Nov 13, 2010I just received the latest ota. Is there a way to stop slacker from running all the time other than manually pushing stop through the applications tab?

View 4 RepliesI just installed the 2.2 update on my Incredible. Don't know if it's me but it seems a tad bit slower than the last OS. I'm also noticing on my Advance Task Killer that I have Skype, Amazon MP3, Slacker, Kik, and other applications open most of the time without even touching the apps. Also pressing KILL all applications does not do the job! I gotta hold the application and press force stop myself.
Also earlier today I noticed I got incoming and missed calls from people in my phonebook, but when checking my call logs, it doesnt show their name it just the number and thats it.
So if anyone else is experiencing this please or has a solution to this please reply back.
Once upon a time I accidently thought backup assistant would be useful and set it up. Now ever since setting it up it runs in the background like an annoying pest. I have cleared the cache as online recommendations have mentioned, but Backup Assistant STILL runs in the background and restarts if forced to quit.I'm now rooted and have the Clockwork recovery mod on my phone....what can I do now to permenantly banish "Backup Assistant" from running? I've heard of people deleting it but then having problems with syncing FCing. So I'm just looking to slam the door in its face.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night I noticed that there is an update to Slacker, so I downloaded it to my Incredible. Opened it to see if there were any visible differences, went to a station and played a song for 2 seconds, selected quit via the menu, and then "shutdown slacker" at the end. This morning I open up Spare Parts, check the battery history/partial wake usage, and Slacker is at the top, bar all the way to the right.
View 12 Replies View RelatedThis doesn't always happen but when it does, Slacker stops playing after every 2 or so songs. I get a message box that reads "Warning! Unable to find active data or WiFi connection. Would you like to quit the application?" and gives me Yes or No options. Clicking No returns me to the Stations list where selecting any station returns me to the one previously playing and starts the next song when I hit Play.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the short time that I've used Slacker radio, my phone has rebooted itself twice. At the time I was on Wifi and was skipping a lot of songs. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a software or hardware issue?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way I can test if there are any other activities in my app still alive? I am looking to stop a service in an onDestroy method, but only want to do this if there are no other activities from my app still alive on the stack.
I have the call stop the service in the main activity's onDestroy() method. This works perfect EXCEPT that if a user launches my app, then launches a few activities in my app, then hits the home screen and RELAUNCHES my app, they will subvert my order and the main activity will now be above other activities of my app. From this state, if they hit the back button and 'back out' of my home screen they will trigger the onDestroy() method and kill the service even though there are other activities open on the stack. I want to avoid this by stopping the service ONLY if I am sure there are no other activities of mine open on the stack.
I'm sure some folks already know this but for those that don't. You find out what apps are running in the background by going into settings, applications and running services. You can stop whatever apps you want.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with this app. I may use it in the future, so I don't want to delete it. But it keeps randomly popping up. When I go into my running applications, 8 out of 10 times it is running. I shut it down, and it keeps popping back up. How can I stop it from running on its own? I only want it to run if I manually click on it. Went into application settings and can find nothing to toggle it off with. This happens on a bunch of applications, but Amazon MP3 is the most frequent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed the GPS icon at the top of the screen even when I'm not in a GPS app. It's definitely affecting my battery life. I've rebooted the phone a few times. I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.

The long-running step is, for example, the first call to Cursor.moveToFirst(). This can sometimes take up to 30 seconds so I would like the user to be able to cancel.
However, how should this be done? I've tried closing the Cursor (in another thread) but all that happens is that the close() call takes as long as moveToFirst() and then terminates with the exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: attempt to acquire a reference on a close SQLiteClosable

Outlook has stopped syncing now (don't recieve emails, set as "push") when on wifi at home.
I have to go into the mail app and manually sync to get them.
It's been working fine until yesterday.
Still works when not on wifi.
Anything I did, or just Outlook itself taking a walk on the wild side like it seems to often.
