I received my Froyo update today and it is wreaking havoc on the apps I use most. ESPN radio and MLB atbat. The streaming audio is very choppy. I did not back up and my phone is not rooted. Can I undo this update?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.

My phone is rooted and running 2.2 via download. Froyo is great but I have been waiting for the Flash update like everyone else.
Got the notice this morning on my phone that an OTA update was ready to install and asked if I wanted to proceed. Unit was fully charged and connected via WiFi.
Clicked "proceed" and the phone rebooted. On startup, it went to the boot screen that I used in the root process, and the bottom line said something like "upgrade aborted." Clicked reboot to get the phone usable and see what's what.
Now Settings>About Phone says Android 2.2, Build number FRG01B by Pete. The only "update.zip" file on the SD card is one from the root process. "System updates" says "Your system is currently up to date."
Looks like nothing happened.
Has rooting my phone precluded the possibility of an OTA update?
(If I had known that rooting my phone would prevent OTA updates I would not have done it.)
How can I get the OTA update to run? Where are the update files loaded? What do I do now?
I've rooted my Incredible with Unrevoked 3 and I have successfully used Unrevoked Forever to set S=OFF.now, I am trying to update to Froyo, but I am confused as crap.Can I use the official OTA update and do it manually? Or do I need a different ROM to update manually with.I've searched here and there everywhere and I haven't gotten a firm answer or I can't find anything at all.

Posted Today, 08:16 PM My Kingston 16G class 10 sd card actually physically cracked and is therefore defunct but Kingston will be replacing it within the week - I foolishly do not have it backed up on my PC. I had rooted my Incredible with Unprovoked 3 and had been experimenting with a couple of Froyo ROMs using ROM Manager: Cyanogen6RG3 and Skyrider 2.5. I had just updated my Clockwork Mod Recovery (and to truly screw things up ) I had made full use of Apps2sd. Now, when I put my old SanDisk 2G sd back in, (all I had was 1 old nandroid backup on it) I am back to: Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon. So, I probably won't have my new 16G card for almost a week and I'm very open to suggestions as to my best plan of attack. I guess I should also think about repartitioning the new sd - according to the recent lag fixes. Please know that, for the time being, I'm pretty much command line challenged - so (perhaps foolishly) - I am doing all of this on the phone itself. I recently downloaded SDK to my PC and I was just getting ready to try to get the hang of adb, emulator etc - but I'm hoping I can get my phone back to where it was before I get into that project.

I read that ODIN3 would restore factory settings; but, several people that used ODIN3 warned against using it unless there was no other option.

So far the phone works I have Market 2.2 etc, but I tested Hulu and found out that my "handset" doesn't work with this format. I'm not sure how to check for Flash 10.1 but some video worked on the Adobe flash player site.
I still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. View 4 Replies View RelatedI recieved the ota update this morning and tried to install. while the phone did its thing with the power off i would get an exclamation point and with any button press would bring me into clockwork. I have no idea how to get the 2.2 update working and upon reboot of the phone i go to setting and check for software updates and am told it is up to date. If i go to the about phone section I am still running 2.1update1. Is it because my phone is rooted that I can not update? I do not care for root capabilities as my friend did it for me and wireless tether can be done natively. I have done a factory reset twice now but i can not get this froyo update to work.

I put PB13IMG.ZIP on sd card, it installed. Then DINC_OTA and renamed to update applied that. REBOOTED checked settings and its still not updated.

I already rooted my DInc and also applied unrEVOked Forever to unlock my NAND and verified that it said S-OFF. I applied the Froyo RUU leaked on 8.26.10 and verified that S-OFF still. I then installed ROM Manager (I purchased this earlier) and it says that I need Root access to use. How do I go about re-rooting the phone after Froyo is installed? I have been reading through the forum for over an hour looking for an answer with no success.

But it just sat there for a half hour, then I got tired of waiting bc I had to go to work and just rebooted the phone, but I never got the green updating arrows, what do I need to do?

My source says it will have the 720p as well as wifi hotspot, as well as the back end, speed, and battery life enhancements. They also mentioned that there would be some new htc widgets and better skype support.take it for what it is worth but i will try to get some visual evidence.if anyone is getting the ota on there phone please post a picture here!

Source says that It looks like this might only be a minor update and not full 2.2 from reports of people getting it already. We will have to wait and see to know for sure.

I am sorry to say that i have far less faith in my source after this blunder... now things may have come up such as a problem with the update or the fact that they are pushing out updates for the Droid x, droid Eris and the BB curve right now and the data load would be too much. What ever the case i thought that my source (who has been a very reliable one) would be right on but apparently something has come up. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up but at least some good came of this.(leaked OTA) next time I will be a little more general with any dates that I put out.Verizon all but confirms Droid Incredible's getting Froyo soon | Android Central. So the latest rumor is that it will come out on the 18th of august.lets hope that this time it is true!
I don't want to start a flame war, but I've heard from two people that they've received an OTA update notification. One of them has a rooted phone, the other person is an acquaintance and I don't know if their phone is rooted or not.Personally I think it might have something to do with rooted Dinc's (I haven't gotten a notice) but just to be sure, has anyone else received an update notice?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted HTC 2.2 unrevoked (yay) and i have been getting a message coming up everyday and saying there is an update available. I click on it and it asks to install now or later. It is an android update saying it will update the vcast suite of apps. Well I have uninstalled that crap with Titanium backup. Whatever, im adventurous and I tell it to install and it says ii will reboot and it never does. It says it is downloaded but it just never installs and it is getting annoying.
