Motorola Droid 2 :: Need To Adjust Volume Level?
Nov 19, 2010
I just got a Droid 2 and I think the phone is amazing... except for one thing. I am amazed that the volume rocker doesn't function logically like any other volume rocker. I have heard brief mention of this being a common problem, but I can't seem to find any other threads on the issue. Here's what I want my volume rocker to do: (just like any other phone,) I want it to adjust volume level, then go to Vibrate (everything!) and then go to Silence (everything!) Right now, when it goes to silent, some things still vibrate, and when it's on vibrate, some things still ring--and it is driving me crazy! On a related note, it would also be awesome if I could set it up to silence all notifications beside phone calls, text messages, and the alarm, when I want it to, like when I'm sleeping. If somebody could humor me and tell me exactly what I need to do to get my D2 to function in these respects like a regular phone, but while not impeding its other awesome functions, that would be great.

I can't seem to adjust the volume during calls. If I take the phone off my cheek or when on speakerphone I wake it up, then I can adjust. It just seems at first it won't go up or down.

I noticed that when turning down the volume of the ringer with the volume rocker it doesn't automatically turn down the notification volume as well. Is there a way to set the volume rocker to adjust both notification and ringer volume to the same level? You can test this by going under Settings/Sound and Display/Ringer Volume...and try adjusting the volume with the rocker and it only adjust the Ringer Volume.

I'm writing an Android application that plays back voice mails using Media Player, which are just WAV files that have been sent to the device. When I play the file, it's played on the device's speaker, or else it plays through headphones if they're plugged in. What I want to do is play the file so that it sounds to the user as if it's at the same volume level as a normal phone call. Is there a way to route playback so that the file is played through the phone's ear piece instead of out of the speaker?

Is there anyway to adjust the audio level out of the Captivate? When I hooked it up to my car stereo to play Pandora, I had to max out the volume on the car stereo just to be able to hear it. I don't listen to music at outrageous levels. If I listen to a CD or the radio, the volume level is between 10 and 25. With the Captivate it is 40 and still not as loud as the radio.

Ive just gotten a Droid Razr and I can't figure out how to adjust the call volume, e.g., the volume of the voice I'm hearing on a call and the volume of my voice when I speak.

As much as I knew, There are 4 volume types in Android Phone. They are "Ringer Volume", "Media Volume", "Alarm Volume", and "Volume". But the volumes which are adjustable in Settings are only "Ringer Volume" and Alarm Volume" in Settings - Audio Profiles. I can't find where to adjust "Media Volume" and "Volume".

I have an I Tech Clip M bluetooth head set. It appears to pair correctly, but I don't enter the 0000 code.
However, no sound seems to come from the music player. I mean it comes from the G1's speakers, but nothing though the headphones.
Tried adjusting volume on headset, nada
Is there a setting I need to set?

I have only had my Hero for a couple of weeks and am generally happy with it, but this issue is really, really bothering me. I dont know if it is an android OS issue (there are no settings I can find to overcome this problem, and My old HTC Touch HD also made by HTC did not have this problem). When listening to music via the headphones, the phone MUST automatically reduce the volume of the incoming call and notification ring sounds. It is dangerous for healthy hearing! Seriously, my phone is almost always set to full volume throughout the day, but when I plug my headphones in, and am listening to music, when the phone rings the ringing is UNBELIEVABLY loud and has frightened me out of my wits a number of times. My Touch HD used to automatically reduce the ringing and notification sounds when headphones were plugged in. Perhaps Android OS is not capable of this? I am curious to know, and would buy an app which could overcome this problem.

Got a Desire partly because once the 32GB comes out (on pre-order) I'll be using it as an mp3 player as well as a phone. Managed to find a good program to sync my music with it (MediaMonkey) and now the only other hurdle to this seems to be the volume levels which are too low for my liking. Will simply getting headphones with a volume control push the volume up further? I'm planning on buying some headphones for it that'll include a mic, volume control and maybe a couple of buttons to control the music, but is there anything that has all these? I'm not keen on bluetooth devices in the slightest, so just want some super-duper in-ear headphones really.

Just wanted to make sure if this is a common issue or something wrong with my handset (so that I can try getting it replaced).
When I hear calls using phone's default speaker, the sound comes okay till one volume level. If I move up, the sound distorts.
If I use speaker-phone, things are worse. After a certain level, sound crackles a lot.
For music via phone's loud speaker, the sound doesn't crackle. But as identified by many, I can hear music with no bass & lots of treble.
Is this normal for Desire?
Comparing it with my wife's N95 (which has stereo speakers) was a nightmare for me.

I do have the option on that decreases the volume once I move it, but even before I move it, it's sometimes very hard to hear unless if there is no other noise. Could it be the actual ringtones? I used ringdroid to edit down songs and make a ringtone on the aria.

I'm having a small issue with my current phone and headphones. The problem is that headphones and phone have no problem with higher output volume. Temporary solution - speaker boost, trouble is: it causes any equalizer to FC.
How can I increase the volume at kernel level? If that's not possible then rom level would be enough. No apps, just pure source changes.

Is there a way to make the ringtone volume and notification volume the same? When I turn the ringer volume down using the side buttons on my phone it only turns the ringer down, nothing else. I'm coming from the Evo where you can click "use same volume for both" or something to that effect. Is this a 2.2 thing?

I listen to Pandora on the Eris and podcasts on the media player. At full volume with earphones, the volume is still quite low, much lower than what my blackberry puts out, and not very good. Any way to up the volume besides the side volume rocker?

why does the ringtone volume go from too quiet on level 6 to loud to room-filling boombox level on level 7?
there should be one step in between 6 is way to low and 7 is way to high.
using JM2 maybe it's fixed on a later firmware?
is there any other way to add a more sensitive adjustment?

I noticed that you can't adjust media volume without first playing media. Like you have to, for example, press the play button before pressing rocker volume in order to adjust media volume or else you'll just be adjusting ringer volume. This is unfortunate since games also use media volume. So if you wonna start up a quick game in a quiet setting, your in trouble if you were listening music before and never turned down/off the media volume. Unless I'm missing something and there is in fact a way to do it?

I'm having trouble developing an app, while it works in API level 10, it does not in API level 7. I wondery why and I've been looking for a site that summarizes the differences, or the new features from one API level to another and cannot find it.
09-04 04:24:21.485: E/AndroidRuntime(6834): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception
09-04 04:24:21.510: E/AndroidRuntime(6834): java.lang.VerifyError: [code]....
There seems to be a problem with an uncaught exception and reflection, although....why does it work on API level 10?
