View 1 RepliesI'm bout to root, and wanna run a Hydra kernel, but I wanna know if the recent OTA could mess with the way the kernels work. More specifically the fact that the OTA brought 802.11N with it, yet the kernel has the option for it. Should I not use the Hydra with N? Just want to make sure having the OTA won't mess with any functionality of a custom kernel.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi was wondering about the hydra kernals. I installed the latest overvolt hydra kernal. My question is when you go into idle, does it underclock for you? Or do you have to install undervolt to do that? Also can you install both overvolt and undervolt at the same time? (not literally at the same time but have both kernals at once to get the most power and battery saving?)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rooted today (unrevoked 3 + forever) and I did a nandroid backup (thank god) and titanium backup. I tried to flash the undervolt (0.5) and overclocked (0.1, #1) hydra kernals on the phone but it gets stuck at the boot up screens. Am I doing something wrong? I put the zip on the root of my SD card and used Clockwork to flash the zip file. Should I just upload the HTC .32 kernal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Hydra Kernel overclocking rom #1 (Hydra Kernels - Overclocked Kernels) But I keep getting this error when installing. The error is as follows
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verficiation failed
Installation aborted.
Currently running Frankenrom Senseless
Hydra Kernel Stock Undervolt
Radio 2.15.00.07.28
I tried installing all four but no luck, kept getting the same error.
Alright, I installed JagerRom 3.2 and I love it. Only problem I have is that there is no gmail app and I don't like the k-9 mail app. Is there any way to get the gmail app back Also, with a custom rom can I still install a hydra kernel? because the undervolted kernel would be nice to install.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2.1 stock and I don't really want to clear everything for 2.2 (can I upgrade like an OTA to 2.2?) so I want to install a hydra kernal for better battery life. The 2.15 radio update wouldnt stick on my phone for some reason, and 0.5 or 1.0 hydra kernals won't work with 1.0 radio. Is there a hydra version that will?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am sure its not to complicated but still I would like to be filled.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI wanted to explore some of the different kernals in rom manager. LV vs MV, etc. Can I just install them on top of what I have? Do I have to remove a previous kernal some how, or just try them all out?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a mirror site or somewhere else I can get them?

View 49 Replies View Relatedlast week i installed the leaked OTA and i really like it so i decided to stick with it. I have been debating for a while whether or not to root. Well today i finally took the plunge and had zero issues. Then i decided to install the 1.15 ghz OC Hydra Kernel and it is awesome, makes the phone really snappy. I havent seen any lag at all. Well the only issue i have found is my camera wont work. I open it and it is just a black screen. At first i do have my normal options, i can choose everything on the left slider and the zoom, flash buttons. Also i noticed the brightness gets turned up. But its like there is a lens cap on it. It does not display anything the lens is seeing. I tried rebooting and it still did the same thing. Is this possibly becuase i installed the leaked OTA first and the Kernel is not compatible? Has anyone else seen this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to tell that my phone is actually running at the 1.15 overclock? Also how could I tell that it is under clocked when idle? I just want to make sure things are working smoothly.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted Stock 2.1 Dinc. Went to use the hydra kernel #1 and it put me into a boot loop. I am restoring my phone from backup so not a big deal but does anyone know why this may have occurred? I don't really need the overclock just thought I'd try it.
View 8 Replies View Relatedflashed a new rom using rom manager. i thought i remembered seeing options to download from a list of kernals?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have not really noticed any real improvement in battery life using the undervolted hydra kernel. Am I doing something wrong, or has anybody else noticed this?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI want to run the Undervolt version to save battery (Even tho I got a 1750) annnnd I was wondering if I had to delete Memory and Cache like when installing a Rom.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently having an issue where my browser shuts down when I open certain websites. In particular. androidforums.com. The strange thing is it doesn't force close. The screen just goes black momentarily, then I'm back at my home screen. It's happening on all browsers, so it's not an application issue. I've never had this issue before, and I recently installed Hydra Kernel #3 (UV/OV 1.15 w/ N). Is this something other people are experiencing in conjunction with a hydra kernel? If not, do any of you guys know what could be causing this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedFlashing kernals is new to me although general rooting is not. Apparently with my new Inc I have the slcd which will only work with a few kernals. What I had to do to get some new ROMs working was flash the ROM, then flash a specific kernal before booting up. That worked and I was able to flash some ROMs that I was not previously able to use. It has come to my attention that there are some kernals out there that are better for battery life so my questions are:
1) If I want to flash a new kernal over my existing ROM can I just do that? Boot into recovery and flash the new kernal? (After a nandroid of course.) Or do I have to flash the ROM again, then flash the new kernal and then boot up? Do I need to wipe anything before flashing a new kernal?
2) What are the best kernals for battery life that work with the slcd screen?
