Motorola Droid :: Can Undo Froyo 2.2
Oct 8, 2010
I manually installed Froyo on a Motorola Droid from one of the available sites prior to the OTA update. I've experienced some slowness and my phone locking up. Can I revert back to the last good update and then reinstall Froyo via the OTA update option on my phone?

I received my Froyo update today and it is wreaking havoc on the apps I use most. ESPN radio and MLB atbat. The streaming audio is very choppy. I did not back up and my phone is not rooted. Can I undo this update?

I mistakenly selected one of two email accounts on my X -- as being the "Default"
This was a mistake, as I really should have kept the setting dynamic -- so I could chose to send from either account.
Now I can't undo that default setting -- nor can I even switch the default to the other email account.
Here's how I got to the menu in question:
GUI Messaging Icon > Left Menu Button > Messaging Settings > Email > Default Email Account
Anyone know how I can undo this default setting -- and put myself back in the position of being able to select which account to use dynamically?

I accidentally deleted an email I wanted, but couldn't figure out how to "undelete" it. I can see if in the Trash folder, but don't see any menu options to move it back to the Inbox.
I was able to open the message and Forward it to myself, but that seemed overly difficult. Is there any easier way to undo the delete?

I currently have a rooted Droid running BB 1.1, but I had an issue with the vibrate motor inside the phone and Verizon is in the process of shipping me a new one fully covered under warranty. However, rooting your phone does in fact VOID the warranty, and when I ship the defective phone back, I am afraid I will have to pay for the replacement. Will a factory reset undo the "rooting", if not is there any way to? Or is this something I shouldn't even be worrying about?

I'm tired of the slow performance of the Motorola Bluetooth voice dialer. Now with Froyo sporting its own Bluetooth voice dialer, does anyone know if there's a way to switch to it? I am running 2.2. My biggest issue with the Motorola bluetooth voice dialer is that'll take up to 30 seconds from the time I press the dial button on my bluetooth device till it'll be ready for me to say a command. Totally unacceptable! Is my only option to go to a custom ROM?

Basically what the title says. I'm running BB v 0.4, but today got a notice saying that an update is ready for download / install. There is no "ignore forever" button and I'm getting tired of hitting "Install later" Solution?

Swype on the Droid X with 2.1 originally had a black keyboard with bigger keys to swype or type on. With Froyo, it's now showing as a white keyboard with smaller keys that looks look the Swype keyboard I had originally had on my Droid 1. Is this the "new" keyboard look for Swype on the Droid X or is there a way to bring back the old look before upgrading to Froyo on the Droid X? The version that is showing on the DX now is 1.64.40.9380.

I don't get it. My phone is fast. I mean everything is fast. Screen transitions, page loads, benchmark scores, everything except the HTC keyboard V26 for froyo from XDA. Including calibration tool. I installed from SD and the APKs do not show in system/apps. Why is HTC_IME MOD lag on my fast froyo Droid?

Ok so I've searched the forums high and low. But I haven't been able to get a clear answer or solution. But anyway I did the Froyo update on Oct 7th. Im really lovein the flash capability. But since then none of my widgets are updating. Face book, social network, Recent messages and news. When I try to update a status on my social network one it jus says, "can't send update. Message failure. " And I have the orange triangle with exclamation point on most of my messaging icons. So I just need to know if this is either a soft where fix I need to wait for. Or is their something I can do to fix this myself.

I've read that FRF57 was getting about 25% faster speeds, what about BB.1 vs FRF57.Is there a difference in speed.More importantly, how about how smooth it operates.I am a nut about how smooth the phone works.Even if BB resulted in lower benchmark scores, but smoother performance, I would go for BB.1.

So I just got my car mount for the droid yesterday, and was wondering about the car home screen. For some reason, the car home screen has about 4 blank spots where it looks like you could put apps in there, but you can't do anything with it. Is there anyway to put more apps on those screens? I wanted to put pandora on the car home screen but I can't figure out what these extra spaces are for.

I've been using Bugless Beast v0.4 for a week or two now. It is what I installed when I first rooted my Droid. I love it, really, but I've had a few little things I've wondered about. 1. The memory manager seems a bit excessive, it keeps killing Meebo, even when it's in the foreground. 2. No Wifi Hotspot in the Settings. 3. Could it be faster if it were from Source? So, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a ROM that was 2.2, stable, and fast. I don't care about whether it's from source, really, unless that makes it faster. I do like some of the tweaks I've read about in some of the from-source mods, but I am concerned about stability, such as working Wifi, or too-overclocked kernels. I would love to hear recommendations to make my Droid as fast and stable as possible,

I've been reading about android 2.2 coming out with Flash 10 support. I haven't seen an official date yet but it sounds like it's coming very soon. I've been running BB v1.0 and love it. That being said, I want this new update asap but I don't want to lose root. Is there going to be any BB or similar rom using the update? I've read Google has the code under wraps. Root users had all the benefits of ese53 weeks before 2.1 was distributed, will we see a repeat or are root users going to need to wait for custom roms or risk losing root when 2.2 comes?

Hoping someone has a fix, ADB no longer sees my device after the update. If I turn off USB debugging everything works fine, the phone charges and the DX applet launches like normal. Turning on USB debugging kills everything, phone doesn't charge, applet doesn't launch & ADB doesn't find my device. I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Any ideas?

I have run a bunch of Froyo roms already and nearly all of them have had significant bugs. Is there any suggestions for a froyo rom that is the most reliable and stable at this point, or am I just being unpatient? I'm running ROM Manager, any suggestions from there? Or is elsewhere better.

Ok this is very simple folks. I took a trip to the root forum for some info for us common folk.
This is a LEAKED release, therefore motorola has not officially pushed it to our devices yet.
To install is easy
First download the file update.zip
update.zip
Now
1: Move update.zip to your SD card, do not put it in any folders, leave it on the root of the SD card. Do not unzip it.
2:Turn off your phone
3:Boot your phone into recovery mode. Do this by holding the home button and power button at the same time, until the motorola logo appears.
4:Use camera zoom keys to scroll down to "Apply update.zip"
5:Reboot phone
If you wish to revert back to 2.1, follow this link

So long story short...and a lot of work later.
I rolled back to 2.01 sbf and got the update to 2.2 and it failed. I rolled back to ESE81 (2.1) sbf and got the update...and it failed. I ended up getting FRG22 off another forum and i am updated.
Now I want to find a FROYO SBF file so I can wipe and get a clean install of Froyo.
Do you think one will make it's way into the wild?
