Just saw that the Droid 2 was released today on the Verizon website.Is anyone here going to upgrade? I think the lack of availability to root is a deal breaker for me.What are your thoughts?

So I returned my Eris today.The battery issues had been pretty much contained.I could get a full day out of a charge, but the lag was terrible.I had it all over the place despite running task killer, spare parts, clearing cache, etc.Then the phone started to get wacky. It would freeze with black screens when switching to home.Sometimes when going to home, I would get a black screen with an HTC logo displayed for about 20 seconds, then it would show Sense UI loading for about 10 seconds (dimmed picture, loading logo, no applications).Also, I would have periods where I could not switch between screens.The dialer was ridiculously laggy as well. I would press end, and the phone wouldn't end for about 5 seconds. Dialing the phone sometimes I would have a 1-2 second delay when pressing buttons.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some strange reason I can't seem to set-up my personal e-mail account on this Droid phone. I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.
What stores(besides verizon) are carrying screen protectors today?
I'm going to order the Steinheil protector but don't want to risk scratching in the mean time.
Migrated from multiple Blackberry phones. However, I cant seem to find a thread or app) where it shows my next 4-6 meetings/calendars. I would LOVE to have this app on my home screen. I have no problem paying for the app, I just need it.

I called Vz this evening and they said they have finished sending out OTA updates for 2.2 and if I want it installed I have to go into a store.

This seems like an obvious requirement for a calendar widget, but I can't get it actually show me today's events. For a few days leading up to an event, it'll inform me when it's coming, but when it's here, nada.
So is there any way to actually make the widget show the current day's events?
Matt over at Motorola has set up a thread you can subscribe to so that you can receive an email notification when 2.1 has begun its rollout. (I guess more realistically - as soon as it's started and Matt is able to get the thread updated - but I've got faith in 'ol Matt!) You do have to be a member there to subscribe.
For those of you not looking to sign up there - you can subscribe to THIS thread for instant email notification if you'd like. As soon as I get his email - I'll repost it here saying so. Yes, the notice will be a hair behind the very instant it is released, but with any luck not too behind. I will delete this thread after the update is complete. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the original droid with 2.1 (still haven't got update) the phone has some problems like, restarting, cant update certain apps, unresponsive. i just got the phone in may 2010 an im starting to think its getting out dated. I once had it rooted to 2.2 but went back to stock for OTA 2.2 . But my question is, that do u think i can call verizon and tell them my problems, say its my 3rd droid and im getting tired of it. Since there not making the oringinal droid anymore do u think they'll let me upgrade to Droid X with little or no fee? i got the idea from another post, reading that someone had success with this trick?

I do have a problem though: My house is in the same town as a non-verizon CDMA tower (US Cellular) and very far away from the nearest Verizon tower. With my other Verizon phones (older handsets), they just connect to the close tower and have full signal all the time without any issues. My Droid, on the other hand, will always try to stay connected to the distant Verizon tower - it can be very difficult and frustrating to make calls with the Droid because there is often no signal and the phone is unable to place a call. I don't need the 3G at home, as the Droid can use my wireless for browsing, etc. How can I get the Droid to stop trying to connect to the distant Verizon tower and connect to the nearby partner tower instead (so that I have high-quality phone signal at home)? I have called Verizon and Motorola and nothing seems to help.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThere's a few cases on the Verizon website for the incredible that weren't there yesterday when i pre-ordered. a clear snap on hard case, a high gloss silicone case in red or black a body glove case and a shell/holster case. the snap on one and shell one are the only ones "in stock." also have some privacy screen protectors.i think ill wait until i it comes out officially, hopefully there will be more options.

I am going to take it back for a replacement again, however I am wondering if Bestbuy got a bad batch and maybe I should get a replacement from the Verizon store. My family made the rushed decision to switch to Verizon in October and I ended up getting the Samsung Rogue. I currently have the family plan + a basic texting plan (200 or 300 messages a month, I forgot which one lol) + 25MB Basic Data. Would I be able to activate the Droid via the Verizon website or by phone without having to add anything extra. I know they will probably ask me to get the unlimited data, but I was wondering if there is anyway around this? I really like my rogue, but it doesn't compare to Droid. The rogue has no wifi , and its GPS is completely limited due to VZW Navigator, Not to mention the Android OS + Apps + 5MP Camera

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy work has free Wifi available for patients and whoever but you must first sign in on a main page it redirects to if your not already. Here to sign in you must accept a security certificate to be able to do this. It worked on my Droid the first day I did this and now I cannot get it to work, says it cannot redirect with no connection. Now this has happened before with my laptop and I just remove the certificate and it gets a new one and off I go. My question is where can I find these so I can delete it on the droid?
