This bug just spontaneously arose. Every time I select a new wallpaper it loops back to the gallery. The problem does not occur when I pick one of the Droid pre-loaded wallpapers. Not sure if this is a coincidence, but I just installed sweeter home beta 2.
Update. I removed the 2.1 gallyey app and it fixed the problem

I'm trying to set the selection of a Gallery in code. I would like to have the Gallery smoothly roll down a few items over the duration of a second or two. At frist glance, it appears that two members would to the trick:Gallery.setAnimationDuration(int animationDurationMillis); Gallery.setSelection(int position, boolean animate); It turns out that the setAnimationDuration only seems to affect the rubber-bandy "return-to-center" effect of the Gallery. In other words, when a gallery comes to rest after a fling, and a gallery item is off center, the animationDurationMillis is used to control the duration of the Gallery centering up the item. However, the value seems to have no effect on the setSelection. No matter what value is set with setAnimationDuration, the Gallery seems to render about 2 or 3 frames when flying between items 1 and 10 for example. Is this working as designed? Does anyone know a trick or workaround that would let me properly animate setSelection? I'd be especially grateful if we could do it with an "Ease Out" effect.

I'm currently running BB v.08 OCed to 1100 mhz and i'm using the neutral network LWP that was made specifically for the droid. Whenever I use my facebook widget or handcent quick reply, as i'm typing with the virual portrait mode keyboard once I reach a certain amount of characters my screen flashes and one of the default wallpapers that comes with the droid replaces my LWP. Why is it doing this? Once i finish the message I can go back and change the wallpaper, but it's really annoying how it changes by itself

However if I try to change the lock screen wallpaper, it doesn't give me the choice of "wallpaper gallery":menu -> wallpaper -> lock screen..just takes me directly to my photo albums.How can I choose lock screen wallpaper from the existing wallpaper gallery?

What I am looking for is a photo/picture gallery app that simply let's you select the folders that you want to display in the app. I was fine with the stock gallery for awhile, but then I started getting a variety of apps that store pictures in various folders (the worst one being Touchdown for Exchange which puts almost every attachment in a new folder). The stock gallery now takes forever to load up, as it is loading a TON of folders with images in them. Really it makes it almost useless at this point. This was the main reason I switched to MixZing for audio, as it let me narrow my library down to the few folders that actually mattered.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to realize how the focus and selection in the Gallery widget is doing their job. I'm facing weird situations when trying to update information (TextViews and Spinner) upon a selected item in the Gallery. The focus and selection is lost. So, using the resource gallery_item_background will end in showing the "unselected" background for the current selected image. I have used the .xml that came with the android sdk, and I can't realize how this is happening. I have set setFocusable(false) and setFocusableInTouchMode(false) to all other Views to try out (and true for the Gallery) without any luck.
I have also add 'in-situ' debug, that is, a menu that updates differents widgets when onItemSelected() is called. So I can see while using the application how the background resource is applied. When set to 'no update' the obvious thing happens. None of the widgets are updated with new values, and the background resource works as expected. When set to 'manual update' (an update in the listener that do: .setText() on the textview) does work depending the current View that is showing the TextViews (I have a ViewFlipper that display 2 differents Layout of the TextViews)...............
I changed my build.prop file after updating to 2.2 for the market fix. I wouldn't have to change it back prior to flashing SPF right?

But I noticed that if I change a contact on the Droid the changes are NOT synced back to Gmail.
At the moment if I look on the Droid for Contacts/Accounts/ me@gmail.com, I see Sync is ON, Calendar is synced up to present time, Mail is synced up to present, but Contacts are synced until 2. December only!
The sync symbol appears at Contacts, but the date and time isn't changing, it stays at 2. December.
I have a question on how to change icons back to the theme version after an app update. So after an app updates it changes back to the stock icon. Can I just reapply the theme and get the icons back to the themed version or do I have to wait until the dev updates the theme?

This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
I mistakenly selected one of two email accounts on my X -- as being the "Default"
This was a mistake, as I really should have kept the setting dynamic -- so I could chose to send from either account.
Now I can't undo that default setting -- nor can I even switch the default to the other email account.
Here's how I got to the menu in question:
GUI Messaging Icon > Left Menu Button > Messaging Settings > Email > Default Email Account
Anyone know how I can undo this default setting -- and put myself back in the position of being able to select which account to use dynamically?
When I try to set a wallpaper from my own gallery, it only allows me to select a specific part of the picture. For example on the iphone I could resize the selection to fit the screen as much as I wanted. But the captivate sets a box and i cant make it bigger or smaller to select the entire wallpaper. and also doesn't matter how high res the picture is, it always looks blurry. Unlike the stock wallpapers, they look super sharp and clear. Anyone know what im doing wrong or how to fix it so i can choose to display an entire picture as my wallpaper rather than just a small portion?

Now on the new phone when I try to change my homescreen wallpaper, it always wants to zoom in on the image. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it will let me use the full width, but not the full length while looking at the phone with the buttons on the bottom. So I have an image that is 320x480, and it wants to crop it down to 200x200 for example. It zooms in and makes it a square, instead of a rectangle like the screen is. I just want the wallpaper to be what it looks like when the image first opens from the photo album app. But as soon as I try to make it a wallpaper it wants to zoom in and make the photo look dumb.

Just a quick question about making pictures from the gallery your wallpaper? Is there any way to get it to use the whole picture. as it stands, whenever I try to use a picture for my wallpaper, it makes me crop the picture, and no matter what I do, the crop box never lets me use the whole picture, its like there's a size limit or something.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy mobile is xolo q800, see my attachments in 100 % zoom .1st image shows a comparison between the original pic (left side) and the same pic as my phone wallpaper (right side) with no cropping and scrollable taken by default screenshot (hold vol- and power button simultaneously). i have marked the problem areas with black circles for u to compare notice the scar below the eyes appears smudged in my phone...the same pic looks good without smudging when viewed with astro file manager or quickpic....but even when i set the same pic from quickpic(no smudging in quickpic app) as the wallpaper....the wallpaper looks smudged again.
