KitKat 4.4 :: Widgets - Notifications On Locked Screen
Jun 2, 2014New to Android moving from the iProduct line of goods. What I can add to the locked home screen to display: Missed call, Text received, Email received. I think I need to add a widget or do I add an app which automatically adds any widget available on the widget menu?
Is there one current good app or widget that will do all the above.

Sep 17, 2012The situation is this: at work the computers are heavily locked down. By that I mean that you can not download and install anything, no cd rom access and no usb access. they run win xp (some of you may be too young to have heard of this)
I have recently discovered, however, that when i plug my galaxy s3 in, the pc sees it as a digital camera, and i can access every folder on the internal sd card through windows explorer. i can then transfer any file i like to the computer This never happened on my g note, nexus s, or any other device.
Now, I can only confirm that the above works on xpower 2.5 ics custom rom. when I changed to hypergalaxy jb rom, there was no access to my phone via the pc.
how and why this works, and how i might use a hack to enable any usb device on such a locked down pc?

Mar 26, 2014i have some ridiculous lag on my samsung S4 (GT-I9505, running 4.4.2). When i boot into the camera the screen changes to showing what the camera sees, but I can't take a picture or focus the camera for around a minute.
when other people are talking about lag with 4.4.2 (and therefore I should do a factory reset) or is this something else? Other apps don't seem to be showing noticeable lag. If i do perform a factory reset is that pointless if i use an app to backup my data and restore it? as in, is the factory reset only effective if i redownload all my apps, redo all my setting etc etc? If i can backup without making a factory reset pointless, is there a particular backup app that is better than any of the others?
Other possibly relevant info is
- my device is rooted
- i use folder mount to store stuff on my sd card (but the only folders i can image could potentially be related to this issue are cloudagent, dcim, documentsync and pictures)
- I'm running a stock rom (a german one) - build number KOT49H.I9505XXUFNB8
KitKat 4.4 :: No Samba Access Since 4.4.2 Update?
Jan 5, 2014I have a Samba server at home, running from my router's USB port. I access files on this drive from my Nexus 4, my Nexus 10, my Windows computer and my iPad. Up until very recently, this was all working swimmingly, with no problems.
However, since the most recent Android update, i have been unable to access the Samba server from either of my two Android devices. The Android devices can see other devices on the network (via ES File Explorer), but no longer the USB device attached to the router, via the Samba server.
This isn't a problem with ES File Explorer as the exact same issue is found when using other remote file viewers. And this isn't a problem with the router, as I called the manufacturer, who also acts as my ISP, to check the settings remotely, and they said that they're optimised (as you would expect, as the other devices are still working fine).
I tried to access the server using AndSMB, failing again, but getting this error message:

Dec 12, 2013Just upgraded nexus 5 to 4.4.2and the flash control is greyed out even with HDR+ deselected. I tested the flash by sheilding light with my hand and it works (on auto) just greyed out cant change from auto to manual. Pretty ordinary if you ask me. would like to force flash on on occasion.

Seems that I had the phone on in my pocket and the camera Icon got oddly stuck partially visible off the bottom of the screen from an inadvertent pocket long press. Then the camera icon went away altogether.
Now when I try to add an icon in the spot where it was (lower right stock position) a black circle appears and swallows up whatever I put there. It's like a folder, but it is invisible until I try to place the camera icon or any other icon there. Acts like a black hole. I can add the camera Icon back to any home screen, just not to that far right spot on the favorites tray.

General :: Write Only Access To Internal / External SDCard On Kitkat
Jun 2, 2014I am using a mt6582m device with kitkat 4.4.2 with supersu. I can use root to write to system, data and cache using es file explorer, can also read and write to any sd card, but apps like titanium backup, online android backup, ram expander can't read/write to sd card.
Eg.1: ti backup read backups, can do all operation except backup and restore.
I had read a lot, changing backup path didn't worked nor any odex file is there. Using v6.1.5.6.
Eg. 2: ram expander can create swap file on sd but can read it saying 'not found'. Swap can be used with cache partition.
Eg. 3: online nandroid backup says pat not vaild.
I had tried, sd fix app, manually editing platform.xml, xposed module to 'handel external storage', change permissions using es file explorer, editing ramdisk.
There is storage/sdcard0 and 1
Also mnt/sdcard and mnt/sdcard2 (symlinked)
Also mnt/media_rw/sdcard0 and 1 (not readable even in es file explorer)

Jan 3, 2010I am having to slide the screen down enter the unlock sequence and then see how is calling. I have missed several calls by doing this. I can reboot the phone and it is back to normal. When phone locked pops up who's calling and can answer. Works fine for a few calls and then back to having to unlock phone first. The screen will just flash on and off. Got the animated circle working with a switch for ripple on/off,weather and live wallpaper lockscreen support.
I just cannot get the ripple interaction when screen locked. When the movement to unlock is made the ripple appears.
Logcat shows the ripple renderer runs when screen is locked and touched but whilst locked the screen does not display the interaction.....

I think its possibly phonewindowmanager or keyguardmediator which is stopping the screen displaying interaction until the movement to unlock is made. Any process that links what is shown on screen and interaction when locked (for lockscreen music widgets for example which allow interaction when locked)
