My Incredible is Ver. 2.1 and radio 1, what is the procedure for installing roms? Can I just install any 2.2 rom right away or do I need to find a 2.1 somewhere then upgrade? Sorry, I just don't understand and I've been reading up on this for a few days. I think I understand that the Incredible will release a 2.2 update soon, do I need to wait for that. In my adventures so far, I've been able to pretty much master backing up my phone as I've had to restore it several times now.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone and I'm not in the know with how to install roms, however most of the rom sites indicate how to install. Most of the roms I've visited recommend doing a data wipe and a cache wipe. Is this something I have to do every time I want to install a rom? I just did a factory reset for the 2.2 OTA and, quite frankly, it was a pain in the butt to get my phone back to how I had it.So, am I going to have to do a factory reset every time i want to try a rom?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been using the INC for about 2 months now and i really do like the phone. As all of you know, the battery sucks. I picked up the 1500 battery about the same time the 2.2 came out and the battery life dropped over the 2.1/stocker. I thought it may have been the battery so i used the stock 1300 for a while and it was TERRIBLE. To add to the issue, the battery takes longer to charge then it does die. And thats why i am posting this. Could someone give me a list of what i need to do while rooting my phone and installing custom roms? that will speed up charge time? Normally i wont ask for help like this but i have zero time to sit down and read about everything. Just looking for a simple fix to get me by for the next few months.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to know if there are any benefits of rooting without installing custom roms? Now i've seen many threads here listing many benefits but its not clear whether u get those extra features from the custom roms or just from being rooted. So i was to root my phone and then leave the stock rom on, what extra would i be able to do?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I'm wondering about the best way to backup apps and data before installing new roms since it usually involves a full system+data wipe. Right now I use Titanium Backup and then restore all user apps when I have the new Rom loaded. While this works pretty well, I still have to go back and change all my settings, set up my accounts, etc. Shouldn't there be some way to preserve this data? Also very frustrating is that I have to re add all my widgets in Launcherpro. Any way to get a real backup of that too? The process isn't too bad right now, but as more and more Roms come for the droid x, I'd rather not have to repeat the setup process every time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been messing around with rooting and installing custom roms then going stock messing with settings then going to another to see how I like it. In the past, after I flashed a stock .sbf file I would be prompted for the Froyo OTA update. I just did it again last night. I was wondering, can you flash your phone too many times where you start to cause problems? And, does Verizon keep a check on how many times you've downloaded an update? Or, is it just not popping up because FRG22D is out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony xperia S updated to the latest build of ICS with a 1 year warranty ( still there's about 7-8 months in it )
im eager to install custom roms on it , but problem is that i loose warranty if i unlock my bootloader and im a moderate/heavy user on the phone .
So my question is , should i go for it and unlock the bootloader ? because im still stuck with ICS while cyangenmod has Jelly bean for my phone ..
or should i keep the warranty and wait because something might happen to it ? ( still no word from sony on the update to its 7 months old phone ... )
I kept trying different roms after rooting on my HTC Explorer..

But now when i rooted and flash different roms, Currently using jaggy rom 4.1 my internal is only 13mb free.. i reversed mounted it and got my internal as 1gb but my original internal is just 13 mb left for me.. First it use to be around120mb... Any way in which i can get my internal again to normal...
I recently rooted my razr maxx and want to install roms on it. I was going to install matts razr utility 1.82, but from what I understand it only supports ics. I have jb so I figured id end up with a bricked maxx.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I'm asking is if I were to install a new ROM/THEME do i need to uninstall or delete the old one? Or do I just load right over it? Also what's the best app to use to "unbloat" uninstall unwanted apps?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know that our android phone has a specified amount of internal storage.part of it is for storing apk, datas etc.another part is for rom image and all all those stuff.what i want to know is when i am installing a new rom,is it actually overwriting the existing rom.or is it installed alongside it.cause my phone is getting slower each time i install a new custom rom in my htc hero.it has 600 mhz processor.but even angry birds lag in my phone but it works smooth on my nokia 5233 xpress music touch phone.both these games are are of similar size and have same graphics quality.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo PSX4Droid finally got released from the clutches of Google Market about an hour ago. Only problem now is I can't seem to get any roms to work. I set up a PSXROMS folder on my SD card, and my first d/l was Metal Gear Solid disc 1 and 2. I got them from here PSX ISO Download Section. So I downloaded the .rar, unzipped to get the .bin (says it's compatible), open the emulator, the emulator sees the files in the folder, I click it, it refreshes the rom screen. The emulator doesn't start. Am I doing something wrong? Wrong file type?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts. So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing. However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself. Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor those trying other roms I am wondering, Got around to rooting today and now its time to play. What i am interested in most is to retain most stock look as possible. However question is which rom has best battery life and Do any roms/radios help with signal reception?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, I installed a couple emulators, put some roms on my SD card (yes they are definitely on the SD card and not the onboard flash), ejected my devices from my PC, and disconnected my USB cable.
