Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Numbers Disappearing From Phonebook
Nov 9, 2010I have had a problem for last couple of weeks - When I got the phone (around 2 months ago), I created all my main contacts, added their names, numbers and email addresses. So, at least a month goes by, but then one or two contacts start losing their phone numbers (the name and email address remains). I have tried everything from simply entering and saving the number again via the phone book and even adding the number from text messages sent by the person in question - each time I have ensured that I have clicked 'done' and/or the save symbol. I exit the phone book, but if I check back later it's been lost again. This seems to happen with only one or two particular contacts - I am not sure what is unique about them. Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I have read the manual re: phone book, so I am following all of the steps so I am not sure whether or not the phone has a fault.

Sep 20, 2010I have two groups of contacts "MyContacts" and "Utilities". When I set up synching I selected to copy "All contacts".
Unfortunatey, when I look what's on my area on sonyericsson.com/wportal I see only the contacts from the group "MyContacts".
I.e. the site creates a false feeling of security - if I need to restore my phone from this site I will irrecovarebly lose lots of data.
I don't know is SE forgot to test their function or Android-hackers don't understand the features of the contacts.
All area of handling the contacts stinks seriously, and mkes you wander if the Android people ever used a mobile phone :
1. X10 does not accept contacts sent via SMS (VCARD-format), (or via MMS or bluetooth)
2. X10 does not sync with Outlook where most of business people have their contacts, and maintain them when receiving corporate mails etc.
3. The only way to get the contacts is to export from PC to a csv-file and import to gmail, and then sync to the phone. This is not that flexible due the export via csv. I.e. If I create cntacts in the phone they will not reach Outlook.

Aug 20, 2010Just received my phone yesterday and had a problem getting the SIM contacts from my old W910i phone to the Xperia x10. Followed the instructions to the letter, then called up Orange and they tried a few ways to get them over, went to the shop this morning to try and sort it out but after over an hour it was to no avail. The young chap in the store said that it must be based on the database setup - they must be incompatible.
So I now have to manually input my old contacts on the new phone when I encountered another problem - whilst inputting a contact detail, I pressed something on the bottom left of the keyboard and suddenly I am faced with Korean language. I went to Settings and set the language to English UK and went back to the contact I was editing, but still faced with a Korean keyboard.

Aug 24, 2010i recently purchaed my SE x10 mini pro, and im relatively happy with it, although there are a few simle functions missing. i know how to import your sim contacts onto your phone, however is there a way to export contacts onto your sim? so that each time i add a new contact i'd save it onto the sim rather than the phone?

Aug 5, 2010I am having problems with my contacts showing up on my Black Xperia X10i. I made sure I saved all 170 contacts to my AT&T sim card before I put it in the phone. Nov 1, 2010I installed android 2.1 today but for some reason I can't restore my contacts.I followed the instructions on the sony ericsson webpage and used the SE backup software to make a backup of my contacts, mms, photos etc. When I restored everything after the update everything was restored except my contacts. How can I get my contacts back? Is there some way to extract them manually from the backup file or something? The backup software can't seem to restore them for me.

Sep 11, 2010My Xperia X10 has developed several faults and has to go back to SE for repair / replacement. In the meantime I plan to use my old SE C902 as a backup. I need to transfer all my contacts from the X10 to the C902. So far I've tried. copying all my contacts to the SIM card then putting the card in the C902. The c902 then promptly declares "List Empty" copying all my contacts to the memory card. Unfortunately the X10 and C902 use different memory cards. sending all contacts via bluetooth using "Bluetooth File Transfer" downloaded from the market place. The result of this is "unable to send file"
backing up the contacts from the X10 to my laptop and then restoring them to my C902. Unfortunately the two phones use different versions of PC Suite and neither recognises the other. I don't want to spend a week or two without access to my contacts, and short of sitting down with an old fashioned paper and pen and scrawling them all down before I send it in for repair I'm at a loss what to do!

Sep 29, 2010I have used SE handsets for over 15 years now and never felt the need to seek assistance until now. The x10 mini is driving me mad. I have just upgraded to it on orange. Where has all the functionality for using it as a phone gone? I was extremely embrassed when I was trying to send details of a contact from my address book to my friends HTC handset and failed. No bluetooth file transfer and no ability to send contacts via sms. This so much functionality missing from basic functions: speed dialing from the number pad for example, that I am seriously thinking about giving it back to orange. There are lots of new functions and apps such as WiFi and GPS, maps etc but there is not enough battery life to make them useful in real life situations. I found the old UI on W890i much more polished with lovely touchs on the media player and photo albums. Is android all it is cracked to be?

Sep 2, 2010I put all my contacts on my phone from my sim card, great no problems, then opened a gmail acount which was usefull for editing and adding email addresses to the contacts. But I now have a problem where, if I add a new contact to my phone, say a name and mobile number, it will soon disapear when the phone synchronises with gmail. The only way I have found to add new contacts on the phone is to put them in gmail first on my lap top. I know It is possible the stop synchronisning but surely gmail shouldnt take contacts off my phone?

Nov 14, 2010I updated my phone to the new firmware version. Followed all steps including backing up all my phone entries (logs/messages/contacts etc...) and went through the update with flying colors. The new update is amazing but for some reason after recovering all of my (previously saved) things, I found out I'm missing more than half of my contacts!
Anyone know what's going on? I can find my whole phone book through my text messaging application when searching for a name but if I go into my actual phone book I have like the last 6 entries that I added only... I've tried importing from sim/sd card nothing works...
