KitKat 4.4 :: Hangouts And SMS - 1 Person / 2 Conversations?

I have a nexus 5 and my girlfriend has a moto x. When she does "Ok google now, send text to Alex" and sends a text that way I get a SMS message in my hangouts inbox. But she also can send a text with hangouts and I have 2 seperate conversations going on with her at the same time and its really annoying. If Hangouts is the default, and ONLY messaging app on both of our phones, why does this happen? I thought Hangouts was the text/video/etc all in one thing. I've posted on G+ pages but couldn't get much back. Also when I send start a new hangout with somebody from my contacts, it automatically labels it an SMS message. I don't know if its because they dont have some sort of Gmail account linked up with their phone or they dont have a picture/profile set up or what. It's just so annoying to have 2 simultaneous conversations going on with the same person.

I just got a new Android phone and I'm loving the updates since my last one (which was running Jelly Bean). I'm using SMS on the Hangouts app, but I'm confused because it separates SMS messages from Hangout messages even from the same person. I have two different conversations going on with my wife, which is a little frustrating, and not substantially better than just having the Hangouts app separate from an SMS app.
I was hoping the threads would integrate so that I could keep having the same conversation in a single thread, even when I want to use SMS instead of 4G.

I'm experiencing an issue where Hangouts is force closing only when trying to communicate with one specific person. I can contact them fine when using the desktop interface, but when trying to use any form of mobile platform, whether that be phone or tablet, the app force closes. I've tried wiping the data, uninstalling and reinstalling.

I was wondering, I know Hangouts is the default SMS app in KitKat. However on the Nexus 5, would there be a way to disable SMS and use the messaging app (I've heard kit at got rid of the messaging app)? Without downloading a third party equivalent?
I use hangouts and messaging apps for different purposes, and would like two different apps (for privacy too, and hangouts is my social chat app).
Is there a Nexus 5/KitKat Hangouts app?

A few weeks ago any video taken via Hangouts would get automatically be backed up (like photos). I could view them online in my google+ autobackup area.
There recently was a change though so now those videos don't seem to be backed up automatically. (Photos still get backed up fine.) And I can't figure out how to save such videos while within Hangouts.

I've been using hangouts for SMS since my Nexus 4 got the Kit Kat update. When I get an SMS I get the notification popup as I have with every SMS app I've used, and I and do a quick reply to the SMS from the popup, but when I press send it disappears off into... I have no idea where. It never arrives and if I look at the hangout thread it should relate to it isn't there.
I did wonder if the popup might be coming from my old SMS add (Handcent) but the icon is Hangouts and the message isn't in Handcent either.

I'm having an issue with opening hangouts and the keyboard not inputting anything into the message field. The keyboards responds to keys pressed but nothing shows up.
I have to close Hangouts from Recent Apps and reopen it to get the keyboard to work. Happens quite often but not everytime.Problem is on a Nexus 5 with 4.4.2. This is my second Nexus 5.

When using Google Hangouts to text on my Nexus 5, every time I enter a web url the string is spell checked and becomes un-clickable. Example:If I type: "whatismyandrioidversion.com" into a txt/sms chat using hangouts, the string is spell checked and auto corrected to "what is my android version.com".
So, then I have to go through a very annoying process of deleting the spaces between each word and fixing the url before I send the message.

i have been playin around with my hero and im a big texter and noticed theres an issue with my text messaging.. when i go to the programs, then hit messages and get into the "All messages" main screen i always only have one person listed (usually the first text i received) and like 50 texts...but the catch is, ill have received texts from maybe 5 different people...so instead of 5 different conversations/people listed on the "All messages" main screen ill have one person and all the conversations from all the different people will be in that one thread.no huge deal right? wrong...if i try to text the last person that texted me it will go to like the person that texted me 20 minutes ago and all sorts of random ppl that had texted me through out the day...its super annoying im guessing this has to be a bug because under all messages i would assume it would seperate by people.

