I had to reset my Gmail Password, but I can't figure out how to provide the update on the Incredible so my gmail can synch.
for some reason gmail was only syncing TO the phone. Changes i made werent showing up on web version, and emails i sent would just sit in outbox.I have 2 gmail accts.Removing 1 of the accts and adding it back, fixed the issue with that account. But its not letting me remove the main gmail acct.

I re setup my account through htc mail and active sync and its working great my only problem is that It wont let me delete my account from the gmail app.I'd prefer not to have mail flowing in through 2 apps. It's telling me I have to do a factory reset in order to delete it.Is there any way around this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had to factory reset my phone.
Now I want to make a new backup using Helum but the app keeps asking for the Desktop Backup Password. I thought that this one should be reset (i.e. deleted) after a factory reset but I can't set a new one.
Is there a way to reset this without doing another factory reset?
Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update. His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! [Android Central Forums] Thanks Fabrian, nice sleuthing!"

Also, what would happen if I just changed it from the web interface?
I have a 9 digit (all numbers) password, and I am absolutely positive I am entering it right on my phone, but it returns with message it is invalid.
I changed it to text, and it worked.
I changed it back to what I want, and it won't.
For a few real and a few imagined problems yesterday I went on-line and changed my gmail password. Then I tried to find on my X where to update the new password. After looking in what I thought was everywhere I called tech support and they said it was hard coded. I would need to "wipe" the phone and start fresh. Some words about lost data as well.
He suggested tring to get back to the original password which gmail allowed without resetting a few more times. After thinking about this though, there are more than a few good reasons to change passwords and this seems a bit on the dumb side to me.
Was he wrong or is the OS wrong to have this hard wired? Since Google runs this whole thing doesn't it seem like they should make it a tad more user friendly if that is the case?
I have 2 questions:
1) I have been using the gmail app that came with my hero, and was wondering,
is there anyway I can FORCE a password/login page?
I am a little iffy about someone else having the opportunity to view my personal email quite easily just by clicking the app.
2) I was playing around with the Mail app that came with my hero and logged in to my gmail, so now anytime I click on the mail widget,it immediately pulls up my gmail.
Is there anyway to dis-associate my gmail with the Mail app? I tried going under settings> applications> manage applications> Mail, but alas, I couldn't find a way to erase the info.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGF picked up LG Ally, verizon rep transferred her contacts from her previous phone to the Ally - all was fine. A day later she needed to change her gmail password, which she did - the phone complained about a sync error, asked for her new password and gmail sync worked again. (So far the same as my Inc). After changing the password, she noticed that on the Contacts tab, only one person, herself, is displayed. Looking in the call log and performing searches, we see that all of the previous contacts are, in fact, still stored in the phone somewhere. I have tried changing which groups of contacts sync with the phone, pretty much everything with the exception of a factory reset.

When I tried to remove (settings->accounts & sync) the gmail account that was used during the initial phone setup, it prompted this message -> Remove account. This account is required by some applications. You can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. I would like to change it to another gmail account. Is such a drastic move (reset to factory default) necessary? Any workaround?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my droid X for about 3 weeks now. I want to learn though, and i figure this is a good place to do it. I love my phone. but it confuses me. And Ive had some issues that Ive seen a lot of other people have had since i updated to froyo. My biggest issues are my gmail dosen't seem to be getting new emails to my phone, the text messages being all goofy, and I don't really like the way the screen will rotate to view the other landscape way. I've seen people talk about doing a factory reset. What exactly does that do? And will i lose my contacts and such? Also, what does it mean to root a phone? I looked around but couldn't seem to find any answers.
