimedia. Well apparently that option doesnt play nice with this ROM. All options (alarm, weather, music, etc) give me an instant FC message! My question is how do I "uncheck" that from being my default dock display? I have gone in to Manage Applications, Running Services...no options to change default setting.

Plus, I've searched AppBrain using many parameters to no avail.So, that little disclaimer out of the way....I have a DX. My last device was the original Droid. After the upgrade to Froyo on my original Droid, I noticed two really cool and, for me, useful dock functions that do not work with the Froyo upgrade on my DX. Original Droid (w/Froyo): When I would put the Droid in the car dock, there was a nice little icon that said EXIT. Meaning it would go out of car dock completely when you touched it. Even the icon in the top bar would go away. Also, when I hit the home button, say out of Navigation, it would take me to my regular home, vice back to the car dock home. I LOVED this, as I dislike and do not use the car dock mode ever. This icon is non-existent on the Froyo car dock mode on my DX. Next. Again, original Droid (w/Froyo. and I state this because with Eclair, these functions were not there): When plugged in for the night, I would touch my Retro Clock app widget, and (I don't know why, it just did) it would launch the Home Dock screen. (with weather, music icon, etc...) Now this I LOVED also, as I could set my alarm, check the weather where I was at, and even get some news headlines before going to sleep. Plus, it would then go into screen saver mode, dimming the screen nicely. I would like very much to get this kind of functionality back in both instances. Does anyone have any ideas for apps that would kill the car dock mode completely, either permanently, or at least every time I put it in the car dock?And is there some way to launch the home dock mode while in the car dock?I am a truck driver, and the car dock is where I put my X to charge at night.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI bought the car dock and it has served me well thus-far, but I don't really see a reason to plunk down the cash on the home dock. It's nice, but I don't want to buy it right now. However, I do very much like the display that appears when it is docked. I can't find a way to launch this without the dock itself, and I'm certain there has to be a way. What am I missing?
View 10 Replies View RelatedStarting today, when I dock my phone into my multimedia dock, it automatically goes into USB connect mode. I myself have not manually made this change nor install any software that knowingly does this. What I did install yesterday was WinAmp beta, YouTube from market (although everytime I look at my downloads, youtube still says its downloading) ADW Theme found yesterday on DroidLife (which was a waste).

I noticed recently that when I sit my Droid on top of my iHome (yes, I have an iPod), the dock home screen appears as if I had just placed it into my dock. For some reason or another, the iHome is forcing my Droid into dock mode. Any ideas as to why this happens? Also, can anyone reproduce this?

First problem is that when I hit the picture button I only get 1 picture?? I touch the screen and it does not even show arrows to scroll? I actually thought it would do a little slide show when you hit the picture button? When I hit the menu button all I get is the "share" option. Also my hard case I got from Verizon does not fit in the dock unless you take the back off. I have been reading posts that other people have the same problem Just gonna be a pain taking the back off every night! Then I gotta figure out the brightness issues it seems most are having. But I can't figure out what use the picture button is if it only shows 1 pic?
I just received my Droid Multimedia Dock from Verizon yesterday. I love it! Are there any apps out yet to customize the dock?

Is there a way to add apps to the extra spaces on the car dock on 2.2? I've tried long-pressing the open space but nothing happens and the menu doesn't allow this either. It seems a waste of space if we can't.
I seen an app that had a scrollable dock widget, that allowed you to put apps in it. I think you could put up to like 20 apps in it. does anyone know the one I am thinking of?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have had my Droid since lauch. The GPS which i use a ton geocaching and with the google maps has been flawless. Now all of a sudden the GPS has stopped being accurate. It always says im half mile to where i am, google maps/navigation doesnt work, and neither does any program i have that uses GPS. Always says the GPS Signal is not there. Any tips or has anyone have had this happen to you?

The "FVE" said it was something I downloaded from the market and basically made me reset. It really is not a big deal to do a reset since all the contacts can get synced to your google account. I just don't want to have to keep doing this fix.

