Android :: Recently Used Apps In Notification Area
Sep 19, 2010Does anyone know of an app that achieves the display of recently used apps in the notification dropdown area?Essentially, performing the same function that a long press on the home button does, but obviously eliminating the need to press a button. I've been looking for something like this for a good while, and was pleasantly surprised to see HTC had included this very function in their latest version of Sense.... when I went to the HTC London meet last week. unfortunately, the HTC guys demoing informed me there is currently no way to obtain this feature for current handsets.

Oct 6, 2010When clicking and holding the home button the very useful modal dialogue appears showing the list of recently used programs/applications. Unfortunately, most of the time it appears and then disappears again. It is very annoying and makes this feature useless.
I am using LauncherPro on my Android 2.1 (CyanogenMod 5.0.8 DS), but with ADW launcher it showed the same behaviour.
Android : Apps To Monitor What Other Apps Are Doing
Jul 2, 2010Are there any apps that will record what another app is doing? For example, when I use an app and it sends data, or receives data etc, is there a way for me to monitor what and how it's being done? Be it via wifi, sprint, to what servers, from what servers etc.
I dont just need to know HOW the data is being sent, I need to know everything about it. From, to, ip's, url's, etc.
Basically I want to see what an apps doing and possibly block certain things.

Android : Task Killer - All Apps Are Started Automatically?
Nov 4, 2010I have the DroidX, everytime I go into Task Killer I see mostly all the apps I have are already started, without me physically starting them. So, I kill all the apps but when I go back into task killer thay are all started once again. Seems to me these apps shouldnt be started unless I started them. Not automatically started. It's killing my battery life.

Nov 21, 2013I'm wondering about apps that are a little more than battery power monitors. I'd like something that will show me the apps that are running and taking up the most memory and causing the biggest power drains on my phone.
Something that would log this so I could look it over during the week and get an overall view and make decisions on what to keep and what to erase.
I'm thinking something that would show me what apps I used, how long they were running, how much memory they took up, how much battery power was used, etc.
Is there such an app out there? I'm wanting to look at the differences between the free apps and paid apps to see if it makes a difference also.
I'm running a Sprint GN2 currently 4.1.2. I haven't gotten the update yet.

Jan 6, 2010My Eris recently stopped getting 3G (or even 1x) service. When I try turning mobile network on it takes a long time like its searching then says it is on but when you go into "about phone" and look at mobile network it says it is not connected and there is no 3G or 1x display in the status bar. I am currently at school in the bay area and it worked for the first few days I was here, not sure exactly when it stopped cuz I mostly use wireless but noticed it when I wanted to do something off wireless. Pretty sure it is not a coverage issue because my friend with a moto droid gets 3G and it is almost as fast as his wireless connection at full bars. Also now I cant send or receive MMS due to this (apparently cant transmit over WiFi or voice signal), making my smart phone less useful than a dumb phone.

My problem is that the other night I went to download a new runner game and noticed that it wouldn't work, just sound no screen. So I tried to play Temple Run 2 which had worked previously, now it no longer would play. Naught no longer played either, I just then downloaded several of the 100 series games and they won't play as well. What I may have uninstalled that is causing this to happen and how I can fix it?

Oct 8, 2010Can anyone recommend a good battery monitor-typed app? It can be a widget or app, but I'd like to have some sort of visual representation of how much battery is left (like a %). Doesn't have to be in notification area (unless I can hide the stock one). All the ones I search in the market just don't look like they are worth anything, and if I pay for one, I want it to be worth it. I'm monitoring my battery usage. I installed one and it told me 30% but the stock battery bar was full. It was then uninstalled.

I have checked the docs / threads / forums, and i only found that you can get the total available memory value, but i could not find in the sdk an api call for getting the memory used by a single application. I know that one way to do this is by reading the values from /proc/ <pid> virtual file system but this is painful for the device cpu. Can you help me figure out how to solve this problem ? Or does anyone know how settings -> applications -> manager applications read the memory usage values.
