I updated my SM-N9005 to official KitKat, root, CWM recovery.
I lost the gmail app icon.
The app itself works. When I receive an email, the gmail app notifies me and in Play Store gmail appears as "installed".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S, international version, not SIM-locked, not rooted, running Android 2.1-update1. Today I suddenly noticed that my Contacts icon has disappeared from the bottom bar (so I'm not talking about any widgets or shortcuts which the user can manipulate, it's the one which is supposed to sit between the Phone and Messaging icons). The contact data hasn't gone anywhere, I can access contacts through the Phone app, but the missing Contacts icon still bothers me.
I have updated a bunch of apps recently - all of which I have used for a long time before without any problems, such as: Advanced Task Cleaner Pro, Smart Keyboard, Layar, Google Maps, KeePassDroid, Retro Camera and maybe something else too. Today I also erased the trial version of the dictionary app SlovoEd Deluxe and installed the paid version.
Now, should I try to erase the (free) apps one by one to see if that solves the problem, or do I have to go for a hard reset/return to factory settings straight away?
I used to have the "1X" icon on my notifications bar. According to the manual, it meant that I was connected to the "3G" network and was transmitting data (fyi with Sprint). That icon has since disappeared?
Does that mean that i'm no longer connected to 3G speeds?
My market icon disappeared from my phone. how do i get it back.

When the "Data Traffic" arrow is selected in the Mobile network settings the icon disappears from the toolbar at the top, but when it is not selected the icon appears. I cannot access the internet or download any of the Apps. Can it be sorted out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTake a look at the microphone icon on a stock 4.3 Jelly Bean home screen. Open up Google now and the same icon is there. Now take a look at the Play Store. In Play Magazines as well you the mic icon from Ice Cream Sandwich. The Play Store has (somewhat) recently undergone a significant upgrade when Jelly Bean was at a mature age of version 4.2. It will updated again in time for 4.4 KitKat, evolving into line with current Android design guidelines featuring the sliding navigation drawer. Will Google then update the mic icon or will they revert it back to the ICS style in the future?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Fresh Evo 0.3 on a stock Evo and everything was fine and dandy. ES File Explorer worked, ROM Manager, everything, etc. I then decided to flash the latest radio update as well. Upon the reboot, all my settings got lost, I had to redo my email, etc but the radio got updated. It also looks like all the apps Fresh 0.3 included now went missing. Did I do something wrong or it this a bug?

At first I thought it was just slow to load them, it sometimes happens & you wait for a couple of seconds then they all appear. But not today. I updated my firmware yesterday twice - first to 1.32.405.3 and then to 1.32.405.6 - but they were definitely there after the updates. I've seen some other threads with the same issue on other phones but they're all at least a few months old. htcsense.com has, disaapointingly, not got all of my messages either. It seems to have most of them (including the last one I sent) but somehow is missing some in between.

View 6 Replies View RelatedTurned on my phone this morning and besides getting emails I had an update notification. I used the advanced task killer before I actually clicked on anything and the update disappeared on me. I know, shouldnt have done that, just force of habbit when I first turn on the phone everyday. Anyhow, I re-booted my phone thinking it might come back and it didnt. I then checked for system updates on the phone and it said there werent any. Just checking to see if anyone else has ever had something like this happen to them.

Seems that I had the phone on in my pocket and the camera Icon got oddly stuck partially visible off the bottom of the screen from an inadvertent pocket long press. Then the camera icon went away altogether.
Now when I try to add an icon in the spot where it was (lower right stock position) a black circle appears and swallows up whatever I put there. It's like a folder, but it is invisible until I try to place the camera icon or any other icon there. Acts like a black hole. I can add the camera Icon back to any home screen, just not to that far right spot on the favorites tray.
i was using handcent sms all fine. until yesterday when i updated the app. my contacts name shown in the app disappeared!!

Tried to search for temple run on Play Store but it didnt show the game app itself although its it already installed on my phone it should stillcbe there on the list.

The best I could do so far was mute a conversation. I don't want to permanently block but I want to be able to hide all emails from certain senders at least temporarily to avoid distractions.
I searched and saw it's possible to create a filter (or it was in the past, anyway) in the desktop settings . an easier way via the mobile app.

I just got my Nexus 5 on KitKat and all is going great except the Gmail app.
On my last phone which was running 4.2.2 I was able to swipe to delete conversations from inside the app and I could delete messages from the notifications bar. I have gone through every setting and I cannot figure out/ remember how to turn this back on. Is the option still available in KitKat?

Been googling this all day and none of the answers I've found have worked.
Every time I open Gmail, at the top it says "account sync is turned off"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am on the Nexus 5.I have already looked up about this problem online, but the fixes for this seems to be either a hard reset, a factory reset, or the YouTube trick, where one signs into their gmail through YouTube and fixes this issue.
I have attempted all three of these things, but I still can't add my gmail account. The "Can't connect to server" message still pops, even when trying to sign in through the YouTube app.
HTC One (2013) running 4.4.2 from Verizon. When I open a picture attachment that someone sends me in Gmail, a black screen comes up and the picture is not visible. If I hit back button, and then re-open the picture attachment, it will show it in full screen. Seems like an odd bug, how do I get it to show when I click it the first time?
