I just got the nexus 4 ota..However whenever i try to manually sync( (In settings) by hitting the dots at the top of the screen... it always says "cancel sync". (even when its not syncing). (It syncs fine... however i cant sync manually).

I have the fb contacts sync option off as I want to manually sync my contacts, but when I try to do so, it doesn't load any fb contacts for me to link to? I am logged in and all seems to be fine... what's the problem?

The reason is I don't want auto-sync enabled all the time. I tried using Anycut to create a shrotcut, but it kept crashing.
Yes, I did un-check auto-sync on setting, it works on gmail app, but not on mail app.
How can I set mail app to sync manually? I mean not notification, but actual email app. I want to check my emails when I actually open email app. I don't want mail app check my emails for me.
I did find to turn notifications off, but thats not what I want.
or are there any 3rd party apps that let me do that?
I'm running White Widow 4.6 with Google Apps installed and JIT on. Not all of my FB contacts are syncing with my phone contacts. For example, my sister is not linked to any FB profile when she should be. The names match up. Most of the people are, but some aren't. I can't find a way to link it manually to her FB profile. All of my contacts sync'd fine with the stock OS. Anybody else have this issue? Do you have a solution? I had the same problem in KaosFroyo v23 and never found a solution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to re-establish or manually add the Facebook syncronization option to an existing contact in my Contacts app? I lost the Facebook sync icon in the contact information and this is inconvienent at best, and possibly is the cause of disabling the phone functionality at worse. Subsequent behavior on at least two occassions has shown that attempts to dial out using this particular contact locks up the dialer, causing multiple forces closes, and essentially disables the phone functionally both in and out of the phone for long periods time (10-20 mins) until the application can be correctly cleared and purged from memory.
I was able to successfully sync my Contacts with both my Google contact list and then all my Facebook friends. However some of the contact information was not exactly how I preferred and attempts to update that information using the Google contact list was not always successful. Not entirely sure if this is a bug or by design. I was able to successfully modify one contacts name with Facebook sync from first name first to last name first (to correct sorting to my preference). A second contact wouldn't modify no matter if I updated the name information on Google contact or on the phone itself. Finally I attempted to delete the contact and re-add it. This worked but now I lost its Facebook sync (no Facebook icon to click within the contact information). I'm not sure if this detachment is causing the dialer problems.
After syncing all my Facebook friends with my contacts (for complete-ism), I successfully deleted some Facebook friends from my contact list. But what if I want one back with Facebook sync, is that possible?
Is there a way to manuallt do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Moto Droid and just recently it stopped receiving e-mails (I assume phone calls and texts, as well though I never tested). I have 2 Comcast POP3 emails setup on my phone to sync every 30 minutes. Randomly, the phone will stop receiving e-mails--I can't manually sync and end up having to turn the phone off and on (not pulling the battery) to receive e-mails again. This happened with my old BB too. Does anyone know of a reason why my phone stops functioning properly?

A thread must be able to wait on it and wait would return immediately if the object is in signaled state and block if it is in non signaled state until another thread sets it to signaled state. There must be way to reset the object back to non-signaled state.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm still new to Android in general, so maybe I don't know something. I like to option of automatic sync of my photos to G+. However, when it comes to accessing those photos from my PC, it's rather inconvenient. The web interface is, to my feeling, rather lacking.
Is there a way to access the photos as if they were in a regular folder? Mostly, I want to be able to select a number of pictures and move them. To do this, right now I have to mouse-select them one by one, then download a weird zip archive, then select them one by one again and delete them from G+. Is there a way to do this faster and easier? If not, is there a way to sync them as they are now, but to Google Drive instead of G+?
Upgraded from the droid 4 to the droid max. Installed Facebook and my contacts won't sync. Went through Verizon forums and still couldn't get it. It will sync pics but not contacts.

I just heard on a podcast that this was announced last year and I didn't even realize it was supposed to work. I have a Nexus 5 and 7 and the google calendar notifications always need to be dismissed on each device, they never sync the dismissals.

im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
Due to circumstances at my work , I cannot access the internal network outside.
Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.
To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.
The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.
This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.
How can i bypass this message and add the second account?
normally I have sync turned off to prolong battery life but it also removes the capability to see the desktop bookmarks while in Android's Chrome browser. I thought the bookmarks were stored locally and then synced back when sync turned on.
To see desktop bookmarks I have to flip the sync on do my thing and then flip it back off when I'm done browsing.
I just moved from blackberry to android and I am having some issues with the calendar. My old calendar had individual pop ups for each event, the pop up allowed you to open/snooze/ or dismiss each item individually. Also my old calendar had no trouble syncing my gmail and facebook calendars. Android seems to have trouble doing this seemingly simple task. Is there an app or special calendar that can do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm taking pictures with the EVO to post here and while I'm holding the phone watching the autofocus do its thing, and when it finally takes the pic, its settles on a focus that is not as sharp as it could be. While it is focusing, there are moments when the autofocus will have focused perfectly but it keeps focusing past that point.. I looked through ALL the settings and couldn't figure it out... Is there a way to manually focus the camera other than physically moving the camera forward or backwards?

I downloaded the SDK Manager manually, then downloaded the 2.0 (and 1.5r3) platforms, and only then updated Eclipse...and realised I probably should have updated it all from the ADT within Eclipse. So I am currently stuck with Eclipse not able to see the SDK's I downloaded to the SDK Manager.
How do I add those SDK's the ADT, or do I just have to re-download the SDK from within Eclipse (which seems like a real waste).
How can I manually install an app? Pretty simply question, with probably a simple response, but I have not a clue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I am a total newbie not only to the boards but also to the Eris. So I would like to thank all of you in advance for not flaming me if this is a super simple fix. I have had my eris for about 3 weeks now. Everything works perfectly but over the last few days I can no longer hit the red end call button in order to manually lock my phone. When I press it, my phone does NOTHING. It will however still lock after it is idle for 1 one and it will also open back up when I hit the red button (so I know its not a problem with the physical button). I have restarted it, removed the battery, and deleted apps that were downloaded around the same time this started. I have also checked every setting I can possible think of but can't figure this out.

Am desperate to install it as have read in couple of places on XDA forums that it increases the media volume which is a big issue on my device (yes, yes I know some of you get blown away by yours but trust me I'm not deaf or stupid, it's just ridiculously quiet).