Now when I open up the emulators, they are not able to see any directories on the SD card.
It's almost as if the SD card is acting as if it's still mounted. Not sure what to do here...
Are Themes the same as ROMS? If they are, how so, and if they are not, how so.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have root access, have clockwork mod. i did a nandroid backup as well. now what is the next step? i downloaded rom manager and titanium backup(paid version) i thought i read somewhere about someone sayin that titanium has to be on the SD card or something for backing up the apps maybe same thing with rom manager? a little confused at this point im just a little bit lost here when it comes to flashing roms. i think i wanna flash capt jagers 1.6 rom but im not sure what else i have to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a search and couldn't find exactly what Im looking for. If there is a thread out there with this info, please let me know so we can remove this thread. I rooted my Incredible yesterday after a couple months of contemplating it (I know ) And I think I want to try Virtuous ROM. So say I go to Virtuous, but end up wanting to go back to how I have it now (stock, root, froyo). Is that going to be hard? Is that what the nandroid backup is for? Say I go to Virtuous, then decide I wanna try Cyanogen. Do I just flash the new one after doing a Nandroid, then if I dont like Cyanogen I can just open the backup and bam it's back to Virtuous? Nub questions I know, but Im skerred. Last night I installed the rotary lockscreen from Virtuous on my stock rooted rom and I really like it. If I decide I dont like it, how hard is it to change something as small as an addon, rather than the whole ROM?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI remember reading somewhere about some app that will find and install roms to your incredible. I just rooted and I havent messed with any roms yet. I basically just want wireless tether, and flash 10.1 for real. Im sorry if this is a noob questions, ive searched around and cannot find where I read that. I could be nuts tho too. I remember the moto droid had a app like this tho.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I am debating installing the current ShadowRom, but I read on their website that the new version is slated to come out sometime next week. I've never updated a ROM and don't have ROM manager premium, so I was wondering how easy it is to update a current ROM? Can you just flash over your current version or do you have to do a full wipe?
View 5 Replies View Relatedjust wondering wat the best roms are for the incredible. U can right ur opinions here and i want to see which roms i want to use :3
View 6 Replies View RelatedAlso if someone could explain to me how I can customize the phone, becaues right now minehas the stock background and format and I would like to make it look nice. Not sure how to do it though.
I would also like to know all this deal about rooting and whatnot. I read some stuff that mentioned rooting and kernels and stuff and I really don't know what it is. I would like to know and try it once I get comfortable. Also what are roms?
So I downloaded two different ROMs from incredible stuff. You know you want it. And I try to install them with Rom Manager by going to Install ROM form SD Card, selecting the zip. I downloaded, and then checking backup and wipe, but when my phone boots back up, nothing has changed. What is it that I'm doing wrong? I eventually rerooted and that solved my problems. I still have no idea what was wrong.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to flash a ROM for the first time but had a couple quick questions. After it is done will my contacts come back? What should I do before I flash a ROM? I already backed up my current rom (sense ui) with the ROM manager app. I have already backed up all my apps as well with titanium backup. I am good to go at this point? I want to try to MiUi rom that just came out.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI thought i searched to find the answer so forgive me if i missed something. My question is..... do any of these new roms use a better bluetooth (eclair?). I am still trying to get my BT keyboard to work and I was wondering if a new rom would be the solution. Let me know.
