View 4 RepliesAre the any disadvantages to using unrevoked to root and then their new recovery program, versus the more extensive process, like using the new "simple root" app that roots/nand/rom
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just can't get it.Yes, I'm new to this stuff but I've read every thread and watch hrs of youtube (which may have screwed me up more).I got my new Evo last week, I'm coming off of a jailbroken Iphone (blackrain).I'm looking for wireless tether, ROM flashing is ok but I'm not going to go crazy.I'm running 2.1 (I never upgraded, because I'd thought it be easier to root). It seems I get to the end of both rooting programs and the deal get's done.Unrevoked says- The app is loaded on my phone, however is say's something crazy when I hit start in the app I wiped the system, so I can't remember what it says, but it's like fhugh something.
Simple Root-I'm able to go through all the steps of simple root, when I hit wireless tether, it tells me.NOT ROOT? and my kernals aren't right. Also, simple root is a two click program now vs the majority of vidoes that are 3/4 clicks. This can't be that hard to do.
I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the EVO battery. I've played around a lot with a friends Incredible, and while it's doesn't have what I'd call "excellent battery life," it's "decent" in my opinion. With the tweaks one can do on an EVO, will the EVO last as long as an Incredible? Or does the Incredible just blow it out of the water in terms of battery life?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI successfully rooted the phone. My main reason (initially) is so I can delete some of the bloatware that came with it. I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. For the record, I'm technically savvy, I've just never done this before and don't really know where to begin.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThere have been a few different posts dealing with this concept, but I still haven't found a solid answer..which probably means there isn't one. Anyway, I am about to root and have been reading everything I can find, and there seem to be some people that do not like the unrevoked because it does not "fully" root the phone; or does not nand unlock completely or something. I wont try to explain details because I do not know much, but bottom line is:
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor anyone here that has used Simpleroot, anyone had issues with Step 2? Everytime I click Unlock NAND, instead of moving into that step it does Step 1 again and tries to push the .img to the SD card. Is this a known issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did the most recent OTA simple root.
I got all of that loaded. Updated. I am stuck at the red section. When I go to recovery I get the black screen with the Triangle exclamation mark.
Note: This process will only work if you already have the engineering HBOOT. (If you have NAND unlocked, you already have it and can proceed confidently.) If you'd like to check the actual version, you can boot into HBOOT and look near the top of the screen: it should say HBOOT-0.76.2000, not 0.79.0000. If you have 0.79.0000, you will need to do Toast's Part 2 first before starting here.
Download this file, rename it PC36IMG.zip, and put it on the root of your SD card however you like.PC36IMG-1.47.651.1_eng-hboot_RA-1.7.0.1.zip (md5=1ae574c403e9a2694de97706391255c0)
Power off your phone.
Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons until the white screen appears.
HBOOT will scan the PC36IMG.zip file. You'll see a blue progress bar on the right side of the screen.
When it's finished scanning, it will ask if you want to start the update. Press the Volume Up button to answer Yes.
Wait a while for it to flash all the images.
If you get a "Fail-PU" error on the recovery image, see below.
When it finishes and asks if you want to reboot the device, press the Volume Up button to answer Yes.
After the phone has rebooted, delete the PC36IMG.zip file from your SD card.
Download this file to your SD card:su-2.1-e-unsecure-signed.zip (md5=a055c916168db7e61a75a37a13993cd6)
Power off your phone.
Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons until the white screen appears.
If you forgot to delete PC36IMG.zip from your SD card, HBOOT will scan it again now. When it asks if you want to start the update, press Volume Down to answer No. When it asks if you want to reboot, press Volume Down again.
Now you should be at the HBOOT menu. Press Volume Down to move the selection to RECOVERY and press the Power button to select it.
In a moment, you'll be at a different looking menu.
Using the Volume and Power buttons as before, select "Flash zip from sdcard."
Select su-2.1-e-unsecure-signed.zip from the list and follow the prompts to flash it.
When that's finished and you're back at the menu, choose "Reboot system now."
You should now have root, unlocked NAND, working WiMAX, and great battery life.
