Motorola Droid X :: Google Voice Setup / Reading Settings
Jul 16, 2010Anyone else having problems setting up Google Voice? It just stays at the screen that says "Reading Settings". It's been this way for at least 15 minutes.

May 2, 2010I had this same problem on my eris with the v2 leak, I now have the v3 leak and the same thing still happens. I install voice, fire it up and start the setup, I get to the page where it asks me to allow or deny access, I click allow, and it force closes. Does this every time. Same thing happens if I select deny. If I try to exit, sense force closes and has to restart.

Jan 23, 2010I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

Jan 28, 2014I want to setup a second phone number using Google Voice. Some time ago I created a new number online and set it up on my previous cell. Now 2 years later I got a new cell and want to setup Google Voice, however the application behaves differently now and tries to integrate with my real phone number, and that is not my intention. During the install it verified my real phone number and tried to use it.
My question: how to set it up to use a number I created online long time ago? I clicked every option but could not find a way to repoint Voice to my second number.

Oct 19, 2010I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.

Aug 19, 2010Having serious issues setting up Google Apps corporate email on my DX. POP and SMTP settings, email add, password all checked and rechecked for accuracy. Still no dice. Am being told by Google Apps support that I need to hard reset the device, setup corporate Google Apps email first, and then reinstall and re-setup everything else. This seems like a hail mary approach to me, and one that I'm still not sure is going to work.

Sep 17, 2010Can anyone tell me how to setup a google apps (no gmail) account on a Droid X? I set it up on my Fascinate easily. I need to set SSL for outgoing, and TLS for outgoing. The Droid X only gives me the option of "use secure connection". The thing is, I got it to work as a regular email account last night, but then it stopped working. We have one ATT account through yahoo, and the google apps account from our private website. I tried setting it up as a gmail account since the settings are the same, but get the error "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server."

From my understanding google voice does not support that. I did read about an application called iTim for the iphone which allows you to use MMS through google voice. Is there any such product for the Android? Having SMS/texting through google voice would save $30/month on my cell phone bill, so it's kind of a big deal.

Went through the verification process and dialed the * number from my phone and everything went well. Got my welcome messages and all. Jun 11, 2010I just changed my google voice number to a google number today from the random number I had before. But now I can't call it from any 216 area code. This creates a problem because my phone is a 216 area code. So I can't call my own voicemail - It just says the number cannot be completed as dialed. When I call from a different area code it's fine. No contact groups or anything are blocked and I can call out. I'm stock and haven't rooted or anything.

Sep 16, 2010I don't know if its coincidence but i just bought the motorola extended battery and my phone seems to be lagging alot with google voice and just seems a little unstable overall. Been loving my x but has been letting me down since the new battery, though i love the battery life with it. Guess i need to try the old battery again and see if it improves.

Yet, I have heard that SMS messages sent through GV aren't as speedy or reliable as those sent through your carrier. I've read that it often takes up to 5 minutes to receive a text message after one is sent to you. If I'm in the middle of a "texting conversation" I don't want to have to wait 5 minutes to receive a reply to one of my texts.. Is this true? Or does Google Voice SMS work like a charm and I should just drop my $20 a month text plan?
