I know that Lexus navigation systems will take a look at live traffic conditions and reroute you according to congestion and accidents. Since the Droid has the ability to do live traffic in the map layer...does anyone know if it takes this information into account when calculating the directions.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen using Google Maps, sometimes I can get Traffic info & sometimes I cannot get Traffic info. When its working, in Google Maps, I do: Menu; Map mode; Traffic. I can then see the Traffic info on the map. If I then do Menu; Map mode again, I can see the green check mark next to Traffic. When its not working, when I go back to Map Mode the 2nd time, the green check mark is still on Map. It is not on Traffic.

On my old Palm I could just hit # to toggle traffic on and off. But on the Droid I have to hit Menu, then layers, then traffic. The same to clear the map. Even opening the keyboard on the Droid2 and hitting alt # does not work.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am running a MT3G with Cyanogen's mod. I love it...the performance is good, the options are great. It's like having a Linux computer in my pocket (that's actually exactly what it is). The one consistent problem I am having is with the traffic layer in Google Maps. I can enable it and it shows the traffic information just fine. After a few seconds, however, I get a message that says, "low on memory, traffic has been turned off". If I leave GMaps and open another app that I used called TaskPanel, it tells me I have 30+ MB of available memory. I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas? I have Googled the issue and seen a number of other people having the same problem, but I haven't found a fix yet.

Last time I tried it and restarted I got stuck in a bootloop =P. I made a COMPLETE backup so going to give it a try shortly.
As I understand, I download metamorph from the market, move my themes into my sdcard metamorph folder, then basically run metamorph. I think BB.9 has busybox already taken care of.
I don't need to clear/wipe anything or whatnot for this to work correct, right?
So my gps location puts me close to 500 miles away from my actual location. Ive pulled battery, turned gps off n on, turned location settings off n on and I still cant get it to locate me correctly....any tips?

So now I only have my droid there in lies the problem what is the easiest way to get a house address inputted, the voice input never gets the correct address unless you are doing one liners. If I try to spell it out before I finish it times out, and I can't seem to consistently input it through the search bar on the home screen if I do it will only show a map of the place and does not offer the navigation to the place what am i doing wrong. It was so bad today i pulled out a paper map. View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a probably silly and stupid question. I did the sbf file to bring my phone back to stock (I have to give my phone to a family member, long story). Anyway, when I did the sbf file it recovered all my apps, and one of them was SetCPU.
SetCPU won't run unless it has root access correct? I mean the fact that it was installed (and then uninstalled) it can't change anything without root access to the device correct?
I don't understand this. When you hit the back button after following a link, you go back to the previous page, but not where you left off. The browser seems to just throw you somewhere near the top of the page. Is there a settings fix for this, or is it just how it works?

I am using droidlife's suggestion on how to root droid x 2.2 and when i copy the files to the correct folder and then hit doroot.bat all i get it "searching for device" the drivers are downloaded but when debugging is turned on it wants to download drivers for wb810.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been messing around with Tasker for the last several days, and it's raised a concern I've had with android itself. Is there a definitive answer to how audio is routed? I see that there are at least 6 audio stream types: call, system, ringer, media, alarm, notification. I also see (using Smart Volume or Quick Settings, etc.) that there are corresponding audio volume controls for each of the above.
My question is, which speaker do each of the audio streams get routed to? Obviously, there are different setups for when the headphones are plugged in and not. Here's what I see empirically so far: When the physical headphones are unplugged, the system, ringer, media, alarm and notification streams get routed to the external speaker. The call stream is routed to the earpiece.
When the headphones are plugged in, the alarm and notification streams seem to be routed to the external speaker (speakerphone, I guess). The call, system and media streams get routed to the headphones. The ringer stream has been behaving oddly. Sometimes it comes through the headphones, and sometimes through the ext. speaker.
Is it posible that Android would allow an app to block a phone call, email and or SMS from coming through to the device? e.g. User opens app and sets it to block all incoming info for 2 hours. App blocks all email, SMS and calls for 2 hours.

When I connect to WiFi (home WEP and open), it says I am connected - shows IP address etc., but nothing actually works through the WiFi - can't sync Exchange email, can't download from market, won't even update location on Google Maps. If I switch WiFi off everything works fine over mobile network, but that is unsustainable due to data charges.
