I have a Motorola Droid 2. Is there is way in Google Maps to quickly toggle traffic on and off? And a quick way to clear the map?
On my old Palm I could just hit # to toggle traffic on and off. But on the Droid I have to hit Menu, then layers, then traffic. The same to clear the map. Even opening the keyboard on the Droid2 and hitting alt # does not work.

When using Google Maps, sometimes I can get Traffic info & sometimes I cannot get Traffic info. When its working, in Google Maps, I do: Menu; Map mode; Traffic. I can then see the Traffic info on the map. If I then do Menu; Map mode again, I can see the green check mark next to Traffic. When its not working, when I go back to Map Mode the 2nd time, the green check mark is still on Map. It is not on Traffic.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a MT3G with Cyanogen's mod. I love it...the performance is good, the options are great. It's like having a Linux computer in my pocket (that's actually exactly what it is). The one consistent problem I am having is with the traffic layer in Google Maps. I can enable it and it shows the traffic information just fine. After a few seconds, however, I get a message that says, "low on memory, traffic has been turned off". If I leave GMaps and open another app that I used called TaskPanel, it tells me I have 30+ MB of available memory. I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas? I have Googled the issue and seen a number of other people having the same problem, but I haven't found a fix yet.

I know there is a way to clear the browser history via Browser.clearSearches(getContentResolver());
And the corresponding permission: com.android.browser.permission.WRITE_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
and this works fine (2.2.).
I couldn't find any way to clear the Maps-History though. Clearing the google/history online doesn't help either.
There are some apps in the market that promote to do that, so there must be an API for it, but i really couldn't find it yet.
I also messed around a bit with CLEAR_APP_CACHE and CLEAR_APP_USER_DATA but seems like they are signed/root-only permissions and delte too much anyways.
Does the Google Navigation program take traffic conditions into consideration when calculating the route?In other words, if I can get to my destination in 20 mins via Hwy A and 25 mins via Hwy B, but Hwy has an accident, will it route me to Hwy B instead?If so, how accurate/real time are the traffic conditions?I have Garmin on Windows Mobile now and find that it's saved me a few times by giving me a route that it wouldn't otherwise give me if the primary route wasn't backed up.

I use the Google Play Music App 4.4.811H.526848 and it works great. But now I tested the traffic the app uses when streaming music, because I wondered that I have higher traffic than expected. I have caching activated. When I put only one song in playlist and stream it, the app uses 14-40 mb traffic for a song with about 2-7 mb!
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed how disgustingly accurate/sweet the Google Maps Traffic Layer is?I put it on my dash and when it's green, the highway is at least 50 mph +..I noticed that the second my gps triangle entered the orange/yellow, it slowed down to about 25 mph..Immediately after leaving the yellow, it went back up to 50+..Everyday before I leave work, with a swype and a click, I know whether or not I should be getting on the highway or not. Right now it's red - I'll be taking the lake home today.Holy crud muffin I love this thing.

I like the stock HTC calendar widget & app on my Desire, and just having the full calendar widget (with a little coloured triangle on any day with something on) seen here. But I have several different Google calendars (work, partner's work schedule, non-work events, holidays/birthdays, etc) so if I leave them all shown I look too busy every day.
I'd like a calendar widget that lets me toggle the displayed calendars on and off with, say, 2 taps instead of going all through the tree (menu, more, calendars, tickybox, back, back).
Failing that, I'd like another calendar widget that displays in the same month-grid style and can hold the setting to display only my work calendar (while leaving the other widget on the other home screen displaying all google calendars).
I've looked a bit but only see things that don't sync with Google, or only display a week-view, etc. Any ideas?

There's an easy way to do that! From a home screen: Add -> Shortcuts -> Toggle Google Voice
Now you have a "switch" on your home screen that lets you switch between calling from your regular number and your GV number with one press.
Is Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.

I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
