Android :: Installing New Root CA Certificate From Application

Sep 14, 2010

My application redirects its users to a known domain (secure.gate2shop.com) that its root certificate doesn't exist on Android devices. Normal PC browsers have no problem accessing the site, but Android browser displays to the user that the certificate is untrusted. I don't want that behavior, not even once, so I'm looking for a way to install this certificate on the device from my app.

HTC Desire :: Installing CA Certificate For IPSec VPN

May 5, 2010

I am having trouble installing a CA certificate on my Desire which I need to get access to my company's IPSec VPN.I understand the proper way to do this is to pack user certificate, user key and CA certificate into a single PKCS12 file, put it on the SD card and use the built-in certificate installation tool to unpack and install the certificates.I have my user cert and key packed into a single PEM file and the CA in a separate CRT file. However, when installing the p12 file on the Desire from the SD card, it only installs the user cert and key, ignoring the CA certificate. Thus, I can't set up an IPSec VPN.I also tried putting the CA crt file on a web site and installing it using the browser, but the browser thinks is is a user certificate rather than a CA cert and installs it as such. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Did anyone even manage to get this to work? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I already mailed HTC support a few days ago, but didn't get an answer do far.

I rooted my phone with Unrevoked Forever and installed the Virtuous 2.2 ROM a while ago, anyway, I'm getting a notification about a system Update that wants to install Verizon Bloatware on my phone, so I was gonna install it then promptly delete the apps just to get rid of the notifications, but when I go to install, it counts down from 10 to restart, then does nothing. So the notifications keep coming up, no matter how many times I try it.

HTC Desire :: Possible To Root Without Installing A New ROM

Aug 10, 2010

If it is possible to have root on my current Desire ROM (T-Mobile branded 2.1 update1, Build 1.21.110.4 CL175581 release keys, bootloader 0.80) without having to wipe the phone and install another ROM?

The reason that I ask is that I have read a few reviews about Titanium Backup as that would back up all apps and settings and make my life a lot easier if I decide to debrand and install the stock 2.2 ROM as everything can be reinstalled in a 1 click process. Its the data (email accounts in k9 mail etc) that I am ideally needing saved as those are a pain in the arse to setup again. If root on the current rom cannot be done is there any other app that would save my data as I can save the apks using Astro.

HTC Incredible :: Installing First Custom ROM?

Oct 22, 2010

After a few weeks of being rooted, getting rid of bloatware, etc., I decided to give Virtuous 3.1 a try, and downloaded it to my SD card using ROM Manager. I backed up all data in apps that had their own backup utilities and made a Titanium backup and then a nandroid in clockworkmod. After reading a number of threads, I figured ROM Manager should be OK for installing Virtuous, so I selected "install from SD", navigated to the correct file, and checked the backup and wipe options (I already had a nandroid, but figured another backup couldn't hurt). Anyway, for about 10 minutes, all I saw was a mildly disgruntled-looking android figure and a triangle with an exclamation point, which from my reading isn't what is supposed to happen.

I finally pressed the power button and it went into ClockworkMod Recovery with the following message (below the menu):

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.5
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I used ClockworkMod Recovery to reboot, and everything seems normal, no data lost or anything - but what did I do wrong?

Here my two Android implementation:

I always geht the following Exception:

But the key is the same that I use for the "normal" java Client and for the import into firefox. So the key is valid. But it is signed by me... I don't want to sign it by a commercial Company like verisign.

Sign 2 APKs With Same Certificate

Aug 27, 2013

Reason is i have an apk which works as an installer. When the user installs and opens it, it prompts the user to install another apk (drm free) which was inside the installer apk. However, after signing and zipaligning both with APK Signer tool and Private keys i get this error when installing: an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed

basically, both the apk (installer) and apk (theme) have the same package name. When the apk (theme) is installed, it should overwrite the apk (installer).

I think both the installer apk and theme apk should have the same certificates in order to overwrite each other, but i don't know how.

HTC Incredible :: ROM Installing - Working With Kernels Necessary?

Oct 17, 2010

I've been comfortable with my rooted HTC Inc for a few weeks not but I'm considering the possibility of going to ROMs to tinker with my phone even more. Still, I have a list of things that must always work:

Camera/Camcorder
Phone: Goes without saying.
LauncherPro
WidgetLocker

I've already made a Nanadroid backup, I'm going to purchase Titanium Backup this week for a full backing up of apps and everything else. The music, movies and photos are going to be backed up on the laptop. I've heard many times that ROM Manager makes the process rather painless. Is that still the case? Does it wipe if all I have is a newly rooted phone with wireless tether installed? I've read the answers stating no, when it's upgrading from say 2.7 to 3.0.

But otherwise? Is it really as I've read? ROM Manager, choose and let it install? (This, I'm not entirely certain of from what I've read on the boards.) At the moment, I'm looking towards Virtuous. What swayed me was the possibility of the HTC 3.0 sense when it's more stable and the fact that everything else that I'm looking at, such as: Hulu, DSP Audio are part of the Rom Manager setup. The last question I have is, is there a necessity in working with kernels immediately or can I just use what it comes with for now?
