i'm trying to download a torrent file i was able to do this with my droid but am unable to with the incredible is there some type of setting to allow the phone to download all types of files?

I can't seem to download any files from my gmail on my phone. i can only "preview." can't seem to find a way to save an attachment.
i don't have problems downloading from my yahoo account.
I've set set files to localhost an set the href links for the epub files.

And I've try to browse from my custom web view but when I click to download the link, it appears no download and open the file in the browser with custom web view.

What I want to do is to download the files and want to set path the download location to user selected location.
PDF, docx, xls, ppt. Is there an application on the market that allows me to view all these types of files? I have seen a few, but they all get crappy reviews. Anyone have one that works for them? Also, is it free or paid?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried downloading/transferring several files to my incredible over 3g. Tried downloading a couple times through the stock browser and also i've tried downloading through dropbox but every time the download gets randomly interrupted sometime between when 20mb - 100mb is done. I am not getting any calls or texts or anything that would interrupt it - it seems like the phone is going to sleep in the middle of the download or something. The files I am trying to transfer are approx 200mb .MP4 files and .MP3 files. Anyone know how to fix this problem and/or know of an app that will let you download or transfer large files from my home computer or from HTTP through my web host? On my BB Storm I had to use opera browser to download large files so maybe a different browser would work?

Second question...I figured smartphones are smart. Can I download mp3 files from the internet to the phone itself? In more detail, I use zamzar for my music. I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.

I just moved from a Blackberry and I was able to do it on those phones I see you can have different ring tones per contact. However I sleep during the day (work nights) and i put my phone on silent but on my blackberry i could have a profile set for only my girlfriend and my phone would ring no matter if i had it on silent or not.
Is this possible on a droid?
Id really hate to have my phone going off all day long just so i would be able to hear my girlfriend call.
Coming from a blackberry, I REALLY like the "phone calls only" setting. It meant that I didn't have to hear alerts all night for emails and text, but if someone called me I would know. is there a similar setting, or at least an app, that provides this function? I think it's a good idea for those of us who don't have a land line, and dont want to hear alerts all night but forget to take off silent in the morning.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.
I'm just wondering what types of accessories Droid users have bought. I have the Multimedia docking and the car dock both from Motorola. I bought them on the VZW website and got both for around $22 bucks each. I've been happy with both even though I haven't been driving much. Has anyone seen a car dock that doesn't block the camera? Mine does. I wanted to launch Qik or Ustream Broadcaster while I drive around. Just thought it would make for some cool video.

When changing the custom locale the label of the phone types change to the appropriate language. Does anybody know how to get the localized label of the phone types?
I pick a contact in my app to get its phone number and if there is more then one number I use an AlertDialog to let the user select the currect one. In this pick list, I want to show the label of the type, so it's easier for the user to select. Since they labels are somewhere in the Android system, it must be possible to get the localized label. Unfortunately, the Phone.LABEL is null when reading the phone number.
When the phone is "sleeping" and a message comes through, I hear the notification. I don't see the flashing light (even though I have that turned on for everything) and the screen does not come on.
Is there a setting that I am missing?
In the scenario that I made up a user chooses an application and and I offer him/her the available pieces of data to operate on. I know that the possible data type for an application is specified in its manifest file and I suppose that this information is available, but I have some difficulty finding out what the data content type for application is?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to have a different alert tone or ringtone for different types of notifications: a different one for texts, for emails, and for voicemails. I have been able to do this with just about every other type of phone I've had in the past; I can't understand why these more expensive, more technologically advanced phones dump them all into one category ("Set as notification tone"). Am I missing something here? Is there an app I need or a setting on the phone I'm not seeing?
Just to be clear, I care less about whether I can use customized ringtones for these alerts than just being able to distinguish between when I'm getting a text or an email. And if it helps to know, I have a Samsung Moment and my husband has a HTC Hero, and we are both having this problem.
I have an issue with using contacts on my droid. From within 'contacts' i hit the 'display options' then selecting the email account I see the drop down for system contact groups-friends, family, coworkers. I am wondering if there is any way to create additional contact types or groups? As in I have a specific group of contacts from one website I want to add to a group--can you create a contact type or contact group?? I can't find the option when adding a new contact or when within the display options as mentioned before.

Also the text is longer than the length of an SMS, so the SMS format is not suitable
