May 1, 2010I emailed myself a song to make a rimgtone out of but I cannot figure out how to save it. The preview button shows up and I can play the song but no download option.

May 12, 2010When i get a gmail with an attachment i can see the little paper clip telling me that i have an attachment and it will even tell me the size of the attachment but i cannot download it. it is not a clickable link. if i go to gmail on my browser it will let me start to download it but it always says download failed this phone does not support this file. its just a document, is there an app that allows me to download attachments such as this? the file was .ics whatever that is. but it has happened with other file types.

Jul 4, 2010all the customization Android allows Google didn't create a Gmail App that makes it impossible to save attachments to your SD card/internal memory. I have tried searching around here and it seems the EVO folks are stuck as well. Would Google really stop us from doing something so essential? And I know you can in HTC Mail, but I have notification issues with HTC Mail that I can't deal with (like the notification sound continuing perpetually when a new email arrives).

May 14, 2010im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?

Oct 27, 2010i'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there

While messing around with a couple of new ROMs for my Incredible last night, I noticed the Gmail app doing some things I had never seen before up in the header. It now included a reply/reply to all/forward button in the header which made like instantly awesome. At first I had brushed it off as some new 2.2 Sense feature that HTC was including, but after seeing another post this morning on the same Gmail amazing-ness, I now get it, and have slapped myself 4 times for not realizing it sooner.
So yeah, we have a new version of Gmail, which seriously, is so amazing. From the shot above, you can see a couple of the new features listed out:
New header design makes it easier to reply or star messages.
Performance boost for most features.
Lots more cool stuff youll love.
Update: Apparently this has been included in ROMs for a while now, but now stock users can enjoy the tastiness too.
Works on every single on of my devices running Froyo including the DI, Droid X and original Droid. Yep, your device has to be running Android 2.2.

Nov 7, 2009Emailed myself an excel file. I have already installed Shead Spreet Pro (excel editor). After I opened up the email in gmail, I previewed the excel file (wouldn't/couldn't use Shead Spreet) but could not download it to the phone.
The more I use this phone the more I feel helpless using gmail.
You can't search all gmail accounts at once...etc...etc.

Jun 2, 2010I have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?

On my computer, I can see they are linked.I have my Yahoo account listed in Gmail on my laptop when I look at it.I can see all the Yahoo messages imported in my Gmail on my laptop.I also have my local cable provider email (Cox) linked to my Gmail which also shows on my laptop and it imports on both my laptop AND my Inc.I have a seperate Yahoo Icon on my phone and I can get my Yahoo emails on that just fine but I want to have all my emails linked and dumped into my Gmail so I don't have to go into different icons to get my mail.I heard you can do this, even called Verizon and he assured me you could, then wasn't sure, then said he didn't know but to get in touch with Google for this.

Sep 22, 2009I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?

May 11, 2010This is getting ridiculous this is my 2nd replacement incredible 1st one started having these problems when someone sends me a pic message it gets stuck at downloading but never does come through I've did some searches on this forum and m not the only one experiencing this and to beat it all its people with HTC phones like the eris,hero,and incredible so i don't think its a network problem its htc problem m getting so pissed off because mms messages is something i get daily and i cant download them i went through hard resets, *228 option 1 and 2 nothing helps so if anyone knows a fix for this please help or this pos is going back i never had these problems with my droid glad i didn't sell it yet but i really like everything about this phone except this and i really want to keep it if this gets fixed.
