May 25, 2014I often see a pop up box which says click to remove phone ads but when I do, it redirects me to a page where I would need to purchase the app for it to work on my phone.

May 30, 2014Does the 4.4 update remove the carriers restrictions on the Google wallet? Specifically can you use the nfc payment. I read that the carriers restricted the nfc payment feature on Google wallet for "supposed security reasons" and that the 4.4 update is supposed to fix this.

Nov 2, 2013Now that in 4.4 you can use any SMS app, although hangouts will be default, I'm curious what are seen as the best SMS app alternatives out there? I've only really used the stock messenger on the N4 and use Hangouts for video mainly. If hangouts isn't the best SMS client, which should I look at. I've seen GoSms, Handcent, etc as popular alternatives in the play store.

KitKat 4.4 :: No More MMS Notifications?
Feb 23, 2014I used to get notified whenever I received an MMS with data turned off.I could tell its an MMS but I could not read it.In order to read it I would have to turn on my data and the message would show up( whatever it was picture or group message or a High priority system alert from a server from my office) Now 2 weeks ago I dont know what changed but this stopped happening.
So I turned on my data one day and I started receiving all these MMS messages that were like a week old.(one of them was an alert from my office) which means i was not getting any MMS notifications.and in order to get MMS notifications I would always need to keep my data on.
How do i get my old setup back which I used to get notified whenever I received an MMS with data turned off.and In order to read it I would have to turn on my data and the message would show up.
Im on family mobile FYI. Im using stock Nexus 4 ROM. No Root.Im using GO SMS PRO & switched to CHOMPSMS.

Mar 22, 2014I have installed on my phone a app called remote lock (rlyp) this is how it works.
you send a text message to your phone for example #lock and it locks your phone with a message LOCK, with your custom message below. sending a text back saying your phone have been locked.
The only way to unlock your phone is to send another sms for example #unlock, your phone gets unlocked and sends a message back saying your phone have been unlocked.
The text messages never used to show in the sms messages nor did you get any notifications of the message received.
The only problem is with this app is since the update to kitkit, the phone displays the sms in the inbox, which I know can't be read until the phone has been unlocked, but if you forgot to delete the message and someone else say the message they could lock your phone s a prank etc.
As I don't think this app is supported anymore so any similar app out there, all I want to do is to be able to lock and unlock the phone by sms, and no other means, and for the phone that locked it to get a message saying the phone has been locked. I have seen a few apps out there which do a similar trick but they give the option to enter a password on the screen of the locked phone.
Failing that is there a way to fix the app already installed so that the phone will not display the incoming messages of the lock and unlock texts anywhere, but still allow them to work?
KitKat 4.4 :: Is There A Way To Put Phone In DND Mode Like IOS
Apr 18, 2014in iOS, I can set a DND mode for a specific time automatically so the phone will not ring or alert me during that specified time. This is particularly useful for a recurring event (meeting or sleeping time).
Is there a way to do that in 4.4.2 without downloading a new app in Google Play? It would be nice to be able to do that automatically so i do not have to silent the phone every single time for that recurring event.

May 23, 2014Is there an app that really blocks SMS text from blacklisted numbers? Avast is working on their software, since Google broke text blocking with KitKat. But any already released software that really works with KitKat? (I used the Nexus 5 SMS app on my Nexus 7 in order to restore SMS, but along with good text is a lot of spam. Go SMS Pro does not work for me, it will only save drafts, not send or block.)

Mar 26, 2014i have some ridiculous lag on my samsung S4 (GT-I9505, running 4.4.2). When i boot into the camera the screen changes to showing what the camera sees, but I can't take a picture or focus the camera for around a minute.
when other people are talking about lag with 4.4.2 (and therefore I should do a factory reset) or is this something else? Other apps don't seem to be showing noticeable lag. If i do perform a factory reset is that pointless if i use an app to backup my data and restore it? as in, is the factory reset only effective if i redownload all my apps, redo all my setting etc etc? If i can backup without making a factory reset pointless, is there a particular backup app that is better than any of the others?
Other possibly relevant info is
- my device is rooted
- i use folder mount to store stuff on my sd card (but the only folders i can image could potentially be related to this issue are cloudagent, dcim, documentsync and pictures)
- I'm running a stock rom (a german one) - build number KOT49H.I9505XXUFNB8

Mar 27, 2014My Samsung Galaxy S4 will NOT charge all of a sudden. This started yesterday. It gave me an error message saying that creating a customized of could be harmful and to press the volume down key to stop it before it starts. I pressed the down key to stop it. My phone was going dead. So after connecting it to its charger and rebooting the phone; it would chim]e and say that it is charging but it WILL NOT CHARGE!
I have reset the s4 back to factory settings, I have tried x 3 other chargers that work fine with my wife's S4. I have also taken the battery and putnitnin my wifes s4 and the battery charges completely fine.

Nov 7, 2013I moved from my Nexus 4 to a new Nexus 5. I want to export the data from the stock messaging app on the Nexus 4 into Hangouts on the 5. It looks like Hangouts won't convert them if they're not already in a messaging app on the same phone. I've tried installing Go SMS on the 5 but it won't see the messages either. I'm trying to move them using My Backup Pro.
