I switched to a new ROM but first did a titanium and nandroid backup. Is there a way I can get my sms and contacts back? And I've been looking around and I'm an idiot and all my contacts were on my phone not google, so does that mean they are lost forever unless I restore with nandroid?

I know its gotta be easy to do, but for the life of me, I don't see where to do it. My contacts are all last name, then first name; I want to switch them to first name then last name.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new HTC Hero and TELUS imported the contacts from my old (OLD) Motorola i570 dumbphone. I need to do a lot of cleanup of the data, including specifying proper first/last names, merging postal and e-mail address data from my Palm TX's database, etc. I used "Contacts Manager" to export my phone-based contacts to an XML file on the SD card. It can apparently import an XML file as well, but I can't get it to work. It always complains about importing a directory instead of a file.

So now I'm looking for another app that can overwrite my phone's contacts database with new data from an XML or CSV file. I would really prefer not to send all this information up to Google.
is there any other way to backup and restore contacts? i know it automatically syncs with your gmail.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy first Android phone, so please forgive my ignorance if any. Rooted Vibrant, flashed from stock ROM to Obsidian V4. I did a "backup current ROM" before "install ROM from SD card" by using Rom Manager. The process went smooth, but after booting into the new ROM, I found that all my contacts were gone. Sync with google account won't help because most of the phone numbers are not tied with my gmail contacts.
Now, I want to know if there is any way to extract/restore my contacts without restoring to the saved backup. Actually, I tried restore but the phone did not boot after restore. Do I have to use Odin to boot my phone to solve this issue? And even if I succeed, will I see all my contacts?
I was erasing some stuff with titanium backup and I delete intentionally the people app, because I didn't want my phone list on the google account; however deleting people app has broken somehow the dialer too and now I can't use it anymore.
I tryed to delete totally the stock dialer and installing a new one downloaded from google play store but it still doesn't work (I couldn't see while calling).
I tryed to download and use the .apk files from kitkat but none of them works.
My phone is a Moto G and it's rooted.
I recently had the misfortune of downloading the latest OTA update from samsung to 4.3.3. Made my phone very laggy and not a great improvement. Years back I rooted and flashed my HTC Wildfire, which wasnt a big deal as the phone was relatively cheap.
Anyway to get to the point. I flashed with 4.2.2 Cyanogen Mod onto my Galaxy S4 and had backed up my stock using Clockwork Mod. I have been able to use Titanium backup pro to restore pretty much everything except my contacts. I think the issue is with my old contacts being stored in a newer version of Android. Is there anyway around this as I would really like to get my contacts back.
I had tried flashing with a stock ROM but the latest one I can get from sammobile is 4.2.2
I updated my Xperia X10 to 2.1 today. I backed up my contacts, messages, call logs everything.When the phone was updated and I restored everything contacts are missing all the rest are there.A little background to know. For some reason Xperia X10 cannot read my SIM contacts from the day I bought it when we were on 1.6 so I decided to create an CSV file to add them to the mobile memory not to the SIM.So now what? View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer. Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup. After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process. I left it restoring for a while.
When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap. But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. I tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere. I have work related contacts as well as family & friends and really need to get my contacts back - please advise?
My son decided to "borrow" my Fascinate and once I got it back, all my contacts, Apps & Notes are gone, but my music and pictures are still there.
Anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem?
I backed up all the system and user apps before installing the custom ROM CynaogenMod 10. I restored the user apps and it worked fine. Then I tried restoring the system apps and I had to choose to restore from either XML or system image. I chose system image, rebooted and the phone kept restarting. I then tried using the XML file to restore system files. Again the same problem; the phone kept restarting.
Out of the backed up system files, the most important one for me is the contacts. Is there any way I can restore only the contacts. I have the following files in the backup folder pertaining to contacts.
1) com.android.providers.contacts-1.properties
2) com.android.providers.contacts-1.tar.gz
3) com.android.providers.contacts-1.odex.gz
4) com.android.providers.contacts-1.apk.gz
I transferred my list of contacts to my Evo, but the primary numbers got screwed up in the transfer. How do I change the primary number in a contact from, like their home number to their cell number?

I sync'd up my Gmail contacts but when I set up my Facebook account, it added all my Facebook contacts and made my contact pictures in my contact list the ones from Facebook. I want the contact pictures that I have saved in my Gmail account to be the pictures showing up on my phone and I also didn't want all my Facebook contacts to transfer over to my list. How do I go back to my original Gmail contacts only, and import the photos from my Gmail account to replace the ones from Facebook? When I go to the option to change picture source, it only gives me my Facebook and Twitter accounts as options.

I activated the new phone, instealled MyBackupPro on it, and restored. Only problem is, my contacts came through corrupted, so didn't transfer.Now I need to go back to my old phone and get the contacts off of it using MYBackup Pro. But the phone won't let me past the activation screen. I don't want to reactivate it, I just want to use the app to download the contact information to the SD card.Why is it requiring activation to transfer information? How do I fix?

Of course 5 minutes later, I saw the post that Froyo will be OTA tomorrow... Will I receive the OTA? If not, what steps do i need to do to restore this back so that I receive it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAnyone else had abny issues with the back up restore function? I tried to do a software update, to which something seems to have happened. All i can see for the time being is an update to the virtual keyboard. Anyway, lost apps, contacts etc, so went into the menu on the handset and selected back up, restore. Restored numbers etc to phone book and over 150 number details are missing. The back up utility doesn't seem to have backed up all my numbers. Also, any personal photo's of callers etc have either vanished or the photo's are now against the wrong people. So much for this back up service, it's going to take hours, if not days to try to get the phone back tot he way it was!

View 3 Replies View RelatedRooted my FroyoDinc w/ unrevoked 3 and unrevoked forever this morning. In my haste to explore I started deleting some of the Verizon bloatware such as Friendstream, Facebook, Footprint, City ID as well as a couple of others before stopping when I remembered that I should have immediatly run a nandroid and titanium backup after root.
My question, can I still use this nandroid and or titanium backup I made, minus the 4 or 5 misc items I deleted before backup, to restore my Dinc to stock if need be for either the next OTA update or if I run into problems playing w/ various ROM's?
I backed up all my apps and user data just fine with it. I just installed a new rom and Restored all the data and it went fine, but I was curious about one thing.
I have 110 apps on my phone, not sure if thats a lot or not, but its a PITA sitting there and hitting "Install" then "Done" 90 times. Is there a way to have it just restore without asking? I understand this is easier than trying to download and install them all over again.
I did some searching around but couldn't find any answers; my question is how do you delete the restoration images so you can keep only two or if you find you don't need some of the older ones etc...
