HTC EVO 4G :: Setting Wallpaper From Stored Images
Jul 7, 2010Under gallery, I've tried setting wallpaper from images stored. I'm experiencing two problems:
1) When using the green border to select the part of the image I'd like, it never stretches to the full size of the image. It maxes out at about half the size of any image.
2) Once cropped after clicking set as wallpaper, the wallpaper shows way too zoomed in and I lose at least half the image I cropped.
General :: Android 4.0.3 - Where Homescreen Wallpaper Stored On ICS
Mar 4, 2012As stated in the title I would like to know where exactly the default homescreen wallpaper image is stored on the ICS file system?
I am using version 4.0.3
Say for example I have a friend with a cool background wallpaper and that I want a copy of it. Where exactly would I look in the android file system on his phone to get a copy of it?
Note: I do not want to download an app which manages my wallpaper images I want to find out how it works on ICS so that I can manage it myself.
I googled a bit and found the tutorial below at the end of this email. It would appear that (on Gingerbread) wallpaper is managed by framework-res.apk
When I looked however at the different png files in "framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi" on my ICS installation I nothing what so ever that looks like my current home screen.
The wallpaper is stored under the system/media
On ICS I have 4 folders at that level
alarms
notifications
ringtones
ui
On ICS there are no images in any of these folders. The above was most likely true for Gingerbread but not ICS.
Is wallpaper managed by the launcher or by ICS itself?

Dec 16, 2009Anyone know where the moments wallpaper gallery images are stored? I can't find em on the SDCard. I'm also trying to add my own custom images that I've put on the card and every time I set them as my wallpaper they seem soooo zoomed in? I've tried resizing them from 1600 to like 480xwhatever and I still get the same results.

Android : Get Screenshot Includes Current Wallpaper Without DDMS
Nov 15, 2010I applied android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Wallpaper" to get the current wallpaper as the background of my application. Then, I used the getRootView().getDrawingCache() to get the screenshot of my application. I found that the screenshot didn't include the current wallpaper. Does anyone know the reason? Is there the method to get the screenshot which includes the current wallpaper without DDMS when I apply android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Wallpaper"?

Jun 10, 2010I took a short video with my Incredible. I can see it fine on the phone, but I want to transfer it to my computer at home. I have mounted the phone and SD card on my computer (macbook, if that matters), and can explore the various files, but the video does not show up in any of the "video" folders. On the phone, when I open the video folder, I see my video plus a video podcast, but when the drives are open on the desktop, I can only find the podcast video.

Jun 3, 2010I like to trim my songs I have with the stock music player. The only problem is that it seems like every time I turn my phone off, and then back on, the ringtones are gone. The full length songs are still they because they are on my sd card, but the trimmed version is gone and I have to recut it. Sep 22, 2010If I have to keep on posting anew just to get basic answers (such as where Android Linux stores anything), then so be it I will! I like to cherry-pick my icons when an installed theme leaves me with the same one for different functions, or I just think the stock ones look better. This is possible with my home screen app (Dxtop), but I need to know where to find them in the Android system. I actually prefer the stock icons over any available icon paks on the Market, as the 2.1+ set is much more concise and complete than what I see available there (you have the choice of separate icons for camera & camcorder, or messaging next to your voicemail, which are only available from the stock set). The problem is that DxTop can find only the installed icon paks, go to the Market to find more, or call up Astro so that I can search for icons in my system - it has no clue where my stock icons are. Cannot imagine why Android makes it so difficult to use it's default icons, but I want to use them as needed. Can they even be viewed where they are stored on an un-rooted phone? If not, where would they be seen if my phone was rooted?

Sep 5, 2010I'm looking for an app that will allow me to view photos stored on my computer. I can access the computers on my home network from my Incredible using Astro or ES File Explorer "LAN" and open various file formats such as .pdf, .doc, .xls fine on my Droid; however, I am unable to open and view any type of image files (.jpg, .bmp, .gif, etc.) unless they are stored on my SD card or in the Droid memory itself.
When I try to open a image file stored outside the Droid, nothing appears on the Droid screen. I have installed several "image viewer" apps, such as Astro and 3D Gallery, none of which seem to be able to open remotely stored files. When I "click" on an image file, I see "Loading Image", but all that appears is a black screen with left and right arrow scroll buttons -- no pictures. Any advice, other than to copy and paste image files to my SD card, which then allows me to open and view them? I did get the 2.2 update.

If some the same activity is waiting for some response from server or some data updation is going on and then press BACK, I want to wait on the same screen till the current task is completely processed and then move out to the previous activity.

Sep 24, 2010The clock/weather widget seems to no longer know my current location. All it says is literally "Current location". Prior to the 2.2 upgrade and even for a while after the upgrade it used to show the actual city or town I was in. May 18, 2010After going out of town this weekend where my Incredible switched my "current location" to where I was, upon returning home the Incredible still shows that I'm in the other location. I've tried updating and such. I've even tried rearranging the areas (towns/cities). I've tried to delete the towns/cities. It still says I'm in the other city and nothing changes in the "first place/home screen" after rearranging/deleting.

Sep 1, 2010i'm beginning to think that in 2.2, if you have a lower signal strength (such as i do in my house), it can't tell your location anymore. in my house, wiht 2.1, it always told me my town. now, with 2.2, it says, fro the most part with a lower signal, "current location." however, when i turn wifi on, it'll tell me my town right away, leading me to believe that since my wifi signal is great in my house, it's giving me the correct location.