Anyone else experiencing problems with long SMS conversations (20+ messages)? Firstly it seems that intermittently I cannot scroll back through the conversation. If I exit the conversation and go back to it enough times it'll eventually allow me to scroll through.Additionally, when composing a message on a long conversation the keyboard suffers quite bad lag.Is this just me and has anyone found a fix?

When I am viewing messages in a conversation in the GMail app, I cannot see the entire message. The part I don't see is usually the quoted text, so it isn't that big of a deal.However, there are some forums where I get instant email notification of a new post on a thread. The link in the email to go to the thread isn't shown as a clickable URL. If I am receiving the first notification email, it is fine, I can click on the link. But when there are multiple replies, even though I delete old notifications, it still shows up in a conversation view and won't let me click the URL.So, my question is: is there a way to view the entire message in a conversation thread? Currently I have to either switch to the HTC mail app and download via IMAP or go to the GMail's mobile webpage.

I've been having issues with pressing my Inc. say I want to choose the 1st conversation thread, I will press it and it will bring up a totally different conversation (sometimes the conversation I bring up is not even on the screen).Am I the only one with this issue? It is driving me crazy because on the go I have texted the wrong person a few times. I'm not even scrolling through conversations at the time, just bringing up the 'Messages' shortcut.

Gmail won't load conversations for a day. Keeps saying no connection. I have cleared data but this hasn't resolved the problem. I can't figure out how to re install gmail either if I remove it.

I did a quick search and didn't find anything but, is anyone having any issues with gtalk on the N1? What I am asking is when I IM someone and they reply back, the persons reply goes on top of my reply. The IM's are out of order. I tried to reboot etc but it keeps happening. It just started maybe about 30 mins ago.

When i open my "Messages" app (SMS) to read a new text, ill click the message to open the thread, but a thread 6 lines below opens instead? Example: my wife sends me a new text.I open Messages, click on her new message but it opens the text thread from my brother (which was 6 slots down in the main Messaging screen).What the heck? It keeps randomly happening.Is this happening to anyone else?

Is there a decent app available for recording telephone conversations? I'm a medical writer, and part of my job is to interview physicians and record the conversations. When I'm away from my desk, I usually accomplish this by conducting the interview on speakerphone and utilizing a traditional voice recorder. It'd be MUCH better to be able to record the call and then transfer an MP3 of the recording to my laptop.

I have a SGSII and recently i switched from the official ICS rom to CM9 (build date 20 april). I expected to get a better battery life since CM9 is so populair. Unfortunately this isn't the case and so i want to switch back. Only thing is, last time i switched, all my whatsapp conversations were blanc. I couldn't retrieve any old conversations. I know you can email the conversations to yourself but that's not what i want (or is it possible to use these emails in some kind of way to get the conversations back into whatsapp???). Is it possible to backup all my conversations so i can put them back into whatsapp after i flashed the phone to another rom (probably the official rom).
Also, as you can see, I'm not fond of CM9 although this is the most populair rom. Did i do something wrong? I'm a heavy whatsapp user and even when i'm charging the battery drains when using whatsapp (brightness auto and stable WiFi connection). I never game on my device or use bluetooth or gps. I mostly use my phone for facebook, whatsapp, twitter and browsing. Also my phonesignal drops sometimes and my 3G is also worse than before.
Is there a ROM which will give me with my requirements the best Battery life + phonesignal (3G)??

For some reason, I do not receive a notification for an incoming MMS message in Hangouts. I receive notifications for SMS messages perfectly fine, but not MMS. When I open the app, I will see MMS messages download, but I never receive a notification.

I have a Galaxy S4 and been using GoSMS from about day 1. I gave Hangouts a try with it's latest version and like what I see. The problem I am running into is, I'm not getting any notifications of new messages, though I have notifications on in the settings.
I disabled all notifications in GoSMS and they stopped but still none from Hangouts. I've googled and googled and tried various recommendations to no avail so I'm reaching out here for some assistance.
