HTC Incredible :: Adjusting Volume While Screen Is Locked
May 18, 2010When my screen is locked, I can't adjust the media volume.Is there a way to change that?

Motorola Droid :: Screen Locked But Volume Rocker Still Active
Jan 14, 2010I listen to Slacker Radio a lot and I noticed that even though my screen will be locked, the volume rocker on the side of the phone will still be active to change the volume for the music. I'm kinda on the fence about whether I like this or not (sometimes it's annoying to unlock the screen just to change the volume by a notch or two, but I also don't want to change the volume by accident when it's in my pocket), but either way, is it supposed to be like this?

May 25, 2010I did the OTA upgrade to 2.1 last week, and noticed that the "click" when typing on the keyboard is really loud now.I notice this mostly when texting, which I do at work, and now it's so loud that everyone around me can hear.So, the question is how to adjust the volume for text input? I can't for the life of me figure out where this setting is. I have looked through all the menus but I guess there is one that I havent found. I also looked in the Handcent app menu and there's nothing in there.Also no adjustment in the standard text program either.

Nov 18, 2010An app or mod that will use the microphone to sense the amount of noise around you and adjust the notifications accordingly - that is to say when its quiet, next to my bed and I am sleeping I want it to be all quiet sounds - but when I am working and there is fan noises and other stuff that is louder then normal I want the notifications to be loud - but if I walk into the break room which is quiet I want it to be quiet again - or if I am listening to music in a room or car turn up the notifications so I can here them and back down when not. You know take a sound reading and turn up or down the volume of the notification that is happening at that given time.
Only problem being when its in your pocket it will always seem to be quieter then normal so they will be quiet also, so there would need to be something to listen to the sound and determine if its being muffled by a pocket or whatever and turn it up then - if playing a sound and analysing that sound it should be able to determine what environment the phone is in, like a pocket or bag that will make it quieter. I am not even sure if i am describing this properly but I know someone can probably figure it out, but it might have to be something the manufacturer does, like that phone that has 2 microphones to auto cancel out background noises like a bluetooth headset.

Jun 24, 2010I am a phone junky, I've had a bunch of phones including all the bberry's. Love my incredible, it's like going 10 years in the future. The only issue I have is I keep bumping the volume buttons. Why don't they have an option to Lock the volume by pushing both buttons at one time? Push both of item again and but unlocks the volume.

Sep 6, 2010I listen to alot of music and i HATE having to wake it up and everything to adjust the volume. I'm used to an iPod where you can adjust while its locked. I was wondering if they'res some way to make this option available with android. I'm using a Motorola A555 with android 1.6. Is there some type of app or a simple code change to make this possible? I want it to be for media but if it would know when to do media or ringer that would be great.

Sep 7, 2010I don't understand why while using the lock feature on my Incredible when i recieve a text it shows up on the screen before i unlock the phone. isn't the point of locking it to keep prying eyes from seeing your stuff? Is there a way to prevent the contents of the text from showing up before unlocking while still being notified that you have recieved a message?

May 4, 2010Coming from a Treo 700wx that I use thru Active Sync, and connect to my companies exchange server.
My Treo when locked, would only show the time, My name and a telephone number. In the case I lost it, some good samaritan could contact me when they realize the phone was useless with out the PIN.
I cannot find anything similar to this on the Incredible.... Can someone assist me?

Oct 25, 2010I searched for and found a thread from back in 2009 with no answer to this question. I'm hoping something may have changed since then. Basically I don't want the volume keys to work at all when the phone is locked. My volume is always lower when the phone comes out of my pocket than it was when I put it in.

May 23, 2010Just wondering, on 1.5, the Ringer/Alerts volume was locked together so however loud the Ringer volume was, the notification volume would be the same. Since upgrading to 2.1 OTA, they are no longer linked together. Is there any way I can link them back together so they are they same volume without having to individually change each one? It's kind of annoying when I set my Ringer volume to low, and all of the sudden I get a text and it's almost 3 times as loud.

Nov 13, 2009Until now I had my screen set to auto brightness.First, +1 to those who said in other threads that the screen looks even better when you turn that off and put brightness all the way up.But my question here is why, on auto brightness, the screen sometimes increased or decreased brightness when I was using it. It happened all the time. The only thing I can rule out as the cause was time delay, because sometimes it happened as I was typing or just after, and sometimes it would happen after a delay. I think it must be connected to either orientation, or movement, or brightness sensor detecting the ambient light, or something.If I could figure out how to make it stop doing that I would go back to auto-brightness.

Apr 30, 2010I don't know if it's from some app I installed or what. But I noticed recently that suddenly the volume rocker only controls the Media Volume or the In-call volume (if you're in a call), not the Ringer Volume. I don't have anything playing, so not sure why it's like that. I want it to default to ringer and I'll worry about Media when I'm actually in a program that uses it.

Jan 3, 2010I am having to slide the screen down enter the unlock sequence and then see how is calling. I have missed several calls by doing this. I can reboot the phone and it is back to normal. When phone locked pops up who's calling and can answer. Works fine for a few calls and then back to having to unlock phone first. The screen will just flash on and off. I have looked for a setting and can't find one. Any ideas?