It's weird, in the app I'm developing atm, there it displays only my start page with buttons, but when I tap on one button to fire an intent to another activity my app gets closed with an exception.
Yesterday before the update everything worked fine.

What is this "PC mode" that comes up as an option when you plug into a computer? Does it do something in windows? I run Ubuntu and it does nothing when I select it. The manual doesn't mention it, at least not the PDF I downloaded. It covers mass storage and windows media sync but not PC Mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just (within the past couple of days) noticed that my Battery Mode doesn't seem to be working. When I go into Battery Manager to select the Battery Mode, none of the selections highlight when I try to select them. I had been using Power Saver mode but it looks like all the buttons are grayed out. Anyone else notice this or have the same issue? I powered down and did a battery pull, but that didn't fix the problem. I don't want to do a reset because it's not that big of a deal to me but it would be nice to get it fixed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe SetCpu suddenly stop working with my Droid X 2.2 OTA. So I decided to troubleshooting by clearing the data, clearing the cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, un-rooting the device and re-rooting the device. I'm able to get other "Rooted Apps" to recognize permission ,but SetCpu wont even ask for permission during the installation process after picking "Auto Recommend". After "Auto Recommend" it just goes into the app and all I can see is a blank black screen. I'm able to launch the widget app once in a while but it seems like the program is working in the background. I have emailed the dev about this rare problem and sent him some logcat one being the installation process and the other one is adding the widget to the home-screen and then launching the app through the widget. I'll be including those attachment if someone with android code skills willing to help me solve this problem. Edit: I did a titanium backup of SetCpu when it was working fine 10/6/10. I did both the app +data restoration and on restart of the device it is able to ask for root permision and it shows the SetCpu bar notification icon. This tells me that the app is working in the background but when I launch it up all I'm able to see is a black screen.

I tried to manually update, but recovery mode doesn't seem like its working - I see the triangle/question mark but there is also a phone laying down right next to it. No combination of keys will get me to a menu to apply the update.zip. I tried flashing back to 2.01 and 2.0 and updating from there - but the recovery mode stayed the same. Does anyone know where to find the full Froyo stock .SBF files?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the droid eris and I have tried MULTIPLE apps for ringtones and they either stop working, do not set or just suck (all scratchy). I went to verizon today thinking maybe something was wrong with my phone and they suggested that I use Zedge. I downloaded it don't like it much (hard to find what your looking for)
Anyways.. Does anyone know wtf is going on? Am I doing something wrong? (Tried assigning the ringtone/notification with the app and through settings)
I have had my phone for a few months now and it works great but every now and again one of my apps stop working for example: the facebook app tells me an error has occured whilst fetching data. or the com.sonyericsson app that I don't know what it does tells me the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly and tells me to force close. I~s there anything I can do to solve these minor errors.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Bugless Beast v0.2.1. Beautiful Widgets keeps installing to the SD Card, when I reboot my phone the widget doesn't work. And has to be reinstalled. Pushing it back to the phone doesn't work either.
I know it loads correctly from the phone. Stupidly I tried pushing it to the SD Card and now realize why I was having problems with Beautiful Widgets a few days ago when I was flashing new ROMs.
How to stop all apps from downloading to SD period. I do not want a single app taking up space on my SD card.
I'm sure some folks already know this but for those that don't. You find out what apps are running in the background by going into settings, applications and running services. You can stop whatever apps you want.

I've had my Droid for a few days now, and I'm loving it, but it seems to really be having problems with my wifi at home. Whenever I use it on my wireless here at home, it basically seems to make the wifi stop working on both the droid and my laptop. Everything works fine for awhile, usually until the droid goes to sleep, and then I can't get to the internet on my laptop, or the droid. The signal is still fine, but it doesn't go anywhere.

When I remove my SD and reinsert it, all of the apps linked or moved stop working and I can't restore them with Titanium Backup
So I have to restore my ROM Backup and use Titanium Backup to restore them, which app I have to put in internal memory so that I don't get this problem ???
I dont want certain things coming up on boot like stock email and im stuff..besides useless apps such as startup auditor..can i do this in anyway in root..i dont care if there installed or installed i just dont want them coming up on boot.
