My old phone started crapping out the past couple days. The 4,8, and # keys no longer work when pressed. Will this present a problem when a rep tries to transfer over my contacts to the Incredible?

I want to order an Incredible for my girlfriend from Wirefly/Sears Wireless or Amazon. She wants to transfer the upgrade from her dad's line (they're on a family plan) to her number, but whenever we try to do that on the Verizon website it doesn't stick.Is there a way to permanently transfer the upgrade to her number? Otherwise, could I order the Incredible under her dad's number, and then activate it with her number once we get it? I've heard mixed answers as to whether or not Wirefly/Sears Wireless will charge an ETF for this action.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm getting tired of waiting for the OTA froyo update when I can just root and use a leaked version. I was wondering what my best bet would be. I figure I will root with the unrevoked method since it seems straight forward. What should I use for changing roms, though? Clockworkmod looked good because the paid version allowed for updating to newer roms right off app without having to look for them... but from what I understand Titanium is the only way to transfer over your existing apps/contacts/etc to a new rom. I'm not too keen on having to reinstall ALL my apps and data... what does everyone here suggest?

Should I use some backup app or just mount the 2 cards on the computer and copy all files from one card to the other? Does it matter? I am also curious how to backup the entire device prior to the 2.0 update coming. It seems like the 2.0 update will require flashing the phone. I assume it will erase everything? I wonder if sprint will provide an easy way to "upgrade" to 2.0 without losing everything on the phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLike many other I am delighted to finally have 2.1 on my Hero. But I have found a slight niggle with the way contacts are stored which seems a bit different and wondered if anyone else had noticed it and/or found an easy solution to the problem it causes.
When I installed 2.1 I didn't check the sync settings and the default was to sync Google contacts, so it appears all those contacts have been synced to my phone. I don't use those, so I un-checked the sync Google contacts flag and set the view option in the People app to only view Phone contacts.
My recollection is (but I could be wrong) that under 1.5, if you un-checked the sync Google contacts setting, all the Google contacts were removed. This does not seem to have happened this time. In the View contacts settings page it's still showing 1613 Google contacts.
The real problem is that when I use the phone keypad smart dial, it still finds the Google contacts so they still come up as options. (As do the SIM card contacts despite the settings in the People app).
Has anyone else found this? And if so, is there a way to 'un-sync' the Google contacts so that they are removed from the phone?
Is there a way to transfer my Facebook Contacts into my people contacts? When I upgraded to 2.1, I forgot to sync a few contacts. The names show up, but as Facebook contacts and I want them as people contacts. Also, is there a way to delete Facebook contacts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched from a Nokia N95 to an HTC Desire on Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't out in the Middle East yet I guess). I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts on to the Desire. On setting up the phone, it has pulled my contacts from Gmail & Facebook, which I don't really need. I will not be calling or mailing most of the people on that list. There are a 1000+ contacts on those lists and I don't need all of them on my contact list. I tried to use the Nokia Ovi Suite to sync contacts, but for some reason I was not able to transfer them onto the PC. So I copied them all onto the SIM card and then put the SIM into the Desire and exported them to the phone memory.
The problem is that on copying them onto the SIM on the N95, I have multiple entries on the list. For contacts with more than 1 number under them, there are separate entries for each number, with the same name. Is there a method to group them the same way they were earlier i.e. One contact entry with a Home, Mobile, & Business number? Do let me know. It will hugely helpful. The only other way I can think of is to sit and enter all the numbers manually!

I can make and receive calls via hands-free car kit but only part of my phone book contacts transferred to the car (only contacts from A to N in my case) When I deleted on the phone all contacts from letter N, contacts from letter M appeared on the car display. I called T-Mobile and Samsung - no help. Support from Samsung told me to find at android market Bluetooth Profile for Phone book Access but I can't find it. If anybody have the same problem or have a knowledge how to fix it.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI just pre-ordered the EVO yesterday. Since this is at Radio Shack, I am assuming that they won't be able to transfer the contacts from me pre to the EVO. Is this correct? I decided to go ahead and fix all my contacts on gmail anyway just in case. This gives me something to do while waiting for my EVO.... Will the Evo import all my contacts when I log into my gmail account and set it as my main sync account? What I am doing is this:
1. I installed the 'contacts to email' patch using preware and exported all my contacts as a vcard file. This is probably a good idea anyway. I don't completely trust "cloud" storage.
2. I sent myself the email and then imported this vcard file into gmail contacts. This resulted in about 350 contacts in gmail. I'm now working through them doing edits and combining duplicates. Is this the best way to prepare my contacts for the EVO?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded last night to 2.1 and while I'm annoyed at the superficial loss of settings, what is really annoying me is the automatic sync to google. I don't need my phone to sync my contacts, in fact I'd prefer that it did not.
So, in Settings - Accounts & sync, I unchecked Auto-sync. But I am getting that annoying message in the notification bar all the time that says "Too many Contacts deletes"
I just upgraded my Galaxy's firmware.
I can see all the apps that I have installed, all pics, all music files even all SMS's but I don't have any contacts in my phone any more.
Are they gone for good or are they hiding somewhere on the phone?
I didn't have them synced with my gmail account.
