It looks like when ever I email someone via Gmail it adds them to my contacts. From reading around, it appears that there isn't a way to stop this unless you change your contacts not to sync with any of the Gmail groups. But if I do that, then none of my contacts sync with Gmail. Is there a way to stop Gmail from adding contacts when replying to emails?

Every time I send an e-mail whether on my Hero or just regular Gmail on my computer, that e-mail address gets added to my contact list.This is very frustrating as I just went through and deleted about 150 different email addresses I don't need including about 75-100 craigslist ads.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my (generic) Desire for a few weeks now, and have a really nagging/annoying problem in that, where i've added contacts (on the phone memory) and then synced with facebook, it's pulling in their mobile phone number from facebook, but is defaulting to 447584... and will not let me call the contact without first editing the number to read 07584...
The only way around this so far as i can tell, is to manually add the number again as a 'Home' number but with a 0 in place of 44, as re-adding as a mobile just defaults back to the 447584... and then assigning the 'Home' number as the primary contact number. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or something i've done myself, and also whether there is a way i can update my whole phonebook to change the 44's for 0's rather than manually going through and changing them?
Anytime I add a contact detail via the handset if I let it sync, either via Google or SE, the contact will be wiped which is pretty useless (basically I cannot add new contacts on the handset, preposterous!). I contacted SE help, they recommended I use the software update program to update the handset software. I have done this but the update software tells me the handset is running the latest software, the problem persists.

I add a new contact on my phone as following code...
After that, I add phone numbers in the same way. It works as I am able to view the new added contact with following code :

My problem is that, after adding and viewing the new contact, I can't see it in Contacts application unless I synchronized all my contacts (I also did a search with the contact's name, found it, nevertheless it wasn't added in contacts list).
How can I programmatically update the contacts in order to immediately have my new contact added in Contacts application?
I tried to use the "links" feature within Contacts. Now, some are missing completely. Others have wrong details. Others have details borrowed from something in a "linked" detail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the X10 this week and its all up to date with software however I am having major issues with phonebook. Whenever I try and add contacts to my favorites in phonebook they only stay there for a few seconds before they vanish. When viewing call log if I try and save a number by adding a contact again this will do it for only a few seconds and then just delete the contact.
Facebook links on the contacts aren't coming through and painfully slow to link all the address book up. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I have downloaded a different version of phonebook but I didn't think it looked as good as the default and want to make the normal one work.
I recently switched gmail accounts. I was able to reconfigure the stock mail app fine. The gmail app took some persuasion but eventually cooperated. The only problem is now all my contacts that were saved in my old gmail acct need to be transferred to my new one. Not a big deal (only have 10 because I lost my phone, reason why I have an Eris). However, my brother called. Since I lost him from my contacts, I used the recent calls window to add him. Hit Save. If I go to People, he isnt there. Retried it 3 times. I figure I can just re add him through gmail on my PC and sync it, but that's inconvenient and I wanna know: why isn't this working?

I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.

With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?

It said some applications failed to download. The only app I downloaded so far was Google Earth. Now every now and then it keeps feeding me with these notifications... I've installed an app killer to shut down the Android Market, but after a while it turns back on by itself.

Anyway, ever since I transitioned to the replacement unit I've been noticing some strange behavior in my Gmail accounts, namely the fact that all my new email messages are being automatically marked as read. Now to my issue: I like to watch video streams. The problem is, that the display will turn automatically off.
Solutions:
1. Play a stream with a video player - how can I do this?
2. Change settings so the display will not switch off on a stream, but will turn off when idle - is this even possible?
3. Turn off "turn off display when idle" setting - but I don't like this one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have come to the droid from treo/winmo/bb. On each of those platforms, they had a program that would sync contacts, calendar, todo, and memo from outlook. You plugged your phone in via usb, it would be detected, and voila, you would sync.I knew when I purchased the droid this couldn't be done natively. I have been able to get my calendar to sync with the google calendar sync app that so far runs fairly well. It syncs my outlook calendar to my gmail calendar.However, I want to sync my outlook contacts. Note, I did not say I want to IMPORT/EXPORT. I do know how to do that, and that is not syncing.
I want changes I make on my contacts on my phone to show up in outlook and viceversa. BTW, I am running pop, not exchange.It doesn't have to be direct connect, it can be through the cloud.The only thing I have found so far is soocial.com . I don't know how this works, and I am looking to see if anyone has found an acceptable solution to this issue so far. 'The missing sync' is supposed to release something at the end of the month to address this, but their solution is $40 and I don't know how well it will work as a 1st release.