I rooted my Droid incredible 2 days ago so bare with me as I am still trying to understand all this new terminology and get the fullest use out of my phone. I was wondering about Kernals, overclocking and underclocking. I would like to increase my battery life as we all know how crappy it can be under normal use. I am running Skyraider 3.3 now because I enjoy the stock look of the HTC sense and I am using ADW.launcher as well. I downloaded a kernal for Skyraider but I can't tell what the speeds are and change them up. I saw a program called setcpu for rooted users on the market. Anyone have any experience with this app and is it worth the money? I am not wanting to slow down the performance of my phone but I still want to be able to have a good battery life. Anyone have any suggestions for a kernal to use or anyone using setcpu have a suggestions for a good speed to use.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI ask for some clarification on ROMs, radios, bootloaders and kernals.I am currently running a rooted stock incredible. I want to try CM6, the 2.2 leak, and the 2.2 lite or Sky Raider. I know there are issues with having the right radio and kernal with all these. If I understand it right, the stock kernal will work with all of them. If I wan't to try another kernal I would be limited to kernals made to get along with those specific roms. Is this correct?I have the 1.x radio right now, which will work with CM6 right? If I go to the 2.2 leak it will upgrade it to 2.x, which will work with 2.2 lite or Sky Raider. However I am I right in thinking to go back to CM6 or stock from 2.2 leak I will have to downgrade the radio? Also, I will have to downgrade the bootloader as well?Whew, this is all so confusing.
View 10 Replies View Relatedlast night I got tired of waiting for the 2.2 update so I installed unrevoked forever, 2.15 radio and the third wave rom from adrenyline. After all that went smoothly I decided to throw the standard clock undervolt hydra kernel in there too. After I did that I got sporadic reboots and the screen became very unresponsive. Also it seems to cause the phone to freeze whenever it has to wake up to play a notification sound or alarm...
Now I have to say that I had the same problem about a month ago when I tried one of the older Hydra Kernels, but I figured it would be fixed with the newer ones. My question is it seems that I am the only one with problems, all the posts I read about these things are positive with little or no issues. Am I installing it incorrectly somehow? Is anyone else having issues too?
So the other day I went to download an app out of the market. The download finished, but it seems my phone decided to auto-reboot itself in the midst of the installation. After the reboot completes, I go back to the market, reselect the app, and it's hung at "Installing..." (And when I say "hung," the market is still fully functional except that one app). I'm given no option to cancel the installation. Killing the market app then trying to go back in has no effect - same deal. Hung on install. Another reboot didn't help.
Is there any way to delete the install package and make the market forget I even tried in the first place?
It's Angry Birds (wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but the install seems to have failed in a way that any app install could have failed.
Can someone explain to me what a kernal is? and how do you flash things, like this kernal? ([WIP] [7/7] Higher framerate on Novatek panels | Kernel inside | Now for Froyo! - xda-developers) and does anyone know if Fresh 1.0.1 disables preflocks? and if it does, whats the downside of "flashing" fresh 1.0.1?
View 4 Replies View Relatedok so i get that everyone's phone reacts differently to different kernals. but what i'd like to know is what if i got a kernal that yields great results as far as performance, but drains the battery to quickly? im using chevy's ulv 1.25. will using set cpu to scale it back to 1.1 be as beneficial as using a new 1.1 kernal?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm still new to this Rooting so I have a question. I've tried about 14 different ROMs over the past month or so. My Eris always freezes up when I set the OC past 787mhz. I have read where some people are using Kernals that let them OC past 800. Is this something I can flash to my Eris or is my Eris just limited to 787?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried flashing several kernals with different ROMs, but more often than not, my phone just ends up restarting over and over. after i boot it, when i flash the kernal, I would be playing with it then all of a sudden it would freeze up on me and start boot looping. I have cleared the dalvik and cache before flashing ROMs and kernal. I rooted via 3.21 unrevoked and it says on the top of hboot s-off. The only kernal that has worked is netarchy-toastmod 4.1.8 bfs. any idea what i could be doing wrong?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI recently installed one of Chevy's low voltage kernels a few days ago and have since experience extremely laggy performance, random reboots, and terrible battery life compare to what I used to get before I installed it. And most of that stuff has been happening even when I have it maxed at 550. How do I go about uninstalling this kernel?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got my droid (ONLY the droid, no battery, backplate, or charger) lol. I know irritating right. Well since I have a couple days before everything comes that I need, i am contemplating on which ROM to put on it. I have done some reading and seems that the majority of people are happy with BB (right?)
But my question is:
What about Kernals? I have heard to flash new Kernals for overclocking and such, but should I flash a different Kernal or do the ROMS already have the fastest Kernal installed on them? Not sure if this question makes sense, but I'm just trying to get the fastest ROM & Kernal available for my Droid.
I have search for the best ROM, even in the rating thread and have not found a consistent consensus of what people think. I am looking for the newest kernals and the best ROM.
