I have a new Droid Incredible (upgraded from Eris ) but I cannot connect to an ad-hoc network I have setup. With wi-fi turned on, I scan for networks and nothing shows up. I even manually entered the network name and no security (which is how it's setup right now) and it still does not connect.

I have had no problems in the last 6 months connecting my evo to my uverse router until yesterday. I went out of town for the weekend and ever since I have returned my phone will not connect to my router.I have "forgotten" the network and re-entered the password but that didn't fix the problem either.It just says "obtaining IP address".

The EVO 4g says it is connected to my network OK, but the phone doesn't appear as a device or drive anywhere on the network where I can see it. USB connection works OK.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.
Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).
We have multiple Android phones, including my Incredible, in our house on our wireless network. Is there a way to assign a name to each phone so that they are identified on the router like computers and other devices are? Currently the Android phones just show up as "unknown" device. The Wi-Fi is secured with 128-bit encryption, so I'm not concerned with the neighbors connecting, but it would be nice to be able to see which phones are on the network at any one time.

I got my DINC rooted last night and got wireless tether working on my computer and my iTouch, so today I went to my sisters house she has a stock DINC, I turned on my wireless tether, turned on her WiFi, it does not find anything but her home WiFi. I tried to manually input my SSID and still nothing.

But devices are connected to the tablet using wired USB hub, then USB2Serial converter (FTDI or Prolific) and then device. I'm talking with them sending/receiving simple bytes to/from virtual port in Android. It works great.
But now I'm thinking about making such solution more mobile. I would like to have wireless USB hub, and tablet without any wires.

Unfortunately, none of them have Android support.
I think, there should be a special driver for receiving wireless data and connecting such data to the virtual port in Android.
Theres a uncured network outside my house and whenever I leave for a while and come back my evo automatically connects to it even though I always click it and press forget than manually connect to mine again but whenever I leave and come back I have to do it all over again. What can I do to avoid this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedBeen running with my Droid now for 3 weeks and I'm finally going to start playing with running wifi at work (my cube and only my cube I have 3g issues ) and I connected to it a couple days ago. Our network admin in his infinite wisdom created a pass key that is like 46 characters long. So I entered it, and was connected. Fast forward to today, I enabled wifi again and tried connecting to the network and it asked me for the pass key again. Does it now save that? Is it supposed to? I would assume that would be a pretty big PITA that every time I want to connect to wireless network that I've connected to before it re-asks me my password.
