I've saved some contacts (from a text message and the other from a phone call), and linked them to my Google account. They'll stay for a day or two, then the contact will just disappear (not in phone or Gmail online). I've tried re-saving numerous times, same result. Then I decided to just enter them in my contacts in Gmail, and it worked for only one.

I recently had my DI replaced due to a tech issue, but before I switched over I backed up everything using "My Backup Pro".
When it backed up my contacts, it backed up EVERYONE - including 550+ people I follow in Twitter. I did not have these as visible in my People (phonebook) list, just in Twitter. When I synced with my new DI, My Backup Pro installed every contact to my People list, as the app must have thought it was all part of my phonebook. I tried to make the list invisible like I had it on my original phone, but that did not work, so I deleted each Twitter contact manually from my People list. They no longer show in my People list (though are available to be made visible from Twitter).
This did not solve the problem. Any app that accesses my contact list (even Search People) displays the FULL list which includes my Twitter contacts. There is no long-press or menu options available to hide them.
I am willing to clear my contacts and upload the list again, as they are all backed up to my Google account, but I am afraid it would sync with the server and delete what is saved there.
Any advice on how to clear my contact list of my Twitter followers, or start over with my Google-saved contacts?
My wife's phone - which is a ZTE Blade running 2.2 - is losing it's favorites in the contacts manager each time it syncs to Google Contacts.
I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.
Please, I need advice on how to get phone numbers saved on the phone up when forwarding received SMS or MMS! At the moment, I can only forward messages to contacts saved on Sim card!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to use two Gmail accounts and had both sync the information, with exception to one's contact list since it was empty. However, I've noticed that my contacts, after awhile, disappear from my phone.
At first, they had disappeared from my Google Contacts as well, but a simple restore fixed that and now they are still there (this was around the time Google started to move info to Google+). Now, the contacts disappear from my phone, leaving me with it saying "No contacts", until I reboot my phone again (where it all loads back in again).
I use WhatsApp, ChatOn, Skype, Google+, and Facebook apps.
why do my contacts disappear from the all category when added to my other categories like friends, vendors, family? it is driving me nuts.

I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThree times in the last week contact info has disappeared from my google contacts/phone (Incredible). Twice, with different contacts, the home phone numbers just disappeared from both the phone and my google account. Last Saturday I entered a completely new contact info for a friend (incl. a picture) and on Sunday the contact was gone both from my phone and my google account. I always enter this information on my computer via google contacts and then it does get successfully synced to my Incredible and is available for a while.
When the contact disappears it's gone both from my phone and my google account info, it doesn't show in "all contacts" either - it's gone for good. I have created a groupd called "New Friends" where these contacts were placed. I belive they are still also automatically part of "My Contacts". It's been easy to notice the disappearance since I only have a few contacts in this "New Friends" group. I worry about this happening, esp if it's not easy to notice. I've seen other threads with this type of problem over the years when I searched, but there doesn't seem to be a solution for this rather serious problem.

Only a fraction of my contacts are 'google' contacts - a lot are backed up through verizon or are stored on the phone. How can I make all my contacts 'google' contacts, so that when I boot up in a non-sense rom, I can get all my contacts back simply by linking my phone with google?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone to the latest ROM using the script in the stickied thread. My google contacts re-synced when the phone started, and all was fine. I then proceeded to make a few edits to my contacts. That's when I noticed that they were disappearing from my "people" list. I can still pull them up by typing the name on the dialer screen, and I can still send email to them, but they just don't show up on the list. This also happens with newly-created contacts. I've tried forcing a manual sync, rbooting, editing the contacts through gmail on my computer, and nothing has worked.

