When the phone is "sleeping" and a message comes through, I hear the notification. I don't see the flashing light (even though I have that turned on for everything) and the screen does not come on.
Is there a setting that I am missing?

I know that the LED is supposed to flash green when you have a notification, text, missed call, whatever. My question is does anyone's LED actually flash is the phone is sleeping? I figured that even though the screen was off the light would flash so you could tell something was there without having to turn the screen on, but I haven't noticed it. As soon as I turn the screen on, that is when it seems that the light will flash.

I have a ton of meetings, and I rely upon the phone's 10-minute reminder to play an alert sound before each meeting. This is very handy. What I don't like is that there is no way to set the frequency (i.e., the repeat) for the audible calendar event reminders. It seems like they will just keep going off forever every 5 or 10 minutes, even after the meeting has started, until I hunt my phone down, turn it on, slide the screen lock down, slide the notification area down, select the reminder, and select "Dismiss". And then when my next meeting comes up again, same issue. It was driving me crazy, to the point that I simply turned off the reminder notifications entirely. Is there any way I can tell this phone, "When there is a meeting in ten minutes, please play exactly 3 audible reminder alerts: 10 minutes before, 5 minutes before, and when the meeting time has started.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI figured out how to add custom ringtones for alerts and calls but I cant for the life of me figure out how to set one for text, a different one for gmail, a different one exchange and so on. any ideas? Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to have a different alert tone or ringtone for different types of notifications: a different one for texts, for emails, and for voicemails. I have been able to do this with just about every other type of phone I've had in the past; I can't understand why these more expensive, more technologically advanced phones dump them all into one category ("Set as notification tone"). Am I missing something here? Is there an app I need or a setting on the phone I'm not seeing?
Just to be clear, I care less about whether I can use customized ringtones for these alerts than just being able to distinguish between when I'm getting a text or an email. And if it helps to know, I have a Samsung Moment and my husband has a HTC Hero, and we are both having this problem.
I made the upgrade to Google Voice today. But, after uninstalling Verizon's Visual Voicemail I am still getting text messages from Verizon that I have visual voicemail activity. Do I have to call them to cancel the service?

You set the time at which you go to sleep and it has several options such as disabling gps, wifi, bluetooth and putting your ringer and notification volume at whatever you want.You set the wakeup time as well so the phone turns things back on for you in the morning.

Is there something I need to do phone wise in the settings to tell it to listen to that sound board?
When I stay in a hotel I like to set my phone to turn off all notifications except the ringer for incoming calls. Is there a quick, easy way to do this? My blackberry Storm had this as an easy to access option.

1. Is the Visual Voicemail that's in the phone the correct one, or do I need to download the app? It seems when I get a Visual Voicemail, it is showing up in with my text messages. Is that how it's supposed to work or is there supposed to be a separate app?
2. Is it just me, or do people who leave messages sound mechanical? The few voicemails that I've received so far sound terrible. They sound like their voices are synthesized or something. When I talk on the phone, people sound totally normal.
3. Do I even need to pay the $2.99 per month that I am paying Verizon for this service? Or is there a free app available that does the same thing?
I would like the phone to alert me approx every 5 minutes that there is an unread text. My phone alerts that I have a new text but I also want it to alert me again if I don't hear the first alert. Is there a way to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the Advanced Task Killer because there wasn't a logout function for the Yahoo Mail App and the alerts were going like crazy; however, I needed the alerts for my work email due to oncall. However, now I'm not getting any sound alerts or vibrate, etc for my new email messages and this is very important.
Does anyone know how I can enable the alerts and get them working again. I have uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and powered off the phone, but the email alert notifications unfortunately are still not working.
I hearing them tell me that they called and left me a voicemail, I decided to call 1 on my phone and lo and behold, I had more than 40 missed voice messages. NONE of which I was notified or had in my visual voicemail. When all is said and done, I haven't received a visual voicemail or a notification of a voicemail since June 30! What is wrong with my phone and how can I fix it?

I get the sound and the envelope in the upper corner (using TouchDown, Gmail and Hotmail) but once my screen goes black, I go no visual notification. For SMS, I am using SMS Popup. This is not something I want to return the phone for but would love a work around if anyone has an suggestions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

(I don't know why there isn't a website where I can see all the apps available, why must you do it from your handset only?). And either way, does the notification count as a text message? View 2 Replies View RelatedI was testing my phone and found that if i JUST set it to sleep it will notify me of new emails. But i waited until it was asleep for over 25 min and i sent 2 emails from 2 different email accounts and neither one showed up on my phone until i unlocked it and hit airplane mode and then unchecked airplane mode. i have the mobile data set to always on. I do have only 1 bar at -99 signal strength. but if i turn on and off airplane mode the emails come right in after a prolonged sleep.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I'm just curious if anyone else is seeing this. I understand wi-fi sleeps after 15 minutes of inactivity, but I guess I assumed mobile networking would always stay on. What I'm seeing is, if I leave my phone alone for a little while, as soon as I wake it up, the 3G symbol is not displayed. A second or two later it will show up, and then it will sync. This behavior makes it so that my Gmail push is not as instantaneous as it would be if the 3G always stayed active. I believe (although I'm not positive), that the phone must wake 3G every once in awhile to get e-mails though, although it might just wake up when i get a text or phone call.
I don't see this as a major problem, especially if it's helping me save battery life, but I am curious if this is due to a setting, or if it's just the way the phone works.
I took the plunge and finally rooted my phone (hand clap!!). I flashed a custom kernel (by NETARCHY[4.0.3a]). At 1st everything worked fine (followed EarlyMon's "How to Fix FROYO"---since i lost all my data). The following day i tried another kernel (baked kernel #5). That kernel didnt work to well on my phone so I reflashed NETARCHY's kernel. When i noticed that my battery was draining quickly, i looked in my SPARE PARTS and noticed that my phone is not sleeping---problem is I dont know what it is. Do i need to do a hard reset again---or should i flash another kernel?? Stuck between a rock and a hard place

Is there an app or setting to force the phone to "wake up" when a new notification comes in (gmail, sms, calendar, etc...). I find it easy to miss notifications when the phone is locked and it would be nice for the screen to turn on when a new notification is received.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I after reading some threads on reboots and decided to check the awake time and found that phone wasnt sleeping. Battery life wasnt affected all that bad I thought, lasting throughout the day, however I did an FDR reloaded only a few programs and the problem went away (along with the reboots that occurred nearly everytime I started navigator and only navigator). Battery life was exceptional afterwards, still having at least 60% remaining after unplugging around 8 am and checking later than 7pm
I reloaded the following apps
Shazam
xing barcode scanner
LED desire
Google Earth
Spare Parts, and just now sys panel lite.
Today I experienced another reboot, checked awake time and found it to be at 100% again. After unplugging at 8am and checking at 7 pm, battery remaining is at 36%, way under normal (im usually at 60%+ with heavier usage). Very moderate use today , maybe a dozen short calls, a couple emails, no browsing, took 1 picture and sms'd it, and LED desire (first time used since re-installed) I do keep both my wifi and BT on, 4g off. Ive been in good signal range all day.
