Starting yesterday I have been getting duplicate text messages sometimes 3 of the same one. I've been using sms popup for over a week now and haven't had a problem until yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and If they have sms pop-up or is it a Sprint or Hero thing? TIA for any insight or solutions.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to be on GV 100% (voice, txt, whatever else GV provides) the problem wiht this so far is that i get duplicate text messages - which is annoying the reason for my frustration as i see it is that GV is not as integrated into the phone the same way voice calls are - when you dial out, it goes out through my GV number, not my number from my carrier now, i could send a txt to someone using google's GV widget, but the problem with that is i lose the ability to click on the Messages button in the contact's info page (see pg 36 in the manual) and see my entire text history with that client bummer however, as a result of this whole stock-message-app-draining-the-battery "thing" i've jumped onboard the handcent bandwagon turns out, handcent stores its messages in the phones database/memory/whatever so that the text history is retained and accessible via that Messages button in the contact info page! nice! now.. if only you could send OUT to GV's system through these 3rd party messaging apps (thus avoiding GVs app and its inability to save/store txt msg history in the contacts page), we would be set!
Well, today i learned that when a person sends you a txt through the GV service (ie - they send you a text to your GV number), it appears to you as a 406 area code (see here - read TuXian's post) and furthermore, you can save that number in the contact's info page and send to that person using that number its not "perfect" because its not "seamless" -- the end user has to THINK - and DO SOMETHING for this system to work which is okay for us "techies" and "enthusiasts" - but for the general public, that's not gonna cut it but it seems to work at this point either HTC needs to improve teh Sense UI to incorporate content generated in the GV widget/app, or google needs to store its data in the Hero's file structure.... but this is definitely "kludgy" and they will need to a better job if they expect to rival apple and the iphone in a meaningful and significant way (ok, where did that little rant come from!)
When I receive text messages they are coming in both the OEM messaging app as well as the HandScent app. I have Handscent set as my default messaging app but I still get the notifications in both apps. I have Droid1, rooted using HandScent for texting. How do I stop messages from going into the OEM messaging app?

When I lock my phone you can still read the last message on the lock screen. Is there away to prevent the latest message from being displayed while my phone is locked?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to 2.1, I've been receiving a text alert for every voicemail I get. I've black listed these messages in the past. Since the update, the text alert comes from the individual. If I black list it, I don't get any text from that person.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

Lately however it has developed an issue receiving text messages, I get phone calls from people who have been "texting me all day" and I wont receive a single message. It seems to come and go though, have tried switching to Handcent SMS instead of the default app and it still happens.

It tends to happen when the phone has been asleep for a while and the message would come in at 9:50 but it would be time stamped for 9:44. Any fix to this?!!! View 4 Replies View RelatedMy sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail. I hate when someone responds with something short enough that I can read it right from the bar. Then the only way that it will not show up as a new message on the message icon or be bold in the list, I have to click on it, open the message app, and then back out of it. Not that big of a PITA just kind of annoying when I already know the full message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago, all the sudden I couldnt recieve any attached pictures sent to me through text messages. I thought that maybe it was an application that may have caused this so i did a factory reset and installed only minimal apps that I use regularly. It fixed the problem and worked fine right after so I thought maybe that was it. Now after about 3 weeks or so, I am not getting attached pics in text messages again. I have not downloaded any apps either. When someone sends me a pic it will say who its from, the message size which ALWAYS says 6KB, and the expiration date. It will show a download box on the top right of the message abd when i push it, it will say downloading, then I will get a notification saying that the download was unsuccessful. What could be the cause of this?? I would hate to have to do a factory reset every 3-4 weeks to address this problem.