I entered my contacts manually one by one on the phone itself using the add contact on the people menu. This was all fine until i checked my phone this morning. All of the people I added to the contacts whose birthday i also added to there contact details have disappeared. It is only the people who i entered there birthday though, in otherwords all the important people. Have i done something daft (quite possible) or is this a glitch?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an HTC Desire HD that's been rooted and have tried out several ROMs, the last couple have been ICS. I would like to stay with an ICS ROM but there seems to be an issue with contacts. I sync my contacts (and calendar) with Outlook via MyPhoneExplorer, Google isn't in the running here. On GB all is fine and both contacts and calendar go into a 'phone' memory. With ICS this 'phone' memory has gone and you have to sync with your gmail account locally. With ICS the calendar is fine but if I reboot the phone (it gets switched off most nights) this causes all contacts to disappear. I usually use Contapps as my contacts app but the stock People app also shows the same behaviour. Tried all the settings I can think of, and SEARCHED the forums (and further afield) so far, but still the same.
In all cases I've set up my Google account but then turned off ALL synchronisation, as I want to keep things local to my phone and PC. The calendar works fine, it's just contacts. I've checked with my gmail account online and it does NOT have copies of my contacts or calendar so it would appear that 'not syncing' is not the issue as my phone's calendar keeps it's data intact.
Also, call history doesn't seem to get deleted either but you obviously just get the phone number in each entry, with no contact details.Using the stock People app to check (though other contact apps show the same lack of contacts!). I've tried 3 different ICS ROMs and at least two have shown the problem (the 3rd may have done but that was the first I installed and may not have checked). I've seen other comments both on xda and the wider interweb that indicate that I'm not the first to see this but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on the solution, if any. how Google changed contacts operations in ICS?
Oh, I know that I "could" sync with Google, but I don't want to. I know all the arguments for and against and I'm in the "against" camp on this one so comments along the 'just sync with Google' line aren't that useful. No disrespect to those that think differently ...
1. I have several contacts saved but they are not listed under contacts. Their name comes up when they call and i can access contact information, name, birthday, number, email etc. from call or text logs. But they are not displayed when i go to contacts from the contacts icon itself.
2. When i go to make a call, i can scroll down to recent calls and then the list automatically turns to my contacts. I have a friend from FB that automatically synced their name / number and listed like 30 times but i can not delete it. Its not listed under my contacts to delete either, just when i scroll down from access the main call button. I even deleted them as a FB friend but they won't go away. How can i correct these?

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I flashed XTRSense4.0.6.1 to both mine and my wife's Eris. My phone has been running great with no problems whatsoever. This afternoon my wife calls me freaking out because her contacts have disappeared... all of them. She said they were all there this morning and all of a sudden they're just gone. I told her to go to Settings, Accounts/Sync, and to Sync Google but that didn't help. She rebooted her phone, synced again and still nothing. Finally I walked her through the process of rebooting into recovery mode, wiping cache, doing a factory reset, and finally a NAND restore which got her back to pre-XTRSense and all her contacts came back without issue. What could have caused this issue and what can I do to prevent future occurrences? I'd really like to flash XTRSense back to her phone because it seemed to fix her other issues but not if its going to cause more problems than it fixes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI came from a Palm Centro soooooo no way to easily sync Palm contacts with the EVO. I converted an export to iCal, coverted the iCal to another file type, uploaded to gmail and ALL MY CONTACTS ARE THERE...NO PROBLEMS!!! I see the contacts in my gmail account online; I see my contact in my "People" app on the EVO. I have a list of contacts that are ONLY email addresses...there are 28 of them. Online in gmail I see them; on the phone I see them when I scroll through the People app. I even put them in a group named "Emails" and see that group with NO PROBLEM online and on the phone.
For EASE OF FINDING THE CONTACTS, I designated all these email-only contacts with the letter "X" in front of the name. For example, to send an email to myself, the contact is "XScott"...to send an email to my father it is "XDad"...that way all I have to do to address an email is type "X" and up should pop allllllllll 28 of my "X-Email" names from gmail and the People app. That SHOULD happen...now here's the problem... FOR SOME REASON, when I launch the Mail app and start typing "X..." in the "To" field NOT ALL OF MY EMAIL CONTACTS SHOW UP!! Specifically, ONLY EIGHT out of TWENTY-EIGHT appear as options to click for addressing my email!...................
I left the company where I've worked for 7 years. I have all my personal contacts synced to my former company's Exchange account. That account has since been locked, but my Galaxy SIII still retains all the contacts.
How do I move these Exchange account contacts to a specific contact list in Gmail (or another account)? When I try to do a backup of the phone, I can't find any backup program that lets me backup just my Exchange contacts.. instead. it tries to backup the 3,000 gmail "other" contacts as well, which is just a huge mess and what I don't want to retain or backup. I just want the Exchange contacts backed up.
i also have the contacts synced on my ipad, so if u know of an IOS way to do this, I can do it on there.
By default, when I add contacts, they will save to 'Exchange' instead of my phone. How do I change this so that I don't have to switch to Phone everytime I add a contact. If I forget to switch to it Phone, which I have done twice now, I can't seem to find a way to switch those contacts to Phone - How do I do this?
