View 21 Replies View RelatedPrior to the Froyo update, if I had anything above 10% WiFi reception, I could watch videos over WiFi. It would be more or less uninterrupted.
Since the Froyo update, I virtually cannot watch streaming video over WiFi. When I do, it plays, but it halts every few seconds and may halt for long periods. Fortunately, 3G seems less flaky since the update.
But WiFi on Froyo on my device has gone from good to essentially unusable, at least for streaming video.
My only complaints about WiFi prior to the update were lack of support 802.11n (which I've been trying to verify may have been fixed in the last 2.1 update) and the fact that my laptop could use WiFi farther away from the router in my house than my EVO could.
After updating to Froyo, I can no longer connect to my home WiFi. anyone else having a similar issue? I've tried re-entering my WEP key with no luck. I know my WiFi is working, I took Froyo on it and my wife's Evo that hasn't been updated to Froyo connects fine.
View 23 Replies View RelatedYesterday at my office I noticed my wireless connection cycling on and off. I have a basic D-link wireless router that networks three computers. I couldn't figure out why I kept losing internet and the network. It would work for a few minutes then not work for a few.
I finally narrowed it down to my EVO. When I have the WIFI set to on in the EVO its messing up my network. Any ideas as to why? This didn't happen until the Froyo update!
Just got the update for my HTC desire on my wifi. Downloading now.

As far as I can tell, I'm still having the same problem and it might even be worse because I've noticed that sometimes wifi disconnects even when the phone is plugged in, which didn't happen before.
View 16 Replies View RelatedDeveloped a problem holding onto a WiFi signal after the Froyo update. After Froyo, I was getting a good connection intermittently, sometimes for only a few seconds before it was lost--the phone was switching to 3G and then back again, over and over. This disrupted downloads, browser connections, etc. I'm using an Airlink101 wireless-N router on the Comcast network.
I changed the router settings from G+N to N only. No more disconnects. Seems that the two protocols were conflicting with each other--fighting for a connection to my phone. My connection speeds went way up immediately (12-13 MPS download/3+ MPS upload). My wife has an Eris that does not have wireless-N capability (only G). I set up a secondary channel for wireless-G and gave it a different SSID name. This did not conflict with my phone--I didn't manually set up the login for that channel so it's just being ignored by the DInc.
Not sure if this is necessary for some wireless-N routers but it definitely worked (so far) for the Airlink.

Since the Froyo update if I am connected to both Wifi and Bluetooth while listening to music, the bluetooth will turn itself on and off over and over again. This did not happen to me prior to the Froyo update.I guess my question is, can we not be running and be connected to WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time with Froyo?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI already rooted my DInc and also applied unrEVOked Forever to unlock my NAND and verified that it said S-OFF. I applied the Froyo RUU leaked on 8.26.10 and verified that S-OFF still. I then installed ROM Manager (I purchased this earlier) and it says that I need Root access to use. How do I go about re-rooting the phone after Froyo is installed? I have been reading through the forum for over an hour looking for an answer with no success.

But it just sat there for a half hour, then I got tired of waiting bc I had to go to work and just rebooted the phone, but I never got the green updating arrows, what do I need to do?

My source says it will have the 720p as well as wifi hotspot, as well as the back end, speed, and battery life enhancements. They also mentioned that there would be some new htc widgets and better skype support.take it for what it is worth but i will try to get some visual evidence.if anyone is getting the ota on there phone please post a picture here!

Source says that It looks like this might only be a minor update and not full 2.2 from reports of people getting it already. We will have to wait and see to know for sure.

I am sorry to say that i have far less faith in my source after this blunder... now things may have come up such as a problem with the update or the fact that they are pushing out updates for the Droid x, droid Eris and the BB curve right now and the data load would be too much. What ever the case i thought that my source (who has been a very reliable one) would be right on but apparently something has come up. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up but at least some good came of this.(leaked OTA) next time I will be a little more general with any dates that I put out.Verizon all but confirms Droid Incredible's getting Froyo soon | Android Central. So the latest rumor is that it will come out on the 18th of august.lets hope that this time it is true!
After upgrading to Froyo I can't seem to find the gmail settings anymore. I want to change the sync interval or w/e because every time I open the gmail app I get that "Loading conversations". Anyone know where to find it or is it gone in Froyo?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn 2.1 I used handcent and loved it, never had a problem. After updating handcent was extremely slow even after installing and reinstalling. I tried the stock messaging app and it's very slow too. I'm now trying chomp sms and it's still kinda slow as well. Is anybody having this problem? Could it be just a messaging bug in 2.2?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since the froyo update (installed fresh from the RUU file), there are random days where my alarm will not sound, both from the stock htc alarm app, and Alarm Klock.At first, I thought it may be gonig off, but I've been muting it in my sleep, but today my suspicions were confirmed when I was awake in time to see it attempt to go off, only for the alarm screen to come up with no sound, despite the alarm volume being cranked up to maximum.I'm honestly at my wit's end with this; I can't find anyone else with this problem, and I've had to buy a cheap clock from CVS to wake myself up in the morning.Has ANYONE else been having this problem? I've already been late to work twice because of it!

I saw unrevoked released what looks like a fail proof way of doing it and I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. I'm debating whether or not to root it now or wait to see if this "possible" froyo update comes out later this month.

Ever since i recieved the OTA update for 2.2 froyo . . my handcent application has been lagging terribly! Right before i would recieve a text my phone would freeze, can't tap on anything . . then the sms pop up would come up and then finally vibrate. am i the only one with this problem? . . this has never happened prior to froyo 2.2.

I am not responsible if this does not work for your case or if you damage your phone in any way. This information is provided to attempt to help other people in the community that were having the same issues I was for the OTA. The way I did my OTA and got root back is this: (simplified version)
- install unrevoked 3, and unrevoked forevor (s-off)
- wait for OTA message
- click install later
- reboot into recovery
- do nand backup
- find and download stock 2.1 recovery zip file

- find and download (to a different location) clockworks mod zip file

(near the bottom of the page)
- place stock 2.1 recovery file on root of sd card
- reboot into hboot
- hboot will ask to install recovery update
- click yes
- reboot back to OS
- wait for OTA message
- click install now
- wait for 10-30 minutes while phone does OTA update
- place clockworksmod zip file onto root of sd card (overwriting/deleting the 2.1 stock zip file in the process)
- reboot into Hboot
- when asked allow hboot to update recovery again
- reboot phone
- uninstall any old super user program you had on your phone
- install this new one using the information on this link

Prior to the 2.2 update if I was streaming music (Pandora or similar) or listening to MP3's (HTC's music player) while I was using the Google Navigation feature to get somewhere, my music would fade out when Google Needed to give me driving instructions, then fade back up afterwards. This was a brilliant feature to me. Yesterday, I found myself using music and navigation for the first time since my late Friday 2.2 update. Now, it appears I have to choose what I want to hear. If music is playing and the navigation needs to give me instructions, it just stops the music altogether - it doesn't start back. OR I can mute the navigation instructions and just listen to the music. But they are working together the way they used to. I haven't received a phone call while playing/streaming music to see if this issue goes with that too. I'll check it at home tonight and see and report back.

I don't know about battery life much but after the update, life was worse, I did the factory reset and still no improvement. And now it takes longer to charge for some reason. Any ideas?
