I thought that there was a default setting to change all numbers in Contacts to list a particular number (mobile, home, work, etc). I would like all of my contact's primary numbers to call home numbers and not mobile numbers. However, some of them are set to Work as primary while others are set to Home. How do I change this? Ok. So I've switched from a Moto Droid to an Incredible. The contacts are a bit different. I'm having a problem, and HTC customer service says there's no solution. With the Droid you could choose to label a number for a contact (assuming the contact has multiple numbers or e-mails) as the primary number. I never figured out how to get rid of any primary designation, but that's another matter. Well, with the Incredible, the People app automatically designates a number as primary. You can change the primary number, but you can't eliminate it, which is annoying for two reasons: 1. in the dialer, when you type the person's name only the primary number comes up and 2. in the People app when you tap on the contact's photo to get the methods of contacting and then press phone, it auto dials the primary number only. I have several contacts who use multiple numbers with equal frequency. Plus, to top it off, HTC's People app listed the wrong number as the primary in many instances, which means I have to go through all my contacts on the phone. This is a phone-specific feature and is unrelated to Google contacts. So, that's my complaint today. It's purely about functionality, and it applies equally to e-mail addresses as well as phone numbers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using the Desire with Froyo for quite some time and have 2 problems with it:
1) When I go to people and press send message, the phone instead of composing a message my phone starts dialing that number.
2) In my Favorites even though I have selected a primary number to dial, the phone keeps calling a different one on the list which was set a long time ago.
Under each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?

When looking at a contact, you will notice that one phone number (and one email address) is marked as "Primary". When calling without directly using contacts - just the list that pops up as you are typing the number or name - the phone call will be made to the number that is marked as "primary" instead of giving a choice. How do you change the "Primary" number for a contact? So far, the only way I have found to do it is to delete all numbers except for the one I want as the primary, and then add the rest after. Is there a way in editing the contact to just make this change without deleting the numbers and adding them back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSome Contacts defaulted to the Contact Details as a primary. I have tried changing the primary to the call number I want for the primary. It does not seem to work. Please tell me if I am doing this correctly. I press the people button on the home page, then I press the photo of the Contact I want to view. Then I press the Index Card Icon. I am now looking at the Contacts Details. I hold down the phone number I want to make primary. It never gives me the Make Primary Option. If the Contact shows no Primary, I can set a Primary. But if the Contact already shows a wrong Primary, I can't change it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my Incredible set up to synchronize with my work's exchange server. I have a ton of meetings, and I rely upon the phone's 10-minute reminder to play an alert sound before each meeting. This is very handy. What I don't like is that there is no way to set the frequency (i.e., the repeat) for the audible calendar event reminders. It seems like they will just keep going off forever every 5 or 10 minutes, even after the meeting has started, until I hunt my phone down, turn it on, slide the screen lock down, slide the notification area down, select the reminder, and select "Dismiss". And then when my next meeting comes up again, same issue. It was driving me crazy, to the point that I simply turned off the reminder notifications entirely. Is there any way I can tell this phone, "When there is a meeting in ten minutes, please play exactly 3 audible reminder alerts: 10 minutes before, 5 minutes before, and when the meeting time has started.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSwitched from Blackberry to Incredible and have hopefully a simple contacts question. My listing for a friend, John, has a cell and home number. His listing will give me an option to message each listed number. But, I only want to message his cell and would like that to be the primary action for messaging (in fact messaging his home could preferably be deleted since it isn't possible). Holding down the number doesn't give me the option to change like the calling listings do. Right now it looks like the primary messaging option is email, which I don't want. When I create a message in Handcent and type his name, the two numbers come up but there are no descriptions to help me distinguish between his cell and home numbers. I do have contacts synced with google with some Facebook links if that is important.

I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
In Settings it shows a phone number for the device when running the emulator. It shows the same phone number with several different AVD's. Is this number the same across all development systems (i.e., is it hardcoded or random or...)? Can it be set to some specific number and how to do that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
I've setup the stock email app to show emails from my home address using settings specified by my ISP (Plus.net).
I've recently upgraded my phone from a HTC desire running Android 2.2 which allowed me to specify how many days worth of emails it would retrieve.
I've been trying to find a similar setting on the stock email without success, and wondered if this was possible?
I've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
My purpose is to set headers for related items of grid view and for this i am thinking about to set the width of grid view different for header and sectional view's.if any other way 2 set sectional header for related items is possible?

However, I'd rather not carry around 2 different phones. I did not port my number to my new service as my old number was not "local" to where I live now.

I got my Nexus a few days ago and now i seem to have found my first problem with it.You apparently cant assign ringtones to contacts.I have a g1 so I know how to do it on there but the option is no longer there on the Nexus one. Am I missing something or does it just not allow it anymore.If not does anyone know an application that will allow me to do this?

If I interrogate the contact details the number is correct except that the desire has automatically changed the number from 0781. to 44781 without a + infront of it. Could this be a the problem? If he calls me, the number displayed is the same as the contact details. I have noticed however that his facebook picture is an old one. Could it have something to do with the number that he has on his facebook profile.
