Motorola Droid 2 :: Setting Custom Ringtones / Text Sounds
Nov 29, 2010How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

May 20, 2010I noticed this morning that my alarm didn't make a sound when it went off this morning. Fortunately it was set to vibrate and I heard that. I than noticed it didn't ring when I received a call. I had my GF send me a txt and no sound with that either. When I go into setting to change my ringtone none of them play. The volume button beeps when I hit it and I other apps that play sounds are working fine.

Jun 8, 2010I use a website to create my own ringtones, they send you a text containing the ringtone. On my LG dare, all I had to do was save it to ringtones then just use it. I'm not sure how to save the ringtones to my sounds. Does anyone know how to do this?

Oct 4, 2010So I ended up having to get a new Droid X shipped to me cause there was a problem with the screen and it was declared DOA. This new Droid X is working out great for the past couple of days. Now all of a sudden my ringtones are switching on and off and pinging like they don't exist on the SD card, but when I turn the phone off and remove the SD card and reinsert it back in everything's fine but then the "Droid" on/off noise is pinging now. It's the same issue I had with the originial phone, but that one was replaced because after the Froyo update I couldn't get any signal out of my house and Verizon concluded that I was close enough to a tower that I should be getting a minimum of like 3 or 4 bars. So my question is this. What is going on with my phone? I am currently operating on 2.2, I am not rooted. I have not messed with the essence of the phone, since I don't know that much about the software. I have not uploaded any apps that control or silence the phone and all my apps that were uploaded are the ones that I had on my prior phone with the screen issue, and they never caused this issue.
Here is the list of apps on my phone for those of you who would like to know: WordPress, AppBrain, AIM, Adobe Reader, NotePad, ColorPad, Pandora, DroidLight, Where's My Droid, Key Ring, Barcode Scanner, Urbanspoon, Jewels, The Schwartz Unsheathed, Angry Birds Beta, Astro, ChompSMS, Creature Pack Icon, Fancy Widget, and Smartshortcuts. So as you can see it's a very small list of things on my actual phone. I have used soundboards from the android market but that was only on my first phone and they were never ranked any lower than 4 and half stars. I don't download any apps below 4 stars. And I read all the comments as well, and there was nothing fishy or bad written about them. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure I hit everything for you guys to be able to help me. I just don't want to go to Verizon if I don't have to cause they want to reset and send me home and it's a recurring issue if it's like my prior issue. I'm wondering if I have a bad SD card.Edit: Additionally I have the old phone with the screen issue and I had the new SD card that came with the phone, I popped it into the phone I'm currently using and powered it back on, and it's still pinged. I'm just not getting what the issue is cause everything was working fine the night before. All my ringtones were working and then I took it off of silent (the slide to silent from the lock screen, which I use since I haven't heard if the silent profile was fixed) and now everything is messed up sound wise.

Sep 21, 2010Does anyone know where I could download the ringtones and notifications that are pre-installed on the HTC Desire? I have somehow managed to delete them off mine. I honestly don't know exactly how or when it was that I managed to do it, but I assume it must have been during the last couple of days when it was connected to my PC - I must have just deleted a folder by mistake. Schoolboy stuff really! If there is no way of getting the original HTC sounds back, does anyone know of a free/non-subscription service where I could source some alternatives? I just want a standard "ring ring" & "beep" rather than some sort of crazy frog shenanigans.

I am able to send everything else like pictures or other stuff, but for some reason there is no option to send a sound. WHY? Am I doing something wrong? Feb 11, 2014I have a Nexus 5. If I choose a custom notification sound in hangouts, for example, that is an .mp3 file, I would get the word "Silent" underneath the sound setting. The same goes for ringtones, but the word that shows underneath Phone ringtone in settings would be "None". I've tried putting the file under the Ringtone folder and it still wouldn't work. How do I get custom sounds to work on KitKat/Nexus 5? It can be set all the way up and nothing would happen.

HTC Desire :: Can't Select Normal Ringtones For Notification Sounds
Sep 4, 2010so I was clearing up some room for a new app and went through managing apps and deleting some and clearing some caches. And now, I can't select any of the normal ringtones on the phone for my notification sounds. When I go Personalize > Default ringtone > select ringtone. It comes up saying 'Phone Ringtone' With options of OK and Cancel. It gives me no choice of any of the old normal tones the phone had before....what the hell is going on. Same for text noises btw.

Jan 13, 2010I am a new owner of the HTC Hero and I tried to customize the ring tones and alarm sounds by using the directions provided by leaky on the tread "HTC Hero: Tips, Tricks & Useful Apps" but unfortunately this did not work out for my Hero. My SD card appeared as DCIM and I had to rename it to SD card and then on the MEDIA folder I added an AUDIO folder in which I added three separate files. One named ring tones, one named alarms and on named notifications as directions provided by thread. Then I added the appropriate .mp3 files to each folder while having the Hero plugged in with my PC.

Sep 4, 2010Some custom ROMs have different ringtones. I have a "Ringtones" folder on my SD with my own, but the ROMs carry theirs internally and once you change ROMs, so do the ringtones. I haven't looked yet, but would they possibly be in the ROM zip file and could I just pull them out of the zip to my computer? I guess I will look now, but let me know if this is the right way or if something else works better. Ultimately I would like to pull off all system ringtones so I can condense to my own and ones I have selected. It's overwhelming sometimes given that I don't and won't ever use 70% of the stock tones.

Sep 5, 2010I want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

May 24, 2010Is it just my phone, I was just on the phone with someone that was on a landline, I noticed it was a little garbly (is that a word LOL) and a little hard to understand, almost like the beginning of each word was cutting off, I decided to put him on speaker phone so I can write stuff down and the phone call was now crystal clear. Jun 6, 2010I just got this phone on Thursday night. I like it so far but one thing about it is annoying me. It doesn't seem like I can make different sounds for all of my contacts for text messages. I can take music on my phone and assign it as different ringtones for each of my contacts but I don't seem to see any option for text alerts. Am I missing something? I already know how to add the music to the notifications folder I just can't do anything but use one as a default. I was able to do this with my BlackBerry Storm without any problem. Is there an app for that? If not I wonder when Froyo is available for the Incredible if it will be possible?

1) Is there a way to avoid notification sounds to take place during media playback, mainly music player, without having to change my sounds profile to silent, or vibrate?
2) All of a sudden my phone is taking a little long to load SMS conversations. Is there a way to fix that? I feel as though my Snapdragon shouldn't lag when I open a text.

Jul 20, 2010This is an update.zip type format for the Droid X ringtones as well as the well known Droid notification sound. This will add them to the appropriate places under /system, instead of needing to put them on the storage, or sd card.
