Jun 25, 2010why do my contacts disappear from the all category when added to my other categories like friends, vendors, family? it is driving me nuts.

HTC Incredible :: Google Disappearing Saved Contacts
Jul 16, 2010I've saved some contacts (from a text message and the other from a phone call), and linked them to my Google account. They'll stay for a day or two, then the contact will just disappear (not in phone or Gmail online). I've tried re-saving numerous times, same result. Then I decided to just enter them in my contacts in Gmail, and it worked for only one.

May 29, 2012I've noticed lately that contacts that I view or edit on my Droid Bionic start appearing as uncategorized in my Outlook 2010 account. It is becoming annoying having to re-categorize every contact that I view or edit on my phone.
It seems that interacting with these contacts removes their categories from the Outlook side of things. Any information on why this might be and how to stop it from happening?
My Outlook 365 account is synced to my phone via Corporate Sync. I just checked my Contact settings and it is storing new contacts in my corporate sync account, if this matters.
General :: Favorite Contacts Disappearing When Syncing To Google Contacts?
Oct 16, 2012My wife's phone - which is a ZTE Blade running 2.2 - is losing it's favorites in the contacts manager each time it syncs to Google Contacts.
I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.

Feb 25, 2010It looks like when ever I email someone via Gmail it adds them to my contacts. From reading around, it appears that there isn't a way to stop this unless you change your contacts not to sync with any of the Gmail groups. But if I do that, then none of my contacts sync with Gmail. Is there a way to stop Gmail from adding contacts when replying to emails?

I hear you saying, well in the UK nation code are usually 4 digits (sometimes 5). This makes reading the numbers really ANNOYING. Any know how to get rid of them - without having to go through every number?

May 8, 2010I rooted my phone to the latest ROM using the script in the stickied thread. My google contacts re-synced when the phone started, and all was fine. I then proceeded to make a few edits to my contacts. That's when I noticed that they were disappearing from my "people" list. I can still pull them up by typing the name on the dialer screen, and I can still send email to them, but they just don't show up on the list. This also happens with newly-created contacts. I've tried forcing a manual sync, rbooting, editing the contacts through gmail on my computer, and nothing has worked.

May 17, 2010I spent a fair while setting up my screens and finally got to putting in my contacts last nite. I entered my contacts manually one by one on the phone itself using the add contact on the people menu. This was all fine until i checked my phone this morning. All of the people I added to the contacts whose birthday i also added to there contact details have disappeared. It is only the people who i entered there birthday though, in otherwords all the important people. Have i done something daft (quite possible) or is this a glitch?

Jul 28, 2012I've got an HTC Desire HD that's been rooted and have tried out several ROMs, the last couple have been ICS. I would like to stay with an ICS ROM but there seems to be an issue with contacts. I sync my contacts (and calendar) with Outlook via MyPhoneExplorer, Google isn't in the running here. On GB all is fine and both contacts and calendar go into a 'phone' memory. With ICS this 'phone' memory has gone and you have to sync with your gmail account locally. With ICS the calendar is fine but if I reboot the phone (it gets switched off most nights) this causes all contacts to disappear. I usually use Contapps as my contacts app but the stock People app also shows the same behaviour. Tried all the settings I can think of, and SEARCHED the forums (and further afield) so far, but still the same.
In all cases I've set up my Google account but then turned off ALL synchronisation, as I want to keep things local to my phone and PC. The calendar works fine, it's just contacts. I've checked with my gmail account online and it does NOT have copies of my contacts or calendar so it would appear that 'not syncing' is not the issue as my phone's calendar keeps it's data intact.
Also, call history doesn't seem to get deleted either but you obviously just get the phone number in each entry, with no contact details.Using the stock People app to check (though other contact apps show the same lack of contacts!). I've tried 3 different ICS ROMs and at least two have shown the problem (the 3rd may have done but that was the first I installed and may not have checked). I've seen other comments both on xda and the wider interweb that indicate that I'm not the first to see this but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on the solution, if any. how Google changed contacts operations in ICS?
Oh, I know that I "could" sync with Google, but I don't want to. I know all the arguments for and against and I'm in the "against" camp on this one so comments along the 'just sync with Google' line aren't that useful. No disrespect to those that think differently ...

Mar 29, 2010Sometimes when I add a new person to contacts, multiple duplicate entries get created. I've seen 2 to 3 entries for a new contact, and this has happened roughly 3 times since I got my phone a month or so ago.What's up?