Does anyone know where I can find simple instructions on how to root my LG ALLY? I only have windows XP & am having trouble finding good instructions. Can't wait for Froyo OTA.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded a simple file and uploaded it with Astro to root my phone before I ever put a custom ROM on it. I'm just simply trying to find a root for my friends phone that doesn't involve needing to make a nandroid backup ect. like I did with my Ally. Does anyone have a simple root file that I can upload on my friend's Hero? He has the 2.1 update... also does anyone know of any custom ROM's for his phone that have the 2.2 update? If so, then I will go through the trouble to make his recovery, backup and flash the ROM (which should already have the root), but if not, then it's only worth getting a simple root.

The monster Official HTC Incredible Thread is already over 3,000 posts. Predict when you think the HTC Incredible will be released in terms of post count of the Official thread. The group that is closest in predicting the post count of the Official thread when the phone is released will get something special, like the praise of thousands and I don't know... be the first ones to have Nash make them a custom background imageTo make things more fun, the time and date of release of the HTC Incredible will be determined by when the first customer posts his or her pictures of the phone after getting it from the store.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an extremely simple and non intrusive battery widget thing... like on the iPhone. I just want a percent showing battery life to the left of the battery on the top bar.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a simple 1X1 widget that will show me the phones temperature in Fahrenheit?
I use my Dinc a lot in the car for hours at a time using GPS, Pandora and maybe other apps. Running all of them can really heat up the phone so I like to keep an eye on it. I can see the temp if I pull the notification bar down using Battery Indicator but I'd like to be able to watch this with just a glance
If so what is it, and which one is made accessible by Android being open source? (Yup, I'm a newbie.)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI know this has been discussed all over the internet but I'm a computer "user" only and don't particularly understand a lot of the computer terminology in these discussions. I would like some very simple straight forward answers in lay person language. I work in a company that uses Microsoft exchange and outlook. I currently have a blackberry that syncs everything wireless and seamlessly (ie., contacts, emails, tasks, calendars, notes). I would like to get a new Verizon Indredible but company does not and won't enable active sync (whatever that is). My question is is there a program that I can install directly onto my office PC myself that will "push" or otherwise wirelessly sync all of my outlook information that is currently synced on my Blackberry?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've determined an estimate of the size of my Android emulator's screen in pixels, although I think its resolution can be changed to other numbers. Quite frankly though that doesn't eliminate the general problem of not knowing how many pixels on each axis I have to work with on my Android applications in general. The main problem I'm trying to solve is this: How do I make sure I don't use a faulty resolution on Android applications if I want to keep things' sizes constant (so that if the application screen shrinks, for instances, objects will still show up just as big - there just won't be as many of them being shown) if I wish to do this with a single universal resolution for each program? Failing that, how do I make sure everything's alright if I try to do everything the same way with maybe a few different pre-set resolutions?
Mainly it seems like a relevant question that must be answered before I can come across a complete answer for the general problem is how big can I always make my application in pixels, NOT regarding if and when a user resizes the application's screen to something smaller than the maximum size permitted by the phone and its operating system.I really want to try to keep this simple. If I were doing this for a modern desktop, for instance, I know that if I design the application with a 800x600 canvas, the user can still shrink the application to the point they're not doing themselves any favors, but at least I can basically count on it working right and not being too big for the monitor or something. Is there such a magic resolution for Android, assuming that I'm designing for API levels 3+ (Android 1.5+)?
I'm puzzled by the Data Storage part, that is, I did not find any where it mentioned that an android app would be able to write and retrieve data from a centralized db server vs jdbc or whatever, if this is true, how would an android app for an enterprise work in terms of corporate data?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI really like the stock look of the ICS(yes the one that Galaxy Nexus has).So I was wondering if there is anyway to get rid of the Touchwiz from Galaxy SGSIII.After a small Google research that I did it seems that a user is not able to get rid of Touchwiz unless it replace it with another Launcher like the Launcher Pro.So what I found out that the only way to do this is to flash the phone with a custom rom, which will not contain any OEM launchers or any other third party launchers. Any kind of launcher that will make SGS III look like Galaxy Nexus's stock launcher,I am looking only for the stock launcher only.
So I was wondering if there is any custom rom to get rid of touchwiz and leave all the other goodies that Samsung has included like the Smart-Stay(the one that tracks your eyes in order to keep the screen on),All share,etc,... in SGS III or the only way is to buy the Nexus?
