I can't seem to download any files from my gmail on my phone. i can only "preview." can't seem to find a way to save an attachment.
i don't have problems downloading from my yahoo account.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen i get a gmail with an attachment i can see the little paper clip telling me that i have an attachment and it will even tell me the size of the attachment but i cannot download it. it is not a clickable link. if i go to gmail on my browser it will let me start to download it but it always says download failed this phone does not support this file. its just a document, is there an app that allows me to download attachments such as this? the file was .ics whatever that is. but it has happened with other file types.

Tried downloading a couple times through the stock browser and also i've tried downloading through dropbox but every time the download gets randomly interrupted sometime between when 20mb - 100mb is done. I am not getting any calls or texts or anything that would interrupt it - it seems like the phone is going to sleep in the middle of the download or something. The files I am trying to transfer are approx 200mb .MP4 files and .MP3 files. Anyone know how to fix this problem and/or know of an app that will let you download or transfer large files from my home computer or from HTTP through my web host? On my BB Storm I had to use opera browser to download large files so maybe a different browser would work?

I have tried searching around here and it seems the EVO folks are stuck as well. Would Google really stop us from doing something so essential? And I know you can in HTC Mail, but I have notification issues with HTC Mail that I can't deal with (like the notification sound continuing perpetually when a new email arrives).

Second question...I figured smartphones are smart. Can I download mp3 files from the internet to the phone itself? In more detail, I use zamzar for my music. I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.
im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis morning, I was on the phone when I realized I needed to refer to a gmail thread. So I put caller on speakerphone, hit the home button, went to gmail. I wasn't able to pull up an email thread from several days back that was in my inbox. I was getting a "no signal" "Retry" button.
I tested it again when I was on another call a bit later, and tried to pull up the same email, couldn't do it. Same error message. But oddly enough was able to pull up an email from just yesterday.
What I don't know is, is gmail having trouble because of how old the email is? Freak occurence?
