I'm using handcent for messages and dont know how to stop the stock messages from notification when i get new text. so i get double notifications one from handcent then one from stock.

I was wondering is there any way i can stop my text messages from showing up in the top notification bar? Like who the message is from and what the message says?
Also is anybody else having problems with landscape mode? When i first got the phone it would go into landscape mode without the keyboard, but now it wont. I was wondering is the next software update going to fix it and if when?
How do I stop the text messages from popping up on the screen and scrolling across the top of the screen when they come in?

I've been using sms popup for over a week now and haven't had a problem until yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and If they have sms pop-up or is it a Sprint or Hero thing? TIA for any insight or solutions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?
When I lock my phone you can still read the last message on the lock screen. Is there away to prevent the latest message from being displayed while my phone is locked?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI apologize for the topic, I understand this is a common question because I did search around before posting this.I know that I need to go into the stock messaging program and disable notifications for that program. However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

Same thing with incoming email on my gmail account.. I could have sworn that the phone would vibrate when I got a text the first couple of days I had it. I hate when someone responds with something short enough that I can read it right from the bar. Then the only way that it will not show up as a new message on the message icon or be bold in the list, I have to click on it, open the message app, and then back out of it. Not that big of a PITA just kind of annoying when I already know the full message.

When she gets a text, the notification window comes up with the message, the background picture is a nicely rendered white Android holding a phone up to his "ear". Across the top, it says something along the lines of "leslie2099 is 0.7 miles away. Chat Now!". I'm an HTC Hero user with Cyanogenmod 6, so I am reasonably familiar with Froyo, but I can't figure out what this is from. Any ideas?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to rooted 2.2, I noticed that if I receive a text message at 10:18, it shows that I got it at 6:18 when I pull down the notification bar. When I click on it and go into text messages it shows the correct time though. Anyone else experience this? It's these minor things that are frustrating to me.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI jut picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am trying to change my notification sound for text messages. I put an MP3 file in the appropriate folder, and selected it in the settings menu on messaging. It keeps reverting back to the old default message notification sound.
How to get it to believe I want to use a different sound?

1. How do I delete ALL text messages from ALL contacts?
2. How do I un-grey the notification sound options?

However, when I receive a notification while I'm doing something else, or heck even if I receive it while just looking at my phone, I want to be able to hit a button and make the noise stop! I realize I have an email, text, whatever, so now I want the .mp3/sound to stop and not continue to play the duration of the clip!