Aug 23, 2010So yesterday I flashed XTRSense4.0.6.1 to both mine and my wife's Eris. My phone has been running great with no problems whatsoever. This afternoon my wife calls me freaking out because her contacts have disappeared... all of them. She said they were all there this morning and all of a sudden they're just gone. I told her to go to Settings, Accounts/Sync, and to Sync Google but that didn't help. She rebooted her phone, synced again and still nothing. Finally I walked her through the process of rebooting into recovery mode, wiping cache, doing a factory reset, and finally a NAND restore which got her back to pre-XTRSense and all her contacts came back without issue. What could have caused this issue and what can I do to prevent future occurrences? I'd really like to flash XTRSense back to her phone because it seemed to fix her other issues but not if its going to cause more problems than it fixes.

May 10, 2010I've had my (generic) Desire for a few weeks now, and have a really nagging/annoying problem in that, where i've added contacts (on the phone memory) and then synced with facebook, it's pulling in their mobile phone number from facebook, but is defaulting to 447584... and will not let me call the contact without first editing the number to read 07584...
The only way around this so far as i can tell, is to manually add the number again as a 'Home' number but with a 0 in place of 44, as re-adding as a mobile just defaults back to the 447584... and then assigning the 'Home' number as the primary contact number. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or something i've done myself, and also whether there is a way i can update my whole phonebook to change the 44's for 0's rather than manually going through and changing them?

Nov 16, 2010Anytime I add a contact detail via the handset if I let it sync, either via Google or SE, the contact will be wiped which is pretty useless (basically I cannot add new contacts on the handset, preposterous!). I contacted SE help, they recommended I use the software update program to update the handset software. I have done this but the update software tells me the handset is running the latest software, the problem persists.

I add a new contact on my phone as following code...
After that, I add phone numbers in the same way. It works as I am able to view the new added contact with following code :

My problem is that, after adding and viewing the new contact, I can't see it in Contacts application unless I synchronized all my contacts (I also did a search with the contact's name, found it, nevertheless it wasn't added in contacts list).
How can I programmatically update the contacts in order to immediately have my new contact added in Contacts application?

May 13, 2012I used to use two Gmail accounts and had both sync the information, with exception to one's contact list since it was empty. However, I've noticed that my contacts, after awhile, disappear from my phone.
At first, they had disappeared from my Google Contacts as well, but a simple restore fixed that and now they are still there (this was around the time Google started to move info to Google+). Now, the contacts disappear from my phone, leaving me with it saying "No contacts", until I reboot my phone again (where it all loads back in again).
I use WhatsApp, ChatOn, Skype, Google+, and Facebook apps.

Jul 13, 2010I have just purchased the X10 this week and its all up to date with software however I am having major issues with phonebook. Whenever I try and add contacts to my favorites in phonebook they only stay there for a few seconds before they vanish. When viewing call log if I try and save a number by adding a contact again this will do it for only a few seconds and then just delete the contact.
Facebook links on the contacts aren't coming through and painfully slow to link all the address book up. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I have downloaded a different version of phonebook but I didn't think it looked as good as the default and want to make the normal one work.
HTC Droid Eris : Contacts Added With Recent Calls But Not Saving To People
Mar 3, 2010I recently switched gmail accounts. I was able to reconfigure the stock mail app fine. The gmail app took some persuasion but eventually cooperated. The only problem is now all my contacts that were saved in my old gmail acct need to be transferred to my new one. Not a big deal (only have 10 because I lost my phone, reason why I have an Eris). However, my brother called. Since I lost him from my contacts, I used the recent calls window to add him. Hit Save. If I go to People, he isnt there. Retried it 3 times. I figure I can just re add him through gmail on my PC and sync it, but that's inconvenient and I wanna know: why isn't this working?

May 4, 2010I want to know if anyone is experiencing the same issue and if they have any fixes. I lost all of my text messages three times since getting the phone last Wednesday. The first time, someone was trying to send me an MMS. It didn't go through, and caused a Force Close (for which you have no choice but to select OK). After the error, all my previous text messages were gone. I immediately installed SMS Backup and SMS Backup and Restore. I like that SMS Backup is almost instantaneous back-up (to your Google account), but you cannot restore the messages to the phone. SMS Backup and Restore will back up your messages to your SDcard and restore, but it only runs at a pre-selected time (unless you manually sync before the selected time). Twice after the first error, I've been in the middle of texting and received the Force Close due to "Message Download Failure"; and after both times I lost all messages again. I was able to restore the older messages, but not the ones sent and received after the backup schedule. The only thing I've done is used SWYPE instead of the stock keyboard. But this seems like a network error.

May 14, 2010I have my email, calendar, and contacts set up through activesync exchange. So when you add someone from your phone, it gets pushed to your outlook as well as vice versa.
I've been adding this one contact on my phone for the last few times, and after few days his contact simply disappears.
I've tried adding his contact both on the phone as well as on Outlook, and when he calls, his name would show, but after few days, it stops showing the name but just the number, and when i go back to my contact, he's no longer listed there.
