Media : Different Types Of Notification Alerts / App To Setup On Phone?

I want to have a different alert tone or ringtone for different types of notifications: a different one for texts, for emails, and for voicemails. I have been able to do this with just about every other type of phone I've had in the past; I can't understand why these more expensive, more technologically advanced phones dump them all into one category ("Set as notification tone"). Am I missing something here? Is there an app I need or a setting on the phone I'm not seeing?
Just to be clear, I care less about whether I can use customized ringtones for these alerts than just being able to distinguish between when I'm getting a text or an email. And if it helps to know, I have a Samsung Moment and my husband has a HTC Hero, and we are both having this problem.

When the phone is "sleeping" and a message comes through, I hear the notification. I don't see the flashing light (even though I have that turned on for everything) and the screen does not come on.
Is there a setting that I am missing?

I noticed that when I get a text on my droid x I only get 1 alert ring.Can I set that to 2 rings?If yes, where do i go?Ive looked around and cant seem to find it.
I just upgraded from a BB curve to a Droid x so I have a little smart phone knowledge lol

I want different notifications for different events, e.g. for SMS I want one sound and vibrate function, for YMail and GMail I want a different sound and no vibrate. I tried Rings Extended, but that just takes the existing settings a step further by allowing music or sounds to be added. It doesn't distinguish between different events.

I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.

How do I set the calendar alerts to vibrate? I don't want it to ring or make sounds, I want it to vibrate. Also the same for gmail. How do I make it vibrate when I receive an email?

Is there an app out there that allows me to attach different notification sounds for different types of notifcation. For example, I want it to play a different sound for email than it does for SMS.
I've had a look at Tasker in the sticky but it looks to complicated.
I'm running unrooted 4.2.2.

I have set up the folders necessary on my SD card so that I can access the notification alert sounds that I would like to use. The problem I am having now is that I want to set one alert sound for contact a, a different alert sound for contact b, etc... I was able to set my ringtones this way but can't figure out how to set the notification alerts.

So, I was just curious, is there a way to set custom text message alerts on the the Droid, or can you only use the default ones that came with it? I figured out how to do custom ringtones, but cant figure out custom text message alerts.

I installed the Advanced Task Killer because there wasn't a logout function for the Yahoo Mail App and the alerts were going like crazy; however, I needed the alerts for my work email due to oncall. However, now I'm not getting any sound alerts or vibrate, etc for my new email messages and this is very important.
Does anyone know how I can enable the alerts and get them working again. I have uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and powered off the phone, but the email alert notifications unfortunately are still not working.

as an end user, can I surpress sms alerts in the notification bar on android 2.1 (alert - but not show the first line of text)? Is there a phone setting? Or an app out there that allows this choice?

I want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

I'm just wondering what types of accessories Droid users have bought. I have the Multimedia docking and the car dock both from Motorola. I bought them on the VZW website and got both for around $22 bucks each. I've been happy with both even though I haven't been driving much. Has anyone seen a car dock that doesn't block the camera? Mine does. I wanted to launch Qik or Ustream Broadcaster while I drive around. Just thought it would make for some cool video.

sd card 1.83 free
and internal phone storage 1.68free

When changing the custom locale the label of the phone types change to the appropriate language. Does anybody know how to get the localized label of the phone types?
I pick a contact in my app to get its phone number and if there is more then one number I use an AlertDialog to let the user select the currect one. In this pick list, I want to show the label of the type, so it's easier for the user to select. Since they labels are somewhere in the Android system, it must be possible to get the localized label. Unfortunately, the Phone.LABEL is null when reading the phone number.

I get repeated notifications and don't know where they are coming from. Is there a way to set up missed calls, messaging, Weather Channel, calendar, e-mail, etc so they all have different notification sounds? It is frustrating to go through each of these to find out which is causing the notification.

I know that the possible data type for an application is specified in its manifest file and I suppose that this information is available, but I have some difficulty finding out what the data content type for application is?

I have an issue with using contacts on my droid. From within 'contacts' i hit the 'display options' then selecting the email account I see the drop down for system contact groups-friends, family, coworkers. I am wondering if there is any way to create additional contact types or groups? As in I have a specific group of contacts from one website I want to add to a group--can you create a contact type or contact group?? I can't find the option when adding a new contact or when within the display options as mentioned before.

This may be a stupid question, but how do I open a CSV (comma-separated values) file as a spreadsheet on my Evo? Quick Office can open an Excel file (.xls) but not CSV. ES File Explorer can open the file as text but not a spreadsheet.
Also, is there a way to associate particular file types with specific applications?

There is a description about a product or event that people would like to share among them. This can be a simple text or rich text too.
They are looking into which format is the best for this purpose. They would like to see compatible with as many phones as possible. We are talking about phones that have Bluetooth.
Also the text is longer than the length of an SMS, so the SMS format is not suitable
What would you recommend?
And what do you think what would be the best way to share that between phones?

I have searched my HTC Incredible up and down but I can't find the option to set how often it rings to let you know that you have a missed call or text. Right now me phone only rings once. This is the most basic feature and there has to be a way to change but I can't find it for the life of me. Even my old razor let me set it to ring every 5 minutes or so for missed calls. I can hook my phone into my pc and stream internet off it but for the life of me I can't figure this out!
