Motorola Droid :: Adjust Frequency Of Vibrations?
Nov 8, 2009
I love the Droid so far but have a couple issues with vibrate. When I recieve a notification I have it set to vibrate but it only vibrates with a couple quick pulses. This may not be enough vibration for me to notice at times while its in my pocket. Is there away to adjust the frequency of vibrations?

Is it possible to adjust the update frequency for the stock weather app on the X? Or does anyone know how often it updates? I think it is getting it's data from AccuWeather.com.

so, today all my vibrations stopped working. no haptic feedback. i checked all my settings, no problem there. phone not on silent. tried a restart, no good. so then, i shook the crap out of my phone and holy crap, that worked. all my vibrations are working again. does that mean there's a problem with the vibrator hardware?

Is there a way to tell which frequency band(s) a droid is currently using? I want to buy one of the z boost repeaters and it would be nice to be able to save and get a single band model, but how can I tell? I would assume my droid could tell me what it's currently using..

I just got a Droid 2 and I think the phone is amazing... except for one thing. I am amazed that the volume rocker doesn't function logically like any other volume rocker. I have heard brief mention of this being a common problem, but I can't seem to find any other threads on the issue. Here's what I want my volume rocker to do: (just like any other phone,) I want it to adjust volume level, then go to Vibrate (everything!) and then go to Silence (everything!) Right now, when it goes to silent, some things still vibrate, and when it's on vibrate, some things still ring--and it is driving me crazy! On a related note, it would also be awesome if I could set it up to silence all notifications beside phone calls, text messages, and the alarm, when I want it to, like when I'm sleeping. If somebody could humor me and tell me exactly what I need to do to get my D2 to function in these respects like a regular phone, but while not impeding its other awesome functions, that would be great.

I can't seem to adjust the volume during calls. If I take the phone off my cheek or when on speakerphone I wake it up, then I can adjust. It just seems at first it won't go up or down.

Just got the 2.1 OTA upgrade on my Eris. The mail client is stuck on "manual" for my Exchange account. I deleted the account and re-added it, but it still won't let me change it. I can select "as items arrive" or any of the other schedules, but as soon as I leave that screen and go back to it I find that it's set back to manual. Any ideas?

I try to change the frequency of a single soundfile. I managed to do that in android with the SoundPool thing. But the result sounds really bad.
So I stepped about the Fourier Transformation - but I am not sure if this is what I am looking for.
I want to load a single file and change the frequency of that file every time that file is played. So I can create melodies out of one tone. Is that possible with android/java?

I'm a newbie developer in Android.
I want to make an app like SetCPU that can manipulate cpu frequency in Android.
But I couldn't find some related APIs or materials.
I want to know following two things sincerely.
1) Are there APIs to change cpu frequency in Android?
2) If not, are there some APIs in linux?

Has anyone found a way to fix the weak vibrations on the Incredible? I can barely feel my phone go off in my pocket, let alone hear/feel it while it's sitting half a foot away from me on a desk. I don't really miss my Black Berry too much, but this is one big thing that I do miss.

At work I have my phone in my pocket, on vibrate, quite a bit and a lot of times I don't feel the initial vibration. So I end up missing the message until I physically take the phone out and look to see if I have any messages. My Dare that I just upgraded from sent out a vibration every couple of minutes until I checked the phone and dismissed the notifications. Would love to find out if this is possible with the DI.

Does anyone know of a way to make the phone, when set to vibrate, vibrate longer and stronger than the 2 short weak vibrates that it does now? I miss more calls because of this than any other reason. A co-worker has the Moto Droid and that thing will vibrate so hard the phone will move across the desk. Thats what I am used to coming from BlackBerries. I would like to accomplish this without using a 3rd party app if possible.

I did a search and didn't find this specific problem mentioned so here it goes.
The Eris in question (isn't mine but I'm trying to help the owner out), has of course, horrible battery issues. So, first thing I wanted to do was see if there was a built-in power-manager app like on the Motorola Droid. There wasn't so I downloaded one of the many brightness toggle widgets.
The first widget, when clicked brought up a small menu to select brightness. While that menu was up the brightness would change as it should have but would immediately change back to what it was when that menu closed.
After that I looked in options, disabled auto-brightness, and installed a new widget. This one is a simple press to change brightness in increments. When I push the button the brightness changes momentarily and then resets to whatever the slider in the Settings is at. I've tried moving that slider and that setting is what it always defaults to.
Right now the only way to adjust the brightness is in the settings menu and nothing else will work even though auto-brightness is turned off. Is there any way around this? I'd really like to be able to get it so it can be easily adjusted without having to go through so many steps.
EDIT: Playing around with it further, I tapped the widget to go to 100% brightness and of course the screen dimmed back down to 0%. I then went to the settings menu and as soon as I entered the "Sound and Display" menu, the brightness jumped up to what I had set it at with the widget. After that I can hit the Home key or otherwise leave the menu and the brightness will be properly set... until the screen times out. If the screen times out and I wake it up, it's back to 0% brightness.

Is there a way to adjust the spacing between characters in an Android TextView? I believe this is typically called "kerning".
I'm aware of the android:textScaleX attribute, but that compresses the characters along with the spacing.
